Has anyone here ever been a mod/admin on any sites or forums before? Anyone actually enjoy the epeen for longer than a month?

I was once an admin for spiked-humor.com. Unpaid work gets boring quick even if you are 15. That coupled with a nazi boss, you find yourself spending less and less time doing your "job" daily. After a few weeks I started fucking with peoples comments and deleting annoying users videos, until finally I once again found myself bored and just left the site.

Not much of a story but I'd like to hear yours along with thoughts of unpaid moderation work.

I'd ban everyone and fuck things up for everyone.

But first I'd bide my time and pretend I'm reliable.

I am a sysadmin for Second Life. Does that count?
    >> Anonymous 08/19/09(Wed)18:14:09 No.5145991
well if I was a mod around here I would actually try and clean up some of the shit but I heard you have to go on IRC and suck moots cock to even have a chance.

Admin on a some what small site atm. I generally do get tired and bored, but a lot of the people on there are friends i have known for years. I enjoy talking and writing to and with them - that and getting porn. So sometimes it is good -- sometimes it is boring.

When I started really getting bored I did consider logging in at some time when the top admins were asleep (they were the only people who would be able to prevent it, but to be honest any time would probably of worked as they only logged in about once a week) and just delete everything I could before I got stopped. I pussied out because I thought I'd get into legal trouble, so I just stopped visiting instead.

    >>5145987
    Sure

    >>5145991
That's pretty much how I got the Spiked Humor job.

    >>5146037
Well, granted you were only 15 I don't think you'd get into any legal trouble. They paid you fuck all, so you didn't exactly lose anything.

Did you have to hand over personal details?
    >> Anonymous 08/19/09(Wed)18:22:07 No.5146064
I engineered wikipedia mod status for myself a couple years ago just to protect the vast collection of misinformation i have deposited there. I dont do much with it other than ban anyone who fucks with my shit
    >> Anonymous 08/19/09(Wed)18:27:18 No.5146109
Oh, what I would do if I were an admin on an Internet forum.

I don't think I was required to but I probably told a few people my first name. At 15 the mere thought of police at my door was enough to shit me up. Looking back I probably would of gotten away with it but I'm glad I didn't as I'd feel guilty for doing something so malicious now.
    >> Anonymous 08/19/09(Wed)18:35:34 No.5146189
I was a mod for a small chan for pedophiles. I just enjoyed the status in the community, I rarely if ever modded anything. CP actually wasn't posted that often for such a risky board.
    >> Anonymous 08/19/09(Wed)18:36:40 No.5146203
I was a mod for a while at a very large political forum. Shit got old so quickly.

    NEVAR AGAIN.

    Co-admin on a forum since earlier this month, moderator on another since early 2008. Had some drama a couple months ago but it's all good now. Too bad it's some obscure game series forum, we don't get a lot of people. I mean, the last post was around friday. There are some lively times though;

Gaming clans mostly, that would have filled servers 24/7 and busy forums.

I have (and still do) oversee servers for CS:S and TF2, our website, forums, vent and sometimes FTP servers, along with other senior members. You're given a lot of leeway after being with the same people gaming and dicking around on the internet, so you don't really go power crazy once you're used to it. In some areas (such as the FTP server) I follow strict rules to ensure things are not fucked up, however if there's someone being a douche on our servers I'm allowed to handle it however I want within reason.

CS:S admins who've ever used the ma_cexec command know that it feels pretty good to rebind all the keys on a hackers keyboard and mouse, fuck with their config (ie. massive blue crosshairs, 0 mouse sensitivity, audio fucked up), and then crash their client. This "special" treatment is reserved for faggotry of the highest order, everything else is pretty mellow verbal warnings or bans.

Other than that, the only "official" thing was being a GM on a private server for WoW. As much as people say they suck, if you can get a medium sized one with a few hundred people, it's more fun than the real game. The GM thing mostly involved answering tickers, fixing things the emulator had fucked up, banning faggots, telling faggot that they could not work on the staff, and answering more tickets. Then answering more tickets. If I got bored I'd post an event on the forums for the next day, and spawn huge stone walls to make a maze I'd fill with monsters, or hundreds of chairs and table to make a "staircase" that was hundreds of feet tall. Other fun stuff is turning yourself into a boss monster and fighting off raids of players with spells, or Mass Polymorphing a city into rabbits/brooms/chair/etc. Oh, and deleting a lot of stuff on the forums, and having your dick sucked over IRC and ingame mail. Felt good man. Except for the tickets. Holy fuck people were retarded. Also BR?

    I am a mod for my TF2 clan's forum.

No one is a dickweed so there's really not a lot of work to do, maybe splitting some off topic replies from important threads. Yeah..

    Same here, except with DoD.

The only time I ever had to really delete something and suspend a user was when some kid who had been recruited started spamming shit everywhere like a fucktard.

Speaking of SecondLife, I was an admin on the Patriotic Nigras' forums.

I'm a mod for a forum that's pretty active. It's active, but not anything like a well known forum. I've been a mod on the site for about two months now and I love it.

The forum is regularly spammed by ad bots and shit, and I'm the one person on the forum at almost all times. I fucking love deleting the spam shit, I used to have to bump an older thread so the spam wouldn't be on the front page, but now, I get to delete it. :D
Oh, and the forum is pretty laid back, most people just randomly change the subject on a thread and for 10+ pages it'll only be about that. But no one seems to really care.

tl;dr Being a mod is awesome.

I'm currently a mod (and was temporarily an admin) on a forum with around 30 active members, of which I'd say at least half either are or used to be mods and/or admins. I never do anything.

Yes, admin to a few sites, a few forums, a couple TF2 servers, officers for many clans/guilds.

I am very, very lenient of misconduct (example: I would never punish someone for talking shit to me. anyone who does that is a walking fucking vagina). When I was 16, I enjoyed calling the shots. If people were sincere in their compliments, I liked it. Most people would. If people were brown-nosing, I had zero tolerance for them. I would usually be very curt or not acknowledge them at all. I think after the 3rd or 4th "job", I stopped giving a shit about the epeen factor.

It would take some serious rationale to abuse power if I had it. I usually accept these roles when they're offered to me, provided they don't require tedious amounts of work to be done. This is why I usually don't accept officer roles in guilds anymore. Fuck people.

i was a mod for an invader zim forum a while back (maybe around 02/03?)

the admin was a huge douche and shortly after he flipped his shit and deleted the forums. and nothing of value was lost

I've been a mod on a dnb site for several years. It's allright but I don't get to ban nearly enough or exploit peoples posts like I want to. Everyoen will yell OMG NAZI SHIT and then it's like fuck you guys I'm going back to 4chan.
    >> Anonymous 08/19/09(Wed)19:30:51 No.5146641
I'm a mod on a celebrity pics forum. Oddly enough I ha risen through the "ranks" there, then got pissed about something and was banned. Came back, and about two years later I was a mod. For a while it was just me and another mod, since most had left or didn't come around at all, and no admin since the site had been bought. We used to get spammed a lot too with those rapidshare phishing links, but not much anymore. There's also like 9 mods now, so I don't do too much anymore. And I don't get paid, but the actual mod work takes 2 minutes out of my day at most, so it's not like I really should.

    I'm an admin on StormFront.org
    >> Anonymous 08/19/09(Wed)19:39:18 No.5146726
I've adminned and moderated more forums than I can think of. I hate it, and I think it's stupid. I mean, yeah, the uninformed think you're OMFGLEETHAXXORZ when you're a forum admin, but most of that is inserting scripts and dinking around, and when you're a mod or a global mod, people think that they should suck your epeen to avoid getting banned, but ultimately, all you do is hang out and play janitor to a bunch of prepubescent retards that spam "cheese", "pie", and crusty memes from 4chan in an effort to be LOLSORANDUM; deleting stupid posts, banning idiots, locking threads, and hanging out in the super sekrit staff forum and bitching at the admins about how stupid the userbase is.

The few times I actually wanted to be a mod or an admin I couldn't, because if I did, I would be unable to go back to being a normal poster. I like tits and commenting on shit the same as everyone else, but once I post with an admin tag or a mod tag it derails the thread, so the last time I was promoted from poster to admin, I logged into the AdminCP, changed my status back to regular member and then permanently banned (and IP banned) myself. The other admin was all "lol, you should lern2AdminCP" and unbanned me and re-promoted me, so I did it again and haven't been back since.
