Paul Washer Calls Soulwinning Baptists 'Stupid'
(Lordship Salvationists... making salvation hard)

By David J. Stewart | September 2011

Mark 13:22, “For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall
shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.”

Paul Washer is a false prophet, a total heretic!!! In this fool-headed video washer condemns the Romans Road (that is, showing a person how to be saved from Scriptures in the book of Romans). Washer calls it a manipulative practice, just like Ray comfort does. Washer denounces conservative soul-winning Baptist evangelists as being “stupid” (and that's the exact word he uses in the following quote)...

Heretic, Paul Washer, who teaches that salvation is dependent upon one's continued belief and repentance.“We talk about the Germans of the 20th centuries that brought on their higher criticism. It is not near as dangerous as conservative Baptists with their gospel reductionism. How dare we, all these stupid evangelists walking around telling men after they've made some little prayer that they need to write their name in the back of their Bible, and put the date and if the Devil ever comes to them, they need to show him that. That is Roman superstition, it is not the gospel of Jesus Christ. You see we've turned the gospel into a flu-shot.”

SOURCE: Paul Washer Sermonette

Soulwinning Baptist evangelists, stupid? The simplicity that is in Christ, a flu-shot? No, it's Paul Washer who is the fool, spewing his anger against Baptists for preaching the truth. Paul Washer is a dangerous religious teacher, who has corrupted the gospel of Jesus Christ (2nd Corinthians 11:3-4). The truth is that Ray Comfort, Paul Washer, John MacArthur, Pat Robertson, Kirk Cameron and countless other false prophets like them (who teach the damnable heresy of Lordship Salvation) are getting angry that independent fundamentalist Baptists are exposing them!!! Paul Washer is of the Devil. Lordship Salvation is ANOTHER gospel. Galatians 1:6, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel.”

In the above quote, Mr. Washer attacks the sinner's prayer for salvation...

“...stupid evangelists walking around telling men after they've made some little prayer ...”

SOURCE: Paul Washer Sermonette

Paul Washer is a heretic!!! God saves the vilest sinner who cries out even with the faintest and smallest of prayers, believing that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God (John 20:31). Ray Comfort attacks soul-winners for practicing what he calls, quick-Fix” evangelism. They despise the idea of showing a person some Scriptures from the Bible and then leading them in a sinner's prayer to be saved. Paul Washer calls such preachers of the gospel “STUPID EVANGELISTS.” Isn't that terrible? Paul Washer should be ashamed of himself. If the Bible teaches anything, it teaches that the gospel is simple, and it's very easy to be saved. You simply come as a SINNER and you believe upon the SAVIOR. It's that simple!

Granted, some people do pray a prayer and never get saved. Catholics do it all the time, praying vain repetitions (Matthew 6:7). Albeit, I'm not going to corrupt the simplicity that is in Christ by perverting the gospel to ANOTHER GOSPEL. God's plan to save sinners is for men to acknowledge their sinnership and believe on the Savior Who died, was buried, and rose again three days later (1st Corinthians 15:1-4). That is the gospel. That's it! Salvation is not a prayer. We are saved by our heart's faith in Jesus as the Christ, the only begotten Son of God (Romans 10:9-10). Thus, it is very appropriate to pray a sinner's prayer if it is to express one's trust in the Lord for salvation. The sinner's prayer comes from Luke 18:13, “And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.” The thief on the cross prayed.

If you listen to Paul Washer's Sermonette, he says it sometimes takes weeks and months to get people saved, alleging it is hard to believe. Washer uses this argument to shun the idea that a person can be saved by praying a quick prayer, aka, the 1-2-3 follow me method. Like it or not, salvation is simple, call it what they will.

Lordship Salvation is Calvinism's teaching of the Perseverance of the Saints. It is a false gospel. John MacArthur is admittedly a 5-point Calvinist. The saddest thing of all is that I know pastors who foolishly refer to John MacArthur as a “great man of God,” when in reality MacArthur is a false prophet who is steeped in satanic Calvinism. Stop and think about the thief on the cross who in a moment's time simply admitted his sinfulness and cried out to the Lord to be saved. It was a simple prayer. Shame on Paul Washer, Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron and John MacArthur who MAKE SALVATION HARD!!!

Lordship Salvation (Calvinism Repackaged)

Many believers today have foolishly accepted the teachings of Calvinism (repackaged as Lordship Salvation) as merely a matter of semantics. Heretics like John MacArthur, Kirk Cameron, Paul Washer and Ray Comfort are commonly viewed as simply having a varying or different theological view amongst evangelical Christians; but they are teaching doctrines of devils. These wayward men “have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment...

Acts 15:1 and 24, “And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.... Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment.”

John MacArthur, Kirk Cameron, Paul Washer and Ray Comfort are followers of the heresies of John Calvin (1509-1654), who taught a perverted gospel message. Calvin's heresies are commonly referred to as the “5 points of Calvinism.” Pastor Curtis Hutson exposes Calvinism's 5 points here. mare still widely accepted because they preach Christ crucified, buried and risen.

Paul Washer's corrupt message is subtle, identical to the heresy of Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron and John MacArthur; but they all in essence teach the same thing—Lordship Salvation. Paul Washer has appeared on WAY OF THE MASTER to be interviewed by Kirk Cameron. They're all heretical Calvinists. Paul Washer actually gave a sermon titled “DECLARING WAR ON THE SINNER'S PRAYER.” In the video Washer claims that the sinner's prayer has sent more people to Hell than anything else. Yet does not Romans 10:13 in the Bible PROMISE that WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED! Yes, most certainly, the Bible does say exactly that! God promises salvation to anyone who believes on Jesus Christ.

To understand the issue of Lordship Salvation, realize that THEY ARE ALL CALVINISTS!!! John Calvin (1509-1564) taught a heresy called the PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS, which taught that if a person is truly saved they will continue in holy living, surrendering their life to Christ, and departing from sin and the world; thus, this becomes a REQUIREMENT to be saved in Calvinism. This is EXACTLY what Lordship Salvation teaches today (it is just Calvinism). It is a false gospel.

Paul Washer Criticizes Remembering the Time a Person is Saved

“How dare we, all these stupid evangelists walking around telling men after they've made some little prayer that they need to write their name in the back of their Bible, and put the date and if the Devil ever comes to them, they need to show him that. That is Roman superstition”

SOURCE: Paul Washer Sermonette

It appears that Paul Washer doesn't really believe in being born-again in a Biblical sense from the way he talks. Being born-again is an event in one's life, happening in a specific time and a place. What in the world is so wrong about writing that time and place down in your Bible? Paul Washer is bad news.

Since God has PROMISED to save those who believe; thus, it is certainly appropriate to write down the time and date when one receives Christ and is born-again. Paul Washer is wrong to criticize such a thing. I was saved as a young teenager. I remember the place. I remember the sermon. I remember the conviction of the Holy Spirit for the first time in my life. I remember trusting Jesus in my heart to be saved from my sins; but I don't remember the date or even the year. I didn't think to. It would have been nice to know when I was saved. No one personally led me to the Lord, I was saved in a pew under the preaching of the Word of God.

My pastor said that if you don't have the Holy Spirit convicting you of sin, you're not saved. I knew right there and then that I wasn't saved; but I wanted to be, immediately. And so I believed on the Lord that day to save me. I think I was 13, but am not exactly sure. Albeit, I don't worry about that because I know I am saved today. There is an ever real faith in my heart in the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is the Son of God that died for my sins upon the cross, and was buried and rose again. Salvation is not dependent upon some past experience or memory, but upon whether we believe in our heart or not. I know where I was saved, and the circumstances, but I don't know when (and that's ok). Amen!

So I can understand the blessing of telling a person to write down the date and time that they receive Christ (John 1:12). The Devil certainly does attack many people, filling their minds with doubts and fears. I feared for 7 years after I was saved, fear that I wasn't really saved. Did I have enough faith? Did I miss something? Salvation is a decision on our part; but a supernatural miracle of God on His part. Everyone will ultimately decide to either receive or reject Jesus Christ. I have received Him and He is my precious God and Savior.

In hindsight, I now realize why I was so afraid, that is, I was ignorant concerning the doctrines and teachings of the Word of God. When I really started learning the Bible, salvation all made sense to me. it was studying Old Testament tabernacle and the work of the highpriest, and the blood of the lamb upon the alter, that helped me to understand salvation. Why do you think God gave us that illustration? Romans 15:4, “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” All of the ceremonial laws in the Old Testament were intended to teach, not only the Jews, but us today as well. Romans 15:4 says everything written was done so for our edification. I KNOW (1st John 5:13) I am saved as much as anything in this world, and haven't had any doubts for over 20 years. Praise God! My salvation is safe and secure in the everlasting arms of the Father. Deuteronomy 33:27, “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.”

Paul Washer Calls the Simplicity That is in Christ a 'Flu-shot'

“You see we've turned the gospel into a flu-shot.”

SOURCE: Paul Washer Sermonette

Like it or not, salvation happens instantaneously the very moment that a person trusts Jesus Christ to be saved. Christ died, that's history; Christ died for me, that's salvation! It's not what you're doing that gets you to heaven, it's where you're looking. LOOK TO JESUS!

Salvation is a PROMISE of God, a Gift Only to Be Received

Titus 1:2 tells us that God promised eternal life before the world began to those who believe. Romans 1:16 says that gospel is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth. There is no talk in the Bible about giving up sins, the world, nor turning over a new leaf as a prerequisite to be saved. Jesus paid a debt He did not owe, because we owed a debt we could not pay. JESUS PAID IT ALL!!! A changed life is the FRUIT of genuine repentance, and NOT a part of the ROOT of saving faith. Paul Washer, Kirk Cameron, Ray Comfort, Pat Robertson, Benny Hinn and so many others these days are all propagating a FALSE GOSPEL MESSAGE of works salvation, doctrines of devils. 1st Timothy 4:1: “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” Read what the mighty man of God and pastor, Harry Ironside, had to say about the heresy of Lordship Salvation.

The Devil is a deceiver and a liar (John 8:44). if the Devil can't trick you by adding works to faith in the Roman Catholic religion, then he'll trick you by having Lordship Salvationists teach that you are not really saved if you have bad works.

Paul Washer is a false prophet, a total religious imposter!!! Washer will deceive you if you're not knowledgeable of the Scriptures. Romans 4:5-6 is enough to prove him a fraud. Paul Washer is actually calling God stupid, because Romans 4:5-6 plainly calls Paul Washer a big religious liar...

“But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works.”

Biblical salvation is without works of self-righteousness. Catholics require men to do good works to be saved; whereas Lordship Salvationists require men to undo bad works to be saved. BOTH are false gospels that require WORKS to be saved. That's about as simple as I can explain it. Salvation is WITHOUT WORKS!!! Romans 4:5-6 plainly teaches that Biblical salvation, that is, genuine salvation, is without works of self-righteousness. Romans 4:5, “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” A person's faith is COUNTED for righteousness, which means that Christ's righteousness is IMPUTED to the believer. I don't hear the Lordship Salvation crowd talk about Christ's imputed righteousness, but it's taught in Romans 4:5-6 and elsewhere in the Bible (2nd Corinthians 5:21). We are saved by HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS (Matthew 6:33), because we have no righteousness of our own to offer God (Isaiah 64:6).

Lordship Salvation is fake salvation (which is NO salvation at all). Romans Catholicism is a road to Hell. Just like heathen Roman Catholics who say to do good works for salvation, so does Paul Washer and the Lordship Salvation crowd tell sinners to undo bad works to make sure they're saved. Both corrupt views of the gospel require some form of works.

Lordship Salvationists are pushing and pulling at the same time, contradicting themselves. On one hand they correctly say salvation is by grace; but then on the other hand they incorrectly say that works are not only evidence of salvation, but proof one is not saved without them. Consequently, they are indeed teaching works salvation. If not having works means one is not saved, then works are necessary for salvation. Do you see how crazy their teachings are? It is wickedness what they are teaching. Eternal life is the free gift of God (Romans 6:23). You simply receive it by faith in the name of the Son of God, Jesus Christ (Acts 10:43). Proof that a person is saved is not evidenced by the way they live; but rather, do they have God's Holy Spirit living within them? Romans 8:16, “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.”

Romans 11:6 silences the supporters and teachers of Lordship Salvation, “And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.” Salvation is either by works or grace; but it cannot be both. Yet Paul Washer says it is both. Washer deceitfully teaches that works are not necessary for salvation, but then he says that if you don't have works you're not saved. That's the kind of rubbish that Romans 11:6 exposes!!! What a bunch of double-talk and deceit by Paul Washer.

The Bible is our Final Authority. Jesus said the Holy Spirit would guide us into all truth (John 16:13). And those truths are found in the pages of the Word of God.

At 3:45 in the same foolish message as above by Paul Washer, he says that works are required as evidence of salvation, and if you don't have works you are NOT saved. At 4:14 Washer claims that 99.9% of Baptists don't understand anything about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Washer speaks in utter contradiction and confusing dialogue, claiming that salvation is by grace, while at the same time teaching that without works no man can be saved. Washer teaches the same jibber-jabber garbage as Ray Comfort, claiming that works are required as evidence (and therefore being a part of) being saved.

Paul Washer misinterprets Titus 1:16, “They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.” This Bible verse simply means that if a professed believer does not have some FRUIT to show evidence of the ROOT of their faith, then something is wrong and perhaps they are not saved. Titus 1:16 teaches that a believer's works should back up one's faith; but Mr. Washer corrupts it to mean that you are not saved without works, so then works naturally become a part of their perverted view of salvation.

Titus 1:16 does not mandate a changed life to be saved, which is exactly what Paul Washer has done with this Scripture. Lordship Salvation is a backdoor approach to the Roman catholic teaching of works salvation

Paul Washer verses the Bible On How to Know Your Saved

Paul Washer foolishly states at 2:00 in the video:

“The evidence that someone is saved is that they continue walking in the narrow way”

SOURCE: Paul Washer Sermonette

Again, the Bible calls Mr. Washer a liar. We are told in Romans 8:16, “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.” It is God's Holy Spirit Who indwells the believer and lets each and every one of us individually know that we are God's children. Mr. Washer says good works is the way to know you're saved. He is a liar!!! The Bible says the Holy Spirit's presence in our life is proof of our salvation.

Ephesians 1:13, “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.” In simple terms, this Scripture means that God has given to us the Holy Spirit as a downpayment, as a “PLEDGE” (which is what the word “earnest” means in Ephesians 1:14). It is God's pledge that He is going to make good on all His promises to us concerning our salvation, particular the redemption of our body (Romans 8:23; Philippians 3:21).

Paul Washer is very wrong to teach that abstaining from sins and consecrating one's life to God (the FRUIT of one's faith) is a necessary part of the ROOT of faith. That's where they go wrong theologically. Abraham believed the Lord and it was counted unto him for righteousness. That is the ROOT of Abraham's faith (Genesis 15:6; Romans 4:3-5). Abram (Abraham) was saved in Genesis 15. However, when Abraham offered up Isaac in Genesis 22, that was the FRUIT of his faith (James 2:21).

Mark 13:22, “For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall
shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.”

Paul Washer CONFUSES people, deceiving naive and woefully ignorant churchgoers. They have churchianity without Christianity, and religion without truth. The Bible foretold in Mark 13:22 that false prophets would arise in the Last Days that if possible, will try to deceive even the saved. Paul Washer is NOT fooling me. I'm not buying any of their lies!!! Talk is cheap and I'm not buying any. Paul Washer teaches that a person who has sins in their life is not saved. Such rhetoric places an incredibly heavy burden upon sinners to immediately give-up lifelong sinful bad habits to be saved according to his false gospel.

The Bible teaches IF SAVED, ALWAYS SAVED. I certainly would question a person's salvation who boasts of committing sins or brags of being a homosexual. However, apart from the clear testimony of a person's mouth, ONLY God knows for certain if a person is saved. We can only truly know if a person is saved by the testimony of their mouth concerning Jesus Christ. The Lordship Salvation gang of religious thugs label every carnal believer as unsaved, failing to consider 1st Corinthians 3:1 (which teaches that the believers at Corinth were indeed carnal and babes in Christ). Paul Washer teaches that there's no such thing as a carnal believer. I guess Mr. Washer has never read 1st Corinthians 3:1, “And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.”

Paul Washer was recently invited by Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron unto THE WAY OF THE MASTER show for an interview. It ought to be called THE WAY OF APOSTASY! These heretics are all connected. Birds of a feather flock together.

Kirk Cameron is promoted and invited by all sorts of heathen shows. Cameron was asked to appear on THE VIEW, and on GOOD MORNING AMERICA, and is featured in Pat Robertson's THE 700 CLUB. You know something is wrong with a professed Christian, let alone a so-called gospel teacher and preacher, who is still extremely popular with the world. Don't kid yourself and think for one moment that these wayward religious men aren't a part of the forming One World Religion. Rick Warren has been identified as an illuminati plant to deceive and corrupt the churches, by leading them into submission to World Government. Max Lucado encourages Open Borders for criminals to enter our country ILLEGALLY, and perverts the Scriptures in an attempt to lead the churches to accept the North American Union of the globalists.

Paul Washer confuses and combines the ROOT of one's faith with the FRUIT of one's faith. They are not inseparable as Lordship Salvationists teach. You can have the ROOT of faith (IN GOD EYES) without any FRUIT (IN MEN'S THE EYES) and still go to Heaven, but God will hold you accountable at the Judgment Seat of Christ (1st Corinthians 5:5). In fact, 1st Corinthians 3:15 teaches that some believers will just barely escape the fires of Hell and will have no rewards in Heaven because all their worldly works will be burned up... 1st Corinthians 3:15, “If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”

Is Romans 10:13 Stupid Mr. Washer?

It's very interesting that Paul Washer doesn't go after Mormons, Freemasons, Buddhists, Hindus, Jehovah's Witnesses or Catholics; no, he attacks conservative soul-winning Baptists. Paul Washer is calling evangelist Dr. John R. Rice and every fundamentalist Baptist preacher stupid...

"all these stupid evangelists walking around telling men after they've made some little prayer that they need to write their name in the back of their Bible, and put the date and if the Devil ever comes to them, they need to show him that."

SOURCE: Paul Washer Sermonette

In sharp contrast to the nonsense of Paul Washer, the Word of God teaches in Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” God will save anyone who prays a sinner's prayer, trusting upon the Lord Jesus Christ for forgiveness of their sins (John 3:16; Romans 10:13; Acts 10:43). Let me say it again for Mr. Washer and Ray Comfort to hear...

Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

The Bible teaches that a sinner may be saved by simply calling upon the name of Jesus Christ. If you, as an admitted guilty sinner, believe upon the name of Jesus—the Christ who died, was buried, and raised up for your sins—you will be saved (John 20:31). Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Titus 1:2, “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.” Eternal life is a PROMISE, which means we can have full confidence that salvation is ours UNCONDITIONALLY IN CHRIST JESUS (Romans 8:1).

However, according to Calvinist teachings (that Lordship Salvation is rooted in) a person is not safe just because Jesus died. Calvinists teach that a person must CONTINUE in obedience and faith or they never had salvation to begin with. So in fact, good works are REQUIRED as evidence of salvation, and a person is said not to be saved who doesn't have WORKS. How in the world can anyone claim this is not works salvation???

John Calvin (1509-1564) was a scumbag heretic, an unsaved reprobate, a brutal tyrant, and a sick-minded freak. Calvin was a member of the occult, demonstrated in the hand-sign given in the painting to the right. Calvin taught Baptismal Regeneration and sacraments, just like the heretic Martin Luther (loser).

It's hard to comprehend why people follow the erroneous false teachings of flawed men who've been dead for centuries. I mean, Calvin's been dead for 447 years now. I mean, I like to read classic sermons by Charles Spurgeon, George Whitefield and Jonathan Edwards; but I don't get my doctrine from anybody except THE BIBLE. The Bible is our Authority!!!

The Bible teaches the PRESERVATION of the saints, not the PERSEVERANCE of the saints!

On page 1513 of THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, under the section “Questions & Objections,” Ray Comfort addresses the statement: “Because Jesus died on the cross we are forgiven of every sin.” Here’s Ray Comfort’s reply to this statement…

“The forgiveness that is in Jesus Christ is conditional upon ‘repentance towards God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ’ (Acts 20:21). It is a gift that God offers to everyone, but individuals must receive it by repenting and trusting in Christ, or they will remain dead in their sins. No one has Biblical grounds to continue in sin, assuming that they are safe just because Jesus died on the cross. See 1 John 3:4-6.” [Emphasis added]

SOURCE: THE EVIDENCE BIBLE, by Ray Comfort, pg. 1513; 2003, Bridge-Logos Publishers, Orlando, Florida

Mr. Comfort is a Calvinist, who believes that if you don't PERSEVERE in obedience, works and faith, then you cannot get to Heaven. I recommend to anyone who agrees with ray Comfort, Paul Washer and John MacArthur to go back and research the beliefs of John Calvin. I've done it for you here.

I read in some Baptist message board online where a member said God uses different methods to reach different people. The person was trying to defend the Lordship Salvation crowd. That is simply not what the Bible teaches. There is only ONE WAY, and that is God's way in the holy Scriptures.

Paul Washer and Ray Comfort's method of evangelism is based on Calvinism's teaching of the perseverance of the saints. That is, true saints will persevere in good works and holy living and those who don't are not saved. It is a heretical doctrine of devils. The Bible teaches the PRESERVATION of the saints, not the PERSEVERANCE of the saints! If you understand John Calvin's heresies, then you know why Paul Washer is corrupt and teaches the garbage that he does. I've noticed that Paul Washer's ministry is deliberately uploading dozens and dozens of videos pushing Lordship Salvation. Bible-believing Christians need to counter all this by making their own videos. YouTube is a weapon for good and evil, depending on who's uploading videos and whether they're on God's side or the Devil's. Join the fight! (Ephesians 6:12).

Charles Spurgeon Refuted Lordship Salvation

Proponents of Lordship Salvation are liars and frauds. John MacArthur and Ray Comfort have shoved quote after quote by the mighty 19th century preacher, Charles H. Spurgeon, into people's faces in an attempt to say that Spurgeon agreed with Lordship Salvation. Since modern-day false prophets who teach Lordship Salvation cannot use the Scriptures to support their claims, they attempt to quote great men of God as a secondary authority. However, the truth is that these dishonest and unscholarly men deliberately misquote Charles Spurgeon and other great men, just as they wrestle the Word of God unto their own destruction (2nd Peter 3:16). Here's a quote by Charles surgeon that you'll never hear nor read from the works of Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron, Paul Washer, nor John MacArthur...

"You must not expect that you will be perfect in "repentance" before you are saved. No Christian can be perfect. "Repentance" is a grace. Some people preach it as a condition of salvation. Condition of nonsense! There are no conditions of salvation. God gives the salvation himself..."

— Charles Spurgeon

SOURCE: https://www.spurgeon.org/resource-library/sermons/the-repentance-unto-life#flipbook (Charles Spurgeon, from a sermon titled, REPENTANCE UNTO LIFE, preached at the New Park Street Chapel, Southwark, on September 23, 1855)

Spurgeon believed in a free-grace gospel, nothing more. A sinner is saved by God's grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Lordship Salvationists all pervert the Gospel message, requiring sinners to stop living in their sins to be saved. Moody Bible Institute and many other theological schools have been caught up into MacArthur's doctrines of devils...

1st Timothy 4:1, “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;1Tm:4:1: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and DOCTRINES OF DEVILS.”

Lordship Salvation is a backdoor approach to Works Salvation. Instead of requiring people to do good works to be saved as the Catholic Church does, Lordship Salvationists require people to stop living in sin to be saved. The result is the same—self righteousness. The perverted doctrine of Lordship Salvation is the primary ecumenical bridge now being used to merge Catholics with apostate Evangelicals.

Kirk Cameron is Popular With the World

Don't think for a second that Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron aren't part of the same corrupt and wicked system as max Lucado, Joel Osteen, Pat Robertson and all the other fakes and con-men like Benny Hinn. Any evangelist or pastor who supports World Government and the apostate Ecumenical Movement (the let's all lay aside our Bibles and get along crowd), goes straight to the top in popularity. Joyce Meyer is on the New York Times Bestseller List because she is part of the New World Order, uniting religious faiths of all walks of life into ONE.

There's a reason why they're so popular on mainstream television. You don't see any Independent Fundamental Baptist preachers being invited on television. That's because such preachers proclaims THE TRUTH. Kirk Cameron is wishy-washy, a fence-straddler, trying to play both sides of the street. He needs to LEAVE the hellhole of Hollywood. Kirk Cameron is nothing more than a poster boy to cover for Hollywood's wickedness. They exploit him and use him to show that Hollywood has SOME GOOD to it. Let me tell you, Hollywood is HOMOSEXUAL TO THE CORE!!! There is NO GOOD in Hollywood! They ought to rename some places on the west coast to HollyWEIRD, San FranSICKO and CaliFORNICATION!!!

In the satanic mindset of Lordship Salvationists (who are all heretical Calvinists), salvation is not as easy as simply placing your faith in Jesus Christ. They believe that a drastic transformation must take place, that causes a person to dedicate their entire life to serving God and departing from sin and the world. The problem is that by requiring this change as part of the ROOT of saving faith, the gospel is perverted into a works-based false gospel, that is, ANOTHER GOSPEL. Paul Washer, Kirk Cameron, John MacArthur and Ray Comfort all falsely claim to believe in salvation by grace. They certainly do not. The Calvinist doctrine of the “Perseverance of the Saints” is essentially “Lordship Salvation.”

Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron, Paul Washer, Pat Robertson, John MacArthur and countless others, have their own little Lordship Salvation click, influencing hundreds-of-millions of people for Satan with a Roman Catholic false gospel of works. However, the Bible warns that though hand-join-in-hand and the wicked unite together against the Lord, God will PUNISH them...

Proverb 16:5, “Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination
to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.”

It doesn't matter if the entire world pats you on the back, agrees with you, and says you're doing the right thing; God will be the final and only Judge of humanity (Romans 14:12; Matthew 12:36; 2nd Corinthians 5:9-11; Galatians 4:12; 5:9; 1st Thessalonians 4:6; Romans 12:19).

The bottom line is that all the aforementioned men who teach the false doctrine of Lordship Salvation are perverting the free-grace view of the gospel of Jesus Christ. They are corrupting the simplicity that is in Christ. They are prophets for hire, all making money off the ministry.

His message is subtle, identical to the heresy of Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron and John MacArthur; but they all in essence teach the same thing—Lordship Salvation. Washer even goes as far as to refer to the sinner's prayer as “the idolatry of decisionism” at 3:59 in the video.

The following is an excerpt from a popular demonic message Paul Washer gave about the “alter call.” At 09:26 in the video Paul Washer foolishly states...

Heretic, Paul Washer, who teaches that salvation is dependent upon one's continued belief and repentance. But let's say that a person comes forward or a person is out there with us in a park somewhere and they say, "Yes, I believe, I believe he saved me today." You should say, "Praise God!" But then, then, you should say, "Now listen to me very clearly. If you have indeed repented of your sins and believed, God has saved you; but the evidence that you have truly repented and believed unto salvation is that you will continue repenting and believing, and God and His Christ will become dear to you, and you will begin to walk and to grow. Yes it will be a struggle and sometimes you will fail, but over the course of your life you will begin to grow in holiness, and holiness, you will grow in holiness without which no man will see the Lord. The evidence that you are truly converted today is that you will continue on. If only most of the Americans had been told that, they would not be resting in false security today.

Paul Washer wrongly understands repentance to be a process. He says, "the evidence that you have truly repented and believed unto salvation is that you will continue repenting" [emphasis added]. Continue repenting? Obviously, Washer understands repentance to mean pursuing holiness, amending one's ways and doing better. This is NOT repentance! These things are the RESULTS of genuine repentance. A changed life is the FRUIT of true repentance, and not repentance itself. Paul Washer is effectively teaching works salvation.

Now what is repentance? The word means to change. Let me ask you a question … Have you changed?

Paul Washer wrongly defines repentance as a change of lifestyle. You can read more of Washer's heretical statements here.

Dr. Harry A. Ironside (1876-1951) correctly states...

"Repentance is the recognition of my sinnership — the owning before God that I am as vile as He has declared me to be in His holy Word."

SOURCE: Except Ye Repent, by Dr. Harry Ironside, chapter 3

Paul Washer, as do Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron, John Macarthur, and others, wrongly define repentance as a continuing change of life, i.e., a process. However, a changed life is the result, i.e., the fruit, of genuine repentance; and not repentance itself. If repentance is a process, than so is salvation. They are wrong! Biblical repentance is NOT something that continues; but rather, occurs once at the time of salvation. It is "a change of mind" (Greek: metanoia). A changed life is the fruit of genuine repentance; not a part of saving-faith, nor a requirement to seal one's salvation.

Jesus taught that a man must be born-again to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven (John 3:3-7). The Lord compared this spiritual birth to the physical birth. When a child is born into this world, he or she grows as a result of that birth. The growing process is NOT necessary for the birth to take place. Likewise, growing in holiness is NOT necessary to be born-again. Whether a believer grows or continues in the Lord is totally irrelevant to salvation itself. Just as a babe in the womb has absolutely no control over it's birth, neither does a sinner have any control over God's salvation. The moment we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, we have done what God requires for salvation. Salvation is of the Lord (Jonah 2:9). One's salvation is based upon Christ's imputed righteousness; and not upon our own self-righteousness in any way.

Pastor Harry Ironside Has it Correct

Please read the best explanation I've ever read concerning the Gospel and repentance, by Pastor Harry A. Ironside (1876-1951). Clearly, Ironside taught a Free Grace view of the Gospel. Consider further the following quote by Dr. Ironside...

“The Gospel is not a call to repentance, or to amendment of our ways, to make restitution for past sins, or to promise to do better in the future. These things are proper in their place, but they do not constitute the Gospel; for the Gospel is not good advice to be obeyed, it is good news to be believed. Do not make the mistake then of thinking that the Gospel is a call to duty or a call to reformation, a call to better your condition, to behave yourself in a more perfect way than you have been doing in the past …

Nor is the Gospel a demand that you give up the world, that you give up your sins, that you break off bad habits, and try to cultivate good ones. You may do all these things, and yet never believe the Gospel and consequently never be saved at all.”

SOURCE: Harry A. Ironside, from the sermon: What Is The Gospel?

Harry A. Ironside correctly recognized repentance as the confession that "one is utterly without merit" and that if one is "ever saved at all it can only be through the merits of our Lord Jesus Christ."  Salvation is without works of self-righteousness.  Romans 4:5 plainly teaches that a man's faith is COUNTED for righteousness, i.e., the righteousness of Jesus Christ is imputed to one's heavenly record by faith. Don't mess with the Gospel. Just believe it!

Paul Washer's Perverted Gospel Message

FIRST, Paul Washer corrupts the Biblical meaning of Hebrews 12:14 as does John MacArthur. Hebrews 12:14 and 15 state: "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled." The correct interpretation of Hebrews 12:14 is that our testimony affects those around us. Without holiness in our personal lives, other men won't see the Lord. Thus, we become a root of bitterness to those around us. Ignorance of the Scripture is a dangerous thing, and Mr. Washer is woefully ignorant of Hebrews 12:14, turning the grace of God into a lie. Paul Washer incorrectly teaches that a sinner cannot be saved without pursuing personal holiness.

SECOND, Paul Washer is correct to teach that a changed life is evidence of genuine repentance; but he makes the fatal mistake of ADDING continuing repentance to saving-faith. This flawed concept of salvation is commonly attributed to the heretic John Calvin, who errantly taught that perseverance in one's Christian faith is a part of saving-faith. The Salvation Army is also guilty of teaching this unbiblical teaching. Where does this unbiblical requirement of perseverance for salvation come from? It comes from a flawed understanding of what Biblical "repentance" means. Genuine Biblical repentance is becoming guilty before God for one's sins... "Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God."

THIRD, Paul Washer makes a very dangerous statement that teaches works salvation... "The evidence that you are truly converted today is that you will continue on. If only most of the Americans had been told that, they would not be resting in false security today." Clearly, Mr. Washer is teaching that salvation requires "continuing on." According to Paul Washer's false gospel, anyone who professes faith in Jesus Christ must also continue believing and repenting to be saved. What Mr. Washer subtly calls "evidence" is actually a "requirement" for salvation, because he plainly states that a person must CONTINUE repenting and believing to be saved. Certainly, this is more than mere "evidence" if it's something we MUST CONTINUALLY DO. Do you see how easily the Gospel is corrupted by unlearned and ignorant men? Washer has it all backwards. You don't "continue on" to be saved, nor to stay saved, nor even to prove your saved; but rather, because you are saved. We don't have to prove anything to anyone. God knows if we are saved or not.

If Paul Washer is correct in his message, i.e., that a person must "continue on" in belief and repentance to be saved, then one's salvation is dependent upon human effort. Paul Washer teaches a false gospel. Galatians 1:6-9 warns... "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." The true Gospel of Jesus Christ proclaims salvation as the free gift of God (Romans 5:15;6:23), paid for by Jesus' literal precious blood (1st Peter 1:18,19). Man has no part in salvation. Eternal life is the free gift of God (Ephesians 2:8,9), available to anyone who freely receives it (Revelation 22:17) upon the understanding that we are guilty sinners deserving of Hellfire (Romans 3:19; 6:23).

In sharp contrast, Paul Washer teaches that Americans are resting in a "false security" because they have not "continued on" in belief and repentance. That is a pure works-based salvation and a false gospel.

Paul Washer is a Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

"For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers... Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake" (Titus 1:10). Heretics such as Paul Washer must be exposed. Satan is a master deceiver. It is what he does best. 2nd Corinthians 11:13-14 warns that Satan's ministers will come to us disguised as minister's of righteousness. Yet, sadly, the average person today is woefully ignorant of the Scriptures and cannot readily identify a false prophet.

It's no secret how to spot a false prophet. The key is to SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES as Jesus commanded in John 5:39. This is so important. The Word of God is the believers Lamp, Sword and Final Authority. One of the clearest evidences that a person is saved is their love for the Scriptures. The unsaved world hates the Bible because It condemns them (John 3:20). So if you want to be able to identify a false prophet, then learn what the Bibles teaches and measure everything else by It.

The Lost Doctrine of “Imputation” in Our Churches

Where does Christ's imputed righteousness come into play in Paul Washer's false gospel? Is not salvation a "free gift"? Yes, it is! One of the most abandoned, forgotten and ignored doctrines of the Christian faith today is the subject of IMPUTATION. Romans 4:6 states, "Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works." Did you read that Mr. Washer... God imputeth righteousness WITHOUT WORKS! The word "imputeth" here is the Greek word logizomai and means "to pass to one's account." Literally, in response to our trusting upon the Lord Jesus to forgive our sins, God places Christ's righteousness upon our record in Heaven, and our sins were placed upon Jesus upon the cross... "For he [God the Father] hath made him [God the Son] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him" (2nd Corinthians 5:21).

Paul Washer is lying when he says that a person must "continue on" to validate their salvation in the eyes of God. No Sir, that is a lie of the Devil. Jesus paid a debt that He did not owe, because we owed a debt that we could not pay. One's salvation, if it is genuine, is based entirely upon the finished redemptive work of Christ, when He applied His physical blood to the Mercy Seat in Heaven (Hebrews 9:12). We are saved solely by the blood of Jesus that washes our sins away (1st John 1:7; Revelation 1:5).

The King James Bible mentions the words impute, imputeth, imputing and imputed 15-times. Tragically, the New International Version (NIV) of the Bible entirely removes the word "impute" in every form. No wonder the doctrine of imputation has disappeared in our churches and the hellish heresy of Lordship Salvation has saturated America's churches. Lordship Salvation is a disease, a plague, an epidemic from the pits of Hell that IGNORES the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ. The New International Version is a piece of vile garbage and if you have one, destroy it please!

Think about this friend... If God imputes (i.e., places Christ's righteousness upon our record) at the time of salvation, then why would we have to "continue on" in belief and repentance to have "true security" as Washer's teaches? That is works salvation! Paul Washer clearly teaches that continuing on in faith and repentance are REQUIREMENTS for salvation...

"The evidence that you are truly converted today is that you will continue on. If only most of the Americans had been told that, they would not be resting in false security today."

SOURCE: Sermon by Paul Washer, A Challenging Message From Paul Washer.

Washer is tricky in his words. Although he speaks of "evidences" of salvation, he also plainly makes it clear that those "evidences" are a requirement for salvation. In effect, Washer has combined the FRUIT of a believer's faith (James 2:18-21) with the ROOT of a believer's faith (Romans 4:5). To do so is damnable heresy and a guaranteed road to Hell. The doctrines of Lordship Salvation and the Perseverance of the Saints are foreign to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Both doctrines are rooted in works salvation. Paul Washer is clearly a follower of John Calvin, who errantly taught that a believer will continue in faith and repentance as part of salvation.

Such notions completely abandon the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ which is WITHOUT WORKS... "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." Amen! How can anyone argue with Romans 4:5? ... HIS FAITH IS COUNTED FOR RIGHTEOUS!!! There is nothing mentioned here about "continuing on" in faith and repentance as Washer foolishly teaches. There is NO controversy if you believe the Bible. Salvation is without works and "continuing on" in anything is a work of self-righteousness! Again, a changed life is the FRUIT of genuine repentance and not a part of saving-faith.

Conclusion

Paul Washer may be sincere; but he is sincerely wrong. Countless people have been deceived by Paul Washer's perverted gospel message. Carefully consider what Washer teaches...

But let's say that a person comes forward or a person is out there with us in a park somewhere and they say, "Yes, I believe, I believe he saved me today." You should say, "Praise God!" But then, then, you should say, "Now listen to me very clearly. If you have indeed repented of your sins and believed, God has saved you; but the evidence that you have truly repented and believed unto salvation is that you will continue repenting and believing..."

If you tell this to someone, you have perverted the Gospel. Washer is clearly teaching that for one's salvation to be valid, they must put forth the effort to “continue repenting and believing."” This is not Biblical. Salvation is a gift. If I were to give you a gift, but then require you to continue doing something as a condition of receiving it, then it certainly wouldn't be a gift. To get to Heaven, we need HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS... “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). Paul Washer wrongly requires sinners to put forth their own righteousness, i.e., to continue repenting, to be saved.

Paul Washer believes that a person is saved by grace through faith, but if works don't follow then they never got saved to begin with (so in effect, works are being mandated for salvation). These men are evil, trying to do the job of the Holy Spirit. When you get saved, the Holy Spirit comes to live in your body; but you DON'T CHANGE ONE BIT. Old habits are still there. Ignorance of spiritual things is still there. Fleshly lusts and sinful tendencies are all still there. A new convert must be mentored to grow in grace (Matthew 28:19-20), desiring the sincere milk of the Word to grow thereby (1st Peter 2:2).

Dr. John R. Rice Refutes Lordship Salvation

If one understands the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ to the believer's record (Romans 4:5-6), made possible only through His precious applied blood in Heaven (1st Peter 1:18-19; Hebrews 9:12-24), then imposters like Paul Washer and Ray Comfort are quickly exposed as false prophets. In Calvinism and Lordship Salvation, which teach the perseverance of the Saints if they are saved, the burden is heavy upon the sinner. Paul Washer even says to go tell new converts that if they don't work hard at living holy, surrendering to Christ, and fearing God, that they'll go to Hell because it shows they never got saved. Paul Washer is teaching demonic doctrines!!! To tell a person that God saved them by grace, but now you had better go live right or you didn't really trust Jesus and are going to hell. That's INSANE!!!

Anytime some preacher places the burden and responsibility of salvation upon men's shoulders, by requiring a changed life as being necessary to seal our salvation, you can be assured they are of the Devil. Jesus paid it all. Beware of Paul Washer's corrupt gospel!
