It’s amazing the "hoodwink" the media and the producers of the "teen idol-rock-world" has pulled on the average parent. The "teen idol" picture painted by the image-makers is a "baby-innocent, squeaky-clean, puppy-love, high-morals, boy-next-door" portrait.

As one "fooled" mother comments in Express Writer:, "Their [Backstreet Boys] focus is on good morals. . ." (Express Writer, Sunday, August 16, 1998)

Well, mom, you might better sit down and fasten your seat belt. . . this ride might get rough. . .

Somehow, we've bought the "lie" that the adolescent or teenage years of "foolishness" bears no lasting scars. We've gotten the idea our young people are somehow "magically" protected in their early "rebellious" years. You’ve heard the line, "they’ll grow out of it". Let them have a good time; you're only young once; let them "sow their wild oats" — they're only kids – they’ll grow out of it.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. Galatians 6:7-8

". . .for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. . ." — that certainly includes young people. The proof. . . Our prisons are "ringing" with the "cries" of deceived young people that believed they would NOT "reap what they sowed". Over 100,000 abortions a year, are the "crops" of deceived young girls "murdering" their little babies because they "reaped what they sowed". Being young, foolish, and easily deceived — they believed they would "get away with it". It's just innocent fun. After all, everybody else does it — and they get away with it. . .

And God says "be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."

Job chapter 20:11 carries a stern warning to this foolish philosophy of "they’re just kids. . . they’ll grow out if it. . . it’s just adolescent rebellion". Job warns, "His bones are full of the sin of HIS YOUTH. . ."

"His bones are full of the SIN of his YOUTH, which shall lie down with him in the dust." Job 20:11

Who that saw and heard the "horrors" of Columbine or Mississippi, or numerous "teenage killing fields"; splattered with the slaughtered blood of America's young people — murdered by another "innocent" young person – a "deceived, cold-blooded-killer". No. They don’t always grow out of it. . .

No. The teenage years are some of the most important, if not the most important years in a person’s life. Those are the years that major, life-long decisions are made. Decisions that will direct their path for years, and generations – both good and bad. I’ve spent over ten years in the rescue mission ministry. I’ve counseled with hundreds of men, ranging from drug addicts to sex perverts to bankers, and most of those men will tell you, that decisions and influences during their teenage years destroyed their life.

Knowing the importance of those early foundational years — should we blindly "close our eyes" to the "puppy-love" music of the Backstreet Boys, et al. and hope everything turns out ok? Or should we obey our Lord?

The Lord very clearly commands us to ". . .prove ALL things. . ."

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 1 Thess. 5:22

Prove ALL things — ALL would certainly include the Backstreet Boys, N’Sync, Britney Spears and Co.

The teenage years are a major defining point in a person’s life. It’s a time when a person starts to develop sexually. It’s a time when the physical body begins developing into a young man or young woman. It’s a God-given time when attraction to the opposite sex becomes a significant part of their young life. It can be a very confusing and difficult time.

Newsweek magazine writes of the "tween" years (between 8 – 14), "Under the best circumstances, these can be difficult years. It's a time of tremendous neurological growth, comparable only to the period just after infancy . . ." (The Truth About Tweens, Newsweek, October, 10, 1999, p 62)

The Center for Parent/Youth Understanding writes:

"Popular music always has directive power. That power increases as the age of the targeted audience decreases. The reason? Younger kids are more impressionable due to the developmental stage they're at. And if not careful, as the old saying goes, "things can quickly get out of hand".

And The Bible recognizes the seriousness of these teenage years. The Bible commands the young person to "…Flee also youthful lusts…"

"Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22

The Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, Britney Spears, Spice Girls, and such music is specifically "aimed" toward direct, disobedience to 2 Timothy 2:22. Instead of "fleeing youthful lusts" their whole purpose is to create literally a "fleshly feeding frenzy" of "youthful lusts".

If you think these "bubble-gum-fluffy-love-songs" are clean, sweet, innocent "puppy-love" tunes — you obviously haven’t listened closely to what’s penetrating your young daughter or sons’, impressionable, naïve, mind. . .

BACKSTREET BOYS

The BackStreet Boys sing in "Lay Down Beside Me":

If they weren't referring to sex, at least indirectly — why didn't they use the clear word — lie. "Lie down beside me" is obviously much clearer. But with lyrics like "I wanna feel your BODY NEXT TO MINE, And before the NIGHT is over" — that would be like putting "whip cream on an onion".

By the way, how many of you "old-fogies" can remember the outcry over Bob Dylan's "openly-sexually-titled", "Lay, Lady, Lay" — many radio stations refused to play it, simply because of the name! Everyone knows what "Lay Down Beside Me" means.

The BackStreet Boys proudly sing of trying to rob a young girl’s virginity in "Boys Will Be Boys":

God says "Flee fornication" — the Backstreet Boys say, "My body's calling for you, So please don't hesitate. . ."

The Backstreet Boys ask the question in "Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)" – ‘Am I sexual’?

Entertainment Weekly describes a BackStreet Boys concert as an adolescent "sexual awakening"!

"When Nick Carter — the youngest, blondest, and most yelp-inducing Boy — blurts out the ludicrous line ‘Am I sexual?’ hordes of 8- to 15-year-old girls clutch their throwaway cameras and scream their braces off. Another night, another 10,000 sexual awakenings. (So Shoot Me!. . . ...I can't help being a Backstreet Boys Fan, Entertainment Weekly, September 4, 1998)

And if you don’t believe young teenage girls respond to the Backstreet Boys "sexual awakenings" — according to Spin Magazine, when the "boys" sung the line "Am I sexual?" during their Orlando concert, ". . . the girls roar and pound the floorboards so violently two roadies rush to secure the speakers." Oh, if you think the BackStreet Boys are young, naïve, innocent teenagers – think again – their ages are 19, 21, 24, 25 and 27 years of age! (as of July 1999)

And the average age of a young person to attend a Backstreet Boy’s "sexual awakening" concert – 12 years old! (In Bed With ... the Backstreet Boys, Spin Magazine, July 1998)

Spin magazine tells of one 15-year-old girl, during a Backstreet Boys concert who, ". . . pushed my way to the front of the stage, and there was some 12-year-old standing in front of me on a crate!" The 15-year-old girl knocked down the 12-year-old from the crate and then, ". . . climbed onto the crate, ripped off her bra and threw it at Nick, . . ." (In Bed With ... the Backstreet Boys, Spin Magazine, July 1998)

Backstreet Boy, "AJ", who Smash Hits magazine calls the "dancing devil" (Smash Hits, August 1998), told Teen Magazine, ". . I'm the complete opposite of every clean-cut, decent looking guy you could think of, . . ." (The Boys Are Back, Teen Magazine, July 1999)

He’s not kidding. . . "AJ" proves it with such "indecent" quotes in Backstreet Boys (Starlog Celebrity Series Presents #20), "Why do men have nipples? For girls to kiss!" or "When I see an attractive girl, I look at her eyes, if she’s looking at me, but if she’s not, look at her booty. I watch it go from side to side. . ."

The "boys" sing in "I Need You Tonight" – "it doesn’t matter if it’s right or wrong — I need you tonight. . ."

How many of you fathers or mothers would like a 27-year-old singing to your, young, vulnerable, teenage daughter the following words – "If you want IT TO BE GOOD girl, get yourself a BAD boy . . . If you want it wild, . . . if you really like it hot. . . if you like it innovated . . . get yourself a bad boy" And they naturally sing to their young "victims" — ". . . And mama shouldn't know . . "

I realize some parents reading this is in shock – but you need to wake up! There are people in the music business that are corrupting your young children!

To get a clear documented picture of just how serious and real this "sexual awakening" among the "tweens" is, according to a study published in the Pediatrics journal, most girls show signs of puberty [sexual maturity] at age 10, but get this – according to Pediatrics, at the turn of the 20^th century the age was 15! (The Truth About Tweens, Newsweek, October, 18, 1999, p 62)

Here’s another CLEAR indicator from Newsweek magazine, documenting this alarming increase of the "sexual awakening" of tweens:

"There are indications that some kids . . . are also becoming sexually active at an alarmingly early age. According to a 1997 Centers for Disease Control study, 6.5 percent of ninth-grade girls—compared with only 2.9 percent of 12th graders—said they had had sex before the age of 13. Boys showed a similar increase: 14.7 percent of ninth graders said they'd already been sexually active, while only 6.0 percent of 12th graders said they'd had sex before the age of 13." (The Truth About Tweens, Newsweek, October, 18, 1999, p 62)

Here’s an interesting "co-inky-dinky": In the Backstreet Boys CD liner, somebody "forgot" to include the lyrics to "If You Want It To Be Good Girl (Get Yourself A Bad Boy)" or "Get Down", etc. But they did include the lyrics for "Quit Playing Games (With My Mind)" "As Long As You Love Me", "All I Have to Give", and "Anywhere for You". I wonder why? Could it be they didn’t want mommy and daddy to see the lyrics? Remember in the song "If You Want It To Be Good (Get Yourself A Bad Boy)", one line says, ". . . mama shouldn't know . . ."

Have you seen Rolling Stone magazine (January 2000) with the "innocent" Backstreet Boys on the cover? With their pants dropped down to their knees! Hum. . . I wonder what they mean by that?

After all this "youthful lusts", now here’s a "goodie" — Smash Hits Magazine claims the "boys" have a "ritual prayer" before they take the stage!

"What do the lads do before they go on stage? They all have a ritual prayer!" (The Backstreet Boys Tell Us Everything..., Smash Hits - August 1998)

I got some enlightening news for the "boys". . . If they are praying to the Holy God of the Bible – they’re wasting their time!

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: Psalm 66:18

Despite the above examples (and there are plenty more. . .) of blatant, sexual lyrics, Kevin of the "boys" spews forth a "whopper" when he claims the reason the male gender has eluded them — "Cause we're not talking about sex and drugs, . . " (So Shoot Me!. . . I can't help being a Backstreet Boys Fan, Entertainment Weekly, September 4, 1998)

In Psalms 55:21, the Lord gives this warning:

The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords. Psalm 55:21

The Backstreet Boy's Millennium album shattered the previous "first week" record sales with 1.13 million copies — a record many in the music industry believed unbreakable . . .

Until. . .

'N Sync zoomed pass the BackStreet Boy's previous record-breaking "first week" sales, like a speeding bullet — No Strings Attached's "first week" sales were an incredible 2.41 million copies!

The song "Digital Get Down" from N'Sync's No Strings Attached, also breaks the record for "teen-idol-perversion". TV Guide describes it as "R-rated oomph" and says, "'Digital Get Down' could be interpreted as hailing the joys of cybersex." (April 1, 2000, p. 26)

Hey Mom check out these "clean-cut" lyrics from 'N Sync's "Digital Get Down":

With all the pedophiles and perverts stalking the Internet, "as a roaring lion, seeking whom they may devour" (I Peter 5:8) - that's just what our young people need — their "teen idols" encouraging them to engage in sexual "phone" or "cybersex"!

When asked by TV Guide about "Digital Get Down's" obvious sexual content, Justin Timberlake says with a grin, "I think it's quite safe sex if you ask me," (April 1, 2000, p. 26)

If you're looking for the lyrics to "Digital Get Down" on the included CD lyrics — quit — they're not there! Could it be they don't want mom to see what they're really singing? Of course, they include the lyrics to the "fluffies"; "Bye, Bye, Bye", "Space Cowboy", "This I Promise You" and "No Strings Attached".

Their song "Bringin' Da Noise" on No Strings Attached says:

Lose your mind
Let your body take control. . .
Just shake it girl
And enjoy the ride
Do what you feel inside

In their song "I Just Wanna Be With You", N’Sync doesn’t leave much to the imagination, as they sing, ". . . girl, you’re turning me on . . . lead me to your water. . . my love is insane, pleasure and pain. . ."

In the song, "You Got It", N’Sync, sings "

You got it - I want it
I'll do whatever it takes
You got it - I need it
Your love is what makes my heart break
Let me tell you how I feel
I need your lovin', girl give it to me
Never met a girl like you
I know you'll like the crazy things we'll do

In the song, "I’m Crazy for You," N’Sync sings, "I wanna rock with you".

By the way, in case you didn’t know, "rock" is a euphemism for fornication.(Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock & Roll, p. 474)

As N’Sync member, Justin Timberlake was recording the song, "That’s When I’ll Stop Loving You", songwriter Diane Warren, gushes, "It’s a hit already," producer Guy Roche says, "I see panties flying!". (Entertainment Weekly, March, 05, 1999, pp 20+) Those "panties flying" are referring to pre-teens and teens, who remove and throw their "bras" and "panties" to their "gods", such as N’Sync, and Backstreet Boys, during their "sexual wakenings", also called a "rock concert".

Some "innocent, wholesome" signs held up during concerts by very young, female teens and preteens ask their "teen idols" to "Drop your pants!" (Entertainment Weekly, March, 05, 1999, pp 20+) The Backstreet Boys granted their request, the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine shows the "boys" with their pants "dropped" to their ankles!

George Washington University professor (and author of Just Another Girl) says of N'Sync's sexually stimulated teen fans:

"They are responding to boys who are offering themselves as sexually desirable and visually pleasurable objects of consumption. . ." (Rolling Stone, March 30, 2000, p. 58)

Of course, the 'N Sync "boys" follow the "party-line" by thanking God and the Lord Jesus Christ on their album, but then turn around in their song "Space Cowboy" (also featuring the sexually-provocative TLC Lisa "Left Eye" Lopez) and take a "swipe" at the Bible and prophecy:

Ready or not, make it hot

Rolling Stone magazine frighteningly describes 'N Sync's music as "darker stuff, like teen horror movies and grunge" and ". . .brimming with the pent-up tension of teenhood: the urgency of unfulfilled, misunderstood desires, burbling hormones and unbearable, overwhelming feelings"(Rolling Stone, March 30, 2000 p. 55)

If "ultra-liberal-rock'n rolling" Rolling Stone magazine describes 'N Sync's music as such — multiply it "four-fold" for the normal person!

And of course, we can’t forget the young boys.

And Britney Spears provides plenty of "youthful lusts" for all the "young boys".

Interesting in the book "Britney Spears, The Unauthorized Biography", Britney clearly describes the meaning of all her songs — except one — "Soda Pop". For "Soda Pop's" meaning she says, "Who knows? It's just a whole lotta fun". (Jackie Robb, "Britney Spears, The Unauthorized Biography", p. 71) Guess which song is Britney's favorite — you guessed it — the "who knows the meaning" Soda Pop! (Ibid, p. 120)

One line in Britney’s "mega-hit" single "Baby One More Time" says, ". . . Hit me baby one more time. . ."

I wonder what she means by "HIT ME baby one more time"? In case you don’t know, to "hit on" someone is a term for "sexual desires".

I guess it’s just an "oversight" that the lyrics to "Soda Pop" is not included in Britney’s CD? They did include the lyrics to "Baby One More Time", "Sometimes", "Born To Make You Happy" and "From the Bottom of My Broken Heart". Could be they didn’t want mom and dad to see what Britney’s singing?

Britney appeared very scantily clad on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine (Rolling Stone, April 15, 1999). Iowa State Daily, describes the "cover photo" as, ". . . the latest cover of Rolling Stone magazine features a barely-clad Spears wearing little more than a bra and a smile. . ." (Iowa State Daily, April 5, 1999).  Inside the Rolling Stone article Britney was photographed in several overtly suggestive and revealing poses, to say the least. The title of the article was subtlety titled "Britney Spears: Inside the Heart, Mind & Bedroom Of a Teen Dream".

The Wall of Sound writes concerning Britney’s Rolling Stone cover:

"The suggestive Britney Spears photo spread in the latest Rolling Stone magazine had plenty of eyeballs bulging and tongues wagging at the 17-year-old pop phenom's physique, adding sex appeal to Spears' clean-and-innocent image. . .

Nevertheless, Spears seems to be untouchable by scandal. ‘I think it's fine and it's tasteful,’ she told MTV in reference to the controversial Rolling Stone spread."

An MSN article titled, "Exploit me, baby, One more time" had some very frightening insights into Britney’s very suggestive Rolling Stone magazine photos:

"A recent Rolling Stone cover featured a pedophile's dream photo spread: suggestive bedroom pics of 17-year-old pop sensation Britney Spears ("Hit Me Baby, One More Time") posing in underwear and high heels with her little girl dolls on the shelf behind her.  Another equally exploitative shot of the former Mouseketeer shows her in short shorts with the word "Baby" written in rhinestones on her butt cheeks. In this one she is holding the handlebars of a little pink and white girl's banana seat bike.  As if she were a "finger-lickin' good" menu item at KFC, the article begins with a description of Spears' "honeyed thighs" and quickly works its way up to "her ample breasts pushing against her T-shirt." An article in the Iowa State Daily had a disturbing analysis of Britney:

"There aren't very many men on campus who haven't drooled over the image of Britney Spears on MTV strutting and flipping around in her little Catholic school girl's uniform with her blouse open to show her bra; shirt tied beneath her breasts revealing her tight tummy and navel; a skirt so farcically short that it makes a mockery of private, religious education." If Elvis Presley or the Rolling Stones had originally sung such filthy lyrics – they’d have been "run out of town"!

When Elvis Presley, appeared on the Ed Sullivan show, they wouldn’t even show his body below the waist because of the sexual gyrations!

And get this — in 1967, when the Rolling Stones appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show", they were not allowed to sing the lyrics, "Let’s Spend the Night Together" – instead, they changed the lyrics to "Let’s Spend Some Time Together"!

By the way, did you happen to see the clothes (or lack of. . .) teenage Britney Spears was wearing at the 27^th American Music Awards (January 17, 2000)?  Britney would make the "scarcely-attired" Spice Girls look like "Little House on the Prairie". As one startled viewer remarked, she, ". . . may as well have come naked to the awards show. . ." One mother said, "I kept thinking to myself... ‘Britney Spears is a teenager...why would her mother let her dress like that?’"

Jon Bream writes in the Minneapolis Star Tribune:

"On ‘The American Music Awards’ Monday night, the 18-year-old pop star [Britney Spears] wore an unbelievable stare-at-me jumper, for which the wide neckline plunged past her navel. (Someone described it as a backless dress worn backwards; it was backless, by the way, and don't ask me to explain how she kept it secured.) I'm no prude, but that isn't the kind of outfit someone who has a big influence on young people should be wearing on prime-time TV. This kind of racy/ sexy/trashy ensemble is what music followers might expect from Carmen Electra, Pamela Anderson Lee or Mariah Carey. But Britney? No way." Fashion critic Joan Rivers was asked her opinion of Britney’s attire:

"So what did Joan think of the barely-there tops worn by Britney Spears, Mariah Carey and others at this year's American Music Awards?

"I think if you took all their dresses and put them together,’ she says, ‘you still wouldn't have enough for one dress.’"(Rivers Still Trashin’ Fashions, The London Free Press, January, 22, 2000, p. C5, emphasis added).

And Britney's recent "strip-tease" act on MTV Awards 2000 brought a new-low to "filth & flesh" TV!

"Britney Spears, who pretty much stripped herself of any goody two-shoes image at the MTV Music Video Awards show, completes the job in October's Elle by giving her approval to women who sleep with men outside of love, and declaring Sex and the City her favorite show. After Briteny's "eye-poping, bump-grinding, pseudo-strip-tease" act at the MTV Awards, host Marlon Wayans remarked, "She's gone from the Mickey Mouse Club to the strip club!"

No wonder, Entertainment Weekly's Ken Tucker describes Britney Spears' as "semi-porn, sweatpant chic" and "an end-of-century sex kitten" (Ken Tucker, Entertainment Weekly, 12/24/99).

I've had many people email and say, "Hey, Britney's not like that! All that 'sexual stuff' is the directors and producers ideas. It's not Britney's idea!. It's just a sell job! She's just being 'used' by them".

Not so. In Britney's sexually enticing video, "Baby One More Time," the producers' idea was an innocent, clean, cartoonish, superhero theme. And it was Britney, who insisted on the sexually-charged-bare-midriff schoolgirl image. "She genuinely wanted to go down that road," says the video's director, Nigel Dick. "It wasn't like we pushed Britney into doing anything. Most of the time you have to hold her back a bit." "Suggestions that Spears's handlers at Jive Records are exploiting her are, claims her co-manager Larry Rudolph, way off base. 'The record company wanted to keep things squeaky-clean, and she went along with it at first,' he says. 'But it quickly became clear that it wasn't natural for her. Elle's recent article on Britney completely removed the "squeaky-clean" Spears mask — as the REAL Spears "freely employs the f-word", "approves of sex outside of marriage", and freely admits she's "addicted" to the sexually-explicit Sex and the City TV show:

My conversations with most Christian kids indicate they are moving in the same direction on both fronts. . ." In Elle magazine, Britney names Madonna as one of her idols, and she admits Madonna's career is the one she'd most like to emulate (Elle, Oct 2000, p. 331).

Britney, who often, parades her Baptist faith, somehow must have missed 1 Timothy 2:9:

"In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in MODEST APPAREL, with shamefacedness and sobriety; . . ." 1 Timothy 2:9

Try reading Proverbs 6, among many others:

24. To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
25. Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
26. For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
27. Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
28. Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? Proverbs 6:23-28

The Lord asks a very serious question — "Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?"

And notice the context – sexual impurity — "lust . . . whorish woman . .. adultery".

Is there anyone, foolish and naïve enough, to believe young people can listen to this music, glorifying "youthful lust" and fornication, hour after hour, and it not effect them?

If you do – according to God – you are deceived!

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. Galatians 6:7-8

If you "sow" lyrics of lusts and fornication – they’ll reap the fruits of lusts and fornication!

Young person, one of the most precious gifts you can possess is your sexual purity. Despite what the Backstreet Boys, N-Sync, Britney Spears and the world may "sing" – one of the greatest wedding gifts you can possibly give your future spouse and your parents, is that virtuous, purity. That love and dedication that says, "I’m virtuous, I’m pure. I’ve saved myself just for you".

A virtuous woman is a CROWN to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones. Proverbs 12:4

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10

I know of one Christian dad whose Christian daughter was to be married. Right before the wedding, she told her dad, "Dad, I’ve got a special gift for you today." She said, "I’ve been waiting and waiting for years to present this special present just to you." The dad couldn’t imagine what she was talking about. She looked at her dad and said, "In a few minutes, I’m going to married. And I’m going to kiss my husband for the very first time." And even though she was a young lady . . . And even though she had dated this young man for some time. . . She said, "Dad, I wanted to kiss him many, many times." But she said, "My lips have never touched his, and Dad, more than anything, I wanted to present this to you this day". You talk about one happy, proud, dad. What a gift! A virtuous son or daughter! Her price is far, far, far above rubies! Proverbs 31:10

There is an element of worship inherently built in the nature and soul of every man. Scientist and archeologists have never discovered a village, a tribe or a group of people, no matter how primitive, that does not have worship. They didn’t always worship the right God. Sometimes it was nature. . . Sometimes it was the sun. . . But worship is always there.

And worship is never stronger or purer than that of a child. Anyone who’s had the privilege to pray with a young child knows how real and simple their faith is. Oh, that we had the simple heart and faith of a child!

The Lord Jesus spoke this truth, so beautifully, in Matthew 18:3:

"And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:3

A very enlightening survey was conducted by the Barna Research Group. The survey’s purpose was to research the age in which people accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. According to the Barna Research, "The data show that if a person does not accept Jesus Christ as savior before the age of 14, the likelihood of ever doing so is slim."

Barna Research went on to say, "if they’re not saved by age 13, they probably never will." (Third Millennium Teens, Barna Research, p. 65)

This is what the Lord Jesus Christ told us several times.

And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. Mark 10:13-15

This truth is also emphasized in Ecclesiastes 12:1 (as in many other verses), as the writer says, "Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not . . "

"Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;" Eccl 12:1

"Train up A CHILD in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

An alarming fact discovered by the Barna Research Group is, "if they’re not saved by age 13, they probably never will." (Third Millennium Teens, Barna Research, p. 65)

In other words, if you can somehow "dazzle" that young person into their teenage years without accepting Jesus Christ, chances are that soul will spend eternity in a lake of fire!

Satan knows if he can somehow satisfy that spiritual hunger that is most evident in the early years – more than likely — he’s "damned" that person for all eternity!

Satan certainly knows the power and influence of music. Ezekiel 28 gives some descriptive insight into Satan before his eventual fall, verse 13 reads:

"Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy TABREST and of thy PIPES was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created." Ezekiel 28:13

Tabrets and pipes are the basis of musical instruments! Satan knows the power of music – and he knows the vulnerability of the teenage years – and you’d better believe he knows, far better than Barna Research, the fact that most people will receive Jesus Christ as their Savior before the teenage years!

"Rock" that young person through the teenage years. . . Fill that spiritual void with "good ol’ rock’n roll" – and chances are – they’ll never accept Jesus Christ as Savior!

"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." Revelation 20:15

George Harrison, a devout follower of the Hindu god – Krishna, knows the vulnerability of the teenage years. Harrison told Rolling Stone Magazine:

"The main thing is to get the kids. . . nail you when you’re young and brainwash you, then they’ve got you for the rest of your life."

And there is nothing more influential to the average young person than their music. It dictates to them how they dress. . . how they wear their hair. . . their vocabulary. . . They "dance" to the "tune" of today’s musical "pied pipers"!

Professor Alan Bloom writes in his best-selling book, The Closing of the American Mind:

"Today, a very large proportion of young people between the ages of ten and twenty live for music. It is their passion; nothing else excites them as it does; they cannot take seriously anything alien to music. . . "(Dr. Alan Bloom, The Closing of the American Mind, p.68)

And the music is especially "aimed" at young people – at a time in their life, according to Barna Research, when they most likely will accept Jesus Christ as Savior!

Professor Alan Bloom details this important fact in his book:

"Never was there an art form directed so exclusively to children. . . The music business is peculiar only in that it caters almost exclusively to children, treating legally and naturally imperfect human beings as though they were ready to enjoy the final or complete satisfaction." (Dr. Alan Bloom, The Closing of the American Mind, p.74, 77)

Dr. Paul King, medical director of the adolescent program at Charter Lakeside Hospital, in Memphis Tennessee, says more than 80 percent of his teenage patients are there because of rock music. Dr. King, says, "the lyrics become a philosophy of life, a RELIGION."

And there is no music that the fans are more devoted, more loyal and "worshipped" more than the "bubble-gum-tween-heart-throb-gods" of the Backstreet Boys, N-Sync, Britney Spears, and such! Heavy metal, country, pop, grunge, thrash, hip-hop, R&B, rap, and classical – can’t even "play in the same ball park" as the "teen idols"!

Get this! In just the last two years – the Backstreet Boys, N’Sync and Britney have sold over 30 million albums! Over half a billion (that’s Billion with a "B") in "idolized" merchandize – from bedspreads to hats! In just two years! No wonder an Elektra Records executive remarked, "This teen stuff isn't just driving the music business, it is the music business." (Entertainment Weekly, March, 05, 1999, pp 20+)

If you don’t believe these "teen gods" are "worshipped" by today’s teenagers – read the following examples (and many, many more could be given):

In Charleston, West Virginia, fans camped outside in 4 degrees for just a chance to buy concerts to a Britney Spears concert! (The Birmingham News, January, 25, 2000, p.2A) How many Christians do you know are that devoted to their God? When’s the last time you’ve seen Christians camping out in 4 degrees weather for the Lord Jesus Christ?

In an interview with Britney and some her fans aired July 10, 1999 on ET, the following dialogue with a Spears fan too place:

Tush: And you're obsessed with Britney?
Unidentified Fan: I'm obsessed. I'd do anything for her. . . I live for Britney Spears, you don't understand. I live for Britney Spears. I live for her. . . Like my life wouldn't be complete without her. (ET, July 10, 1999)

Read these worship services:

"The countdown to the Backstreet Boys' Las Vegas concert has begun, and the pop quintet's fans are having another manic attack at the MGM Grand Hotel. It has been an hour since their beloved Boys — Howie Dorough, A.J. McLean, Nick Carter and cousins Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell — dashed through an alley entrance to shower and change before the show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, but the hundreds of hysterical pubescent girls refuse to go away. During an August 18, 1998 Backstreet Boys concert in Edmonton, Canada more than 50 fans were treated for injuries after storming the stage to get close to the Backstreet Boys. Amazingly, many of the injured fans came back for more.

"Actually, the Boys' popularity can be downright dangerous. During an Aug. 18 show in Edmonton, Alta., more than 50 fans were treated by paramedics after a horde of people surged toward the stage. Amazingly, many injured fans came back for more. "I was in tears because I was happy," says Heather Tasko, 13, who escaped with bruised ribs. "I was lucky to even get close to the stage. It was the best day of my life." (Boy Wonders, People Magazine, Sept. 14. 1998)

A photographer who was caught in the middle of the "stage surge" in Edmonton described the tweens as "The girls were like piranhas in a feeding frenzy".

"Teens weren't the only ones caught in the crush. From his swollen knee, you'd think Sun photographer Perry Mah had just returned from a war in Europe or the Middle East. He was stuck between the stage and the crowd.
‘I was scared,’ said the shooter.

‘The girls were like piranhas in a feeding frenzy. These kids didn't care about anything but getting to the front of the stage. It was a stampede., (Edmonton Sun, Thursday, August 20, 1998)

"I need a bigger room to put up all my posters. I've run out of space,'' laments Heather Tasko, 13, of her bedroom walls crammed with 1,000 posters and pictures. "If you ask any of my friends they'd say I'm very obsessed with them."

Stephanie Aguar, 14, of Toronto, braved the cold for hours before the 7:30 p.m. concert on the MuchMusic stage because "we love them. We just want a glimpse, just to touch one of them." "I've been here since four this morning. I just love Howie," said Gulshan Vazir, 13." (Backstreetmania, Toronto Sun, Monday, January 5, 1998)

Literally, the souls of millions of young people could be in serious danger.
