Adultery is a Sin!
By David J. Stewart | April 2005 | Updated December 2019
“Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled:
but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”
—Hebrews 13:4
Adultery is a horrible sin. It is tragic that so many people take the sin of adultery lightly, making TV shows such as, CALIFORNICATION, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and WIFE SWAP. Marriage is holy and sacred. Jeremiah 5:8, “They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour's wife. Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?” This is the United States today. America is worse than Sodom and Gomorrah!
A fireplace is wonderful, warm and beautiful to look at. But if the fire gets outside of the fireplace, it'll burn your house down. That's the way your lust is. God made a fireplace. It's called marriage. God expects you to keep the fire in the fireplace. But if you let the fire out of the fireplace, it'll burn your life up!
Let me tell you something about an adulterous affair. Women go into adultery because they love attention and affection. Men go into adultery for sex. So when men get the sex, they don't so-called “love” you anymore. You're now emotionally tied to them, so you get bitter and mean, and you try to destroy them, because they hurt you and left you. And that's where the dilemma of adultery comes in. This is just one of the many consequences of the sin of adultery.
Divorce And Remarriage In Light Of The Bible (Baptist preaching by Pastor Steven Anderson)
Please listen to the life-changing MP3 sermon, “Benefits Of Total Obedience” by Evangelist Phil Kidd (this is the kind of preaching against adultery that you won't hear in most churches today). We all need hard preaching to help us think right! If you're attending a lukewarm church that doesn't preach against sin, then you need to find a good church where the pastor is a man of God and cares. Our nation is going to Hell because of sin. The great need of the hour is preaching preachers!
Many people today think that fornication (i.e., sex outside of marriage) is acceptable just so long as no marital commitment is involved. That is demonic thinking. The only acceptable sex is within a marriage. That is what Hebrews 13:5 teaches. Fornication is just as wicked as the sin of adultery. Fornication is sex between unmarried people. There are preachers serving life-sentences in prison for having sex with one underaged girl, while Godless Hollywood celebrities brag of fornicating with several thousands of whores! In eternity, God will judge all mankind for every sin (Ecclesiastes 12:14), even for thoughts (Proverbs 24:12) and words (Matthew 12:36). Everyone is guilty of horrible sins (Romans 2:1). Don't judge others because they sin differently than you do!
“The world's a fantasy, and it's a bunch of lies! Happiness ain't found in leaving your mate; happiness is found in getting your heart right with God! I've known people who just went from one person to the other for 20 years, and they ain't never been happy, and still ain't! It's the LORD that makes you right, and hands you peace.”—Pastor Danny Castle, a helpful quote from the sermon titled: “The Word Of God Is Not Bound” | MP3
We live in an adulterous generation whose eyes are FULL of adultery...
“Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children” —2nd Peter 2:14
I once heard a preacher make a good statement, he said, “Movies don't make people commit adultery. Adulterous producers make adulterous movies that inspire adulterous people.” And so it is.
In an interview with TV Guide, Gene Simmons of the devilish Rock band, Kiss, bragged that he has had sex with 4,897 women throughout his career. Please understand that I don't condemn anyone, for the Bible condemns all of us as guilty, dirty, rotten, hell-deserving sinners. It is not my place to judge. My salvation solely rests in Christ's righteousness, because of the precious blood that He gave for our sins.
Would Jesus forgive such a man as Gene Simmons? Yes, absolutely! Any sin is forgivable through faith in Jesus Christ...
“To Him [Jesus] give all the prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins.” —Acts 10:43
There is no depth of sin to which a sinner may go, but that God in His love and mercy will forgive that person if they come by way of the blood of Jesus Christ...
“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” —Isaiah 1:18
Amen to that!
American society has been so desensitized by the HELLivision that sexual immorality has become widely acceptable nowadays. Instead of teaching public school teens that premarital sex is a sin in God's eyes, they pass out condoms for them to fornicate and then provide free secretive abortions1 when the condoms fail. The U.S. government and everyone involved in the public school system has trainloads of blood on their hands.
How To Know When Your Mate Is Committing Adultery
(a life-changing and greatly needed MP3 sermon for America today, by Pastor
Danny Castle)
People don't even think twice about divorcing nowadays and remarrying... “Oh well, if this marriage doesn't work out I'll just try another one.” Married couples don't even try to work out their marital problems anymore, they just move on from one failed marriage to the next. This is what Jesus meant by the phrase, “marrying and giving in marriage,” in the last days:
Matthew 24:37-39, “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”
The U.S. legal system is largely to blame for broken families, who've turned divorce into a $50 billion a year racket in America. When a married person files for divorce, the couple are legally forbidden to work things out except through the lawyers, and the lawyers want to see a divorce happen, because they make a lot more money if there is a divorce. If the couple reunites, the lawyers lose money (ill gotten gain), which they would have made. There's no such thing as a friendly divorce! America's judges, prosecutors and lawyers have tons of blood on their ungodly hands!!! I praise God that they'll all be held accountable for everything, even their words (Matthew 12:36). Lawyers and judges are often very mean, cruel and hurtful people, because in their souls they know what they are... devils!
Hollywood is synonymous with adultery. When people sit at home and watch adultery on TV, it is just as wrong as if you invited them into your home to commit adultery in front of you.
Something awful happens when people fall into adultery, the sin God hates. Sexual perversions destroy the very joy of living. With frankness and candor, Dr. Rice takes the reader through the Bible and shows God's attitude toward loose living and the "free sex" of the fast crowd. Homosexuality, abortion and more are discussed. Dr. Rice gives some of the causes of this moral decay and shows the reader the biblical encouragement and answers that Christians need. You may order this helpful and timeless booklet by Dr. John R. Rice from the SWORD of the LORD. Get it for yourself, share it with a friend, and then ask your friend to pass it on to other men. It's a great ministry to get a TRACK RACK at the back of your church; or build your own, and then stock it with soul-winning and other booklets and tracks to help edify your brothers and sisters in Christ. |

The Horrible Sin of Divorce
There are NO Biblical grounds for divorce. Jesus said in Matthew 19:8 that divorce has never been permissible with God, and only by the hardness of one's hard does a divorce occur.
The following Scripture can be taken multiple ways by itself...
“But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.” —Matthew 5:32
However, Jesus plainly commanded forgiveness in Matthew 18:22, not just 7-times; but 70 times 7. If one is to exemplify Jesus Christ in marriage, then divorce is unthinkable, because God never forsakes nor abandons His own (Hebrews 13:5). Self-righteous is often the cause of divorce.
The last time I checked the Bible, It says there's NONE that doeth good...
“They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.” —Romans 3:12-18
Tragically, there are MANY people today who think it's ok to have sexual relations, even with multiple partners, just so long as one is not married. May I say, that is NOT what then Bible teaches.
“Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.” —1st Corinthians 7:2
The only “gay marriage” is between one man and one woman.
The Sin of Women Dressing Immodestly
1st Timothy 2:9, “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array.” The Bible plainly evidences in the account of king David committing adultery with Bath-sheba the dangers of women displaying their naked bodies in public. David went out on his roof and saw Bathsheba bathing naked and the rest is history . . .
2nd Samuel 11:2, “And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bath-sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her.”
Bath-sheba was either careless or deliberately seduced king David. The man after God's own heart chose to commit adultery because of a naked woman. This plainly evidences WHY women ought to wear proper attire in public. Godless women don't care; Christian women do care. It is sinful for whores like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry to lie on the ground in sensual poses, rolling around in lingerie on TV, jumping around in their panties on YouTube, behaving like demon-possessed heathens, and leading the world's young girls to follow their evil example. No wonder the abortion rate is so high, adultery and fornication are epidemic in America, and moral looseness has become the norm. Lesbianism is everywhere, a consequence of unrestrained lusts (Romans 1:24-27). God's curse is upon our nation. Condom or not, fornication and adultery are sins which bring the judgment of God (Romans 1:32; Colossians 3:5-6; Hebrews 13:4).
Christian women who wear pants are largely to blame for the homosexual problem in America, because every time they wear pants they contribute to the unisex movement in America!!! Dr. Hyles is 100% correct, when he preaches:
“This pant-wearing crowd is sapping the femininity of our girls! And that's why when they put a skirt on, they show half their body, and show their thighs—They don't know how to sit, because they wear pants half the time! I'm saying, Go home and burn your britches! ... You can walk out that door mad, but you know tonight—You know tonight—That the unisex crowd is pleased with your trousers!”
SOURCE: “Unisex,” a truthful MP3 sermon by Pastor Jack Hyles
Bravo Dr. Hyles!!! Amen! Brother Hyles' “Unisex” sermon is packed full of practical wisdom, common sense and Biblical morality. The healthiest thing for our nation today would be to get back to good old fashioned decency. Our girls ought to dress, behave and play with girl's toys. And our boys need to dress, act and play with boy's toys. Unisex is synonymous with homosexuality. The U.S. has become so wicked today, that toy stores across America no longer feature separate “boys” and “girls” sections for toys. Ladies and gentleman, we have descended to the bottom of civilization. Put your seat belts on folks, because this insanity is only going to get much worse. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!!!
Nothing has changed in 3,000 years since David and Bath-Sheba. Sexual sins are commonplace in the world today, especially in America, because of all the whorishly unclothed women. Americans live in a sexually degenerate, perverted, and sensual society... a SEX-SICKO SOCIETY! Such women are evil in their hearts, who value the lustful attention of men rather than the praise of God for being a virtuous woman. There are no women any uglier spiritually, than whores like Madonna, Anna Nicole Smith, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry (Hudson), Sandra Bullock, and hundreds more who strip naked for the cameras to make money.
According to a study released in December of 2010 by the Parents Television Council (PTC): “Hollywood is shockingly obsessed with sexualizing teen girls, to the point where underage female characters are shown participating in an even higher percentage of sexual situations than their adult counterparts: 47 percent to 29 percent respectively.”
Proverb
6:29, “So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife;
whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.”
Having Sex With A Person Creates a Lifetime “Soul Tie”
The word adultery is differentiated from the sin of fornication by the involvement of a marriage. Proverbs 6:32, “But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.”
A soul-tie or soul-connection is permanently established by having sex with another person. The Bible teaches that a person who commits adultery lacks understanding and destroys their own soul. The lack of understanding is that the person fails to realize the permanent consequences of the sin of adultery. Proverbs 6:32 evidences that most people who commit adultery fail to see the woeful harm and horrible damage that it causes. You should NEVER have sex with a person to whom you are not married, because you are creating a soul-tie which will last a lifetime and cannot be undone. Creating multiple soul-ties through sexual immorality leads to confusion and more evil, destroying the soul.
The sin of “adultery” means a married person breaking their marriage vows by having sex with another person. The Hebrew word for “adultery” in Proverbs 6:32 is naaph and means “to break wedlock.” When a man and a woman get married, they are “locked” in union. Matthew 19:6, “Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” A soul-tie has been established, bringing two people together as close as is humanly possible, uniting two souls. When a spouse commits adultery, there is now a three-way soul-tie in their heart. A wife who commits adultery will ALWAYS have a soul-tie between the man she slept with beside her husband. No amount of love, forgiveness nor repentance can erase that extramarital soul-tie with that outside influence. The blessedness, specialness and sacredness of one's marriage is forever compromised, corrupted and tarnished. Someone else, a third party (even if you hate that person now and regret your sin), has a soul-tie with you.
Please don't misunderstand, I am not saying that a marriage is doomed because of marital unfaithfulness. A marriage that has suffered unfaithfulness from one or both spouses can actually reunite and rekindle one's devotion for their spouse, becoming even stronger than before. If Peter had not denied knowing Jesus, cursing the Lord's precious name, then Peter would never have been compelled to become the mighty apostle that he was, preaching to thousands of people at Pentecost, where 3,000 souls were saved and added to the Church (Acts 2:41). Again in Acts 4:4 we read that Peter preached and 5,000 men were saved (not including women and youth).
The woman whose sins were many, loved much when she was forgiven in Christ. Luke 7:47, “Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.”
I felt sorry for an Italian man, identified in the court case by lawyers only as Antonio C, who after 77 years of marriage, found love letters in a drawer that his wife (Rosa C) had saved from an adulterous affair 70-years earlier. It devastated the elderly husband that his wife relished the love letters and an adulterous affair that happened over three-quarters-of-a-century earlier. In December of 2011 it quickly became world news that at age 99, Antonio and his wife of 77 years were to become the world's oldest couple to divorce (after discovering that his 96-year-old wife had an affair 70 years ago and kept the love letters). You see my friend, the moment that she committed the act of adultery, she broke her wedlock and created a love triangle. She kept the letters because there was another soul-tie with another man. Antonio and Rosa have five children, a dozen grandchildren and one great-grand child.
Neither I, nor you, have any right to condemn anyone for their sins (James 4:12), for we are all sinners. To condemn anyone for their sins is to condemn our self (Matthew 7:1-5; James 5:9; Romans 14:10-12). God is the only Lawgiver and Judge. Albeit, the Bible teaches that only by the hardness of a person's heart do they file for divorce (Matthew 19:8). Antonio is as much a sinner as Rosa and I believe it was wrong for him to divorce her, especially since she was remorseful and didn't want a divorce. Albeit, I completely understand his anger, hurt and feeling of betrayal. What a sad situation. If anything, this story is solid evidence of the damages and consequences of adultery, even destroying an otherwise happy marriage 77 years later. Sin always has a high price tag.
Thankfully, God has promised in Hebrews 13:5 never to leave nor forsake His children (that is, those sinners who are born-again by faith in the gospel [death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1st Corinthians 15:1-4]. God has promised NEVER to abandon His children. It is not mere coincidence that the preceding verse of Scripture in Hebrews 13:4 speaks concerning marriage and adultery. I believe that God had in mind those who are suffering from broken hearts and loneliness because of marital unfaithfulness by a spouse.
Nothing is as painful as being abandoned and forsaken by a spouse who promised never to depart. God promised in verse 5 never to abandon His own, as an adulterous spouse often does (Verse 4). There's nothing any more cruel than to walk out on a spouse who has sinned, leaving them alone, going your own selfish way in sinful pride. What a wicked thing to do. You are just as big a sinner as your spouse and have no grounds to divorce, no matter what they've done (Matthew 19:8; Romans 14:10-12; James 2:10, 4:12, 5:9; Matthew 7:1-5; Matthew 12:36).
It is very unhealthy psychologically to have multiple sexual partners, because it causes confusion in a person's soul. This is because several soul-ties have been created. In fact, there are countless people in the world today who have had sex with so many partners that they lost count a very long time ago. Some athletes and Rock stars boast of having committed fornication with SEVERAL THOUSANDS of people (and counting). Hebrews 13:4 and Colossians 3:5-6 warn of coming judgment from God.
Evangelist John R. Rice On Homosexuality
The Power Of HIS MIGHT
Ephesians 6:10-12 reads, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” We cannot gain victory over sin by ourselves, we need God's power. This is exactly what Ephesians 6:10 states, “...be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” We are foolish if we attempt to live the Christian life in our own strength, and we will utterly fail. The Bible tells us to be strong IN THE POWER OF HIS MIGHT.
This is why the Apostle Paul could say in 2nd Corinthians 12:9-10, “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”
Beware Of False Prophets Who Permit Divorce
I don't care if your pastor says it's ok to divorce, God says it is a sin (Jeremiah 3:20). I don't care if your divorce agreement says it's ok to remarry, God says it's not if you filled for divorce (1st Corinthians 7:10-11). Women file for divorce more than TWICE the rate of men because of government sponsored women's help programs and pro-bono attorneys who TEACH women to divorce. The Bible teaches that Eve was deceived and not Adam. Biblically (and you can argue with God if you disagree), women are more prone to believe a false prophet (a serpent) than men are.
This does NOT diminish women in any way. There are some women who have doctorates degrees in theology and could not easily be deceived. However, on average most women are not trained as such and are vulnerable to false doctrine. The Bible does not go into great detail, and we don't know exactly why, but we must accept it as a principle of truth that women are the weaker vessel both bodily and doctrinally. ... women are more vulnerable to fall for doctrinal deceit and deception than men are.
Americans are a stiffnecked people, as were the Old Testament Jews...
Jeremiah 5:23-25 and 30-31, “But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone. Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest. Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.... A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?”
Divorce is a sin. The idea that God never intended for anyone to live in misery as a basis for divorce is straight from the Devil. Just as the Lord is patient and longsuffering, so should we be. God has promised NEVER to leave nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). This should be our attitude in marriage. Divorce is ALWAYS caused by sinful pride, selfishness and a hard heart to break one's marriage vows. Divorce is never right. If you give an inch people will take a foot. If you say divorce is ok in certain situations (like adultery), then everyone tries to make their situation adulterous to justify divorce. Women and men will go out of their way in an attempt to legitimize their sinful choice to quit their marriage. GET RIGHT WITH GOD!
Adultery is NOT Biblical grounds for divorce. Jesus meant that if your spouse abandons you, then and only then you may remarry (because your spouse left you alone). And I don't mean within the year either. I'm so sick of people looking for every reason possible to justify divorce. You'll be punished by God in eternity if you quit your marriage.
Hosea and Gomer
There is a wonderful account in the Old Testament about a man named Hosea and his wife, Gomer. They married and had children. The prophet Hosea loved Gomer, but she forsook him in adultery. Hosea was heartbroken and lonely. Years passed. One day Hosea sees his long lost love for sale at a slave market. Hosea's heart leaps for joy when he sees his wife, his heart broken from years of loneliness and he casts the highest bid. Hosea embraces his wife and takes her back into his home. What a precious story!
Oh listen my friend, this is a picture of God's unconditional love; not the type of synthetic love that the world offers. Hosea NEVER gave up on his wife. This is Biblical Christianity.
Please understand that I am not condemning anyone in any way. I didn't write this article to condemn anyone, truly. I am a guilty, dirty, rotten, hell-deserving sinner just like anybody else. We all deserve to burn in the fires of Hell because of our sins. The Bible teaches in Romans 3:12-18...
“They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
I wrote this article to proclaim the Biblical TRUTH that God never gives up on anyway. We may give up on our selves; but God never gives up on us. Likewise, I don't believe one should ever give up on their spouse.
Oh listen my friend, you are on the slave market of sin. Jesus paid your sin debt. Just as Hosea was willing to receive Gomer as she was, so will Jesus save you just as you are. All that God requires is for you to come as a guilty sinner to be forgiven of your sins by Jesus Christ.
Won't you receive Jesus Christ now as your personal Savior? John 1:12, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” How to Go to Heaven
“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it...” —1st Corinthians 10:12-13
