Welcome to The Judiciary Blog. This new feature of JusticeAcademy.org is specifically designed to provide a forum where members of the profession can address the contemporary issues of the day. This blog is hosted by Judge David Hoort, J.D. David most recently served as judge of the 8th Circuit Court in Michigan. His professional history includes experience in private practice, as an instructor for the Department of Corrections, as a lecturer for the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan. and as Assistant Prosecutor for Bay County from 1978 to 1983 where he served as Director of the Career Offender Prosecution Unit. His judicial career began in January of 1991 when he joined the District Court. That was followed by an extended term of service on the circuit court bench which began in January of 1999. He recently retired from the bench and now serves as Assistant Attorney General of Michigan and is also a member of the Board of Governors of JusticeAcademy.org.
