Believing Without Seeing
By David J. Stewart | April 2013
John 20:19, “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”
I am awestruck when I humbly consider the preeminence of Jesus Christ in the world today and throughout history. Our very time system shouts out evidence to the preeminence of Jesus Christ... “BC” means “Before Christ” Not one figure in history was born into this world whose very existence, birth, life and miraculous death was prophesied in detail thousands of years in advance. Only the precious Lord Jesus Christ can lay claim to such grand predictions.
The entire world is against the name of Jesus Christ. Why do you think that is? The Bible tells us in John 7:7, “The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.” Of all the famous figures throughout history, only the Lord Jesus Christ took a stand against the wickedness of the world. Many people blame God for the problems and woes of the world, but Jesus plainly testified that man's sinfulness and evil is the root cause of our troubles. That's why the world hates the Lord, that is, because He testifies against the world that their works are evil. People who love their sins hate the Lord (John 3:20). The fact that the name of Jesus Christ is hated the world over is more solid evidence of the preeminence of Christ.
The apostle Thomas refused to believe that Jesus had risen unless He saw. The Lord had appeared to the rest of the apostles while Thomas was absent and I think it frustrated John. In 1945 a Gnostic manuscript was unearthed, allegedly authored by Christ's disciple, Thomas. It became known as The Gospel Of Thomas. The manuscript doesn't teach that Christ died, was buried and resurrected. In fact, the book casts doubt upon Christ's deity. For good reason the manuscript has been rejected by Christian scholars as heresy, which is exactly what it is. The so-called gospel of Thomas is a fraud.
A popular recent television show presented on Walt Disney's MILITARY HISTORY channel is titled “Who Was Jesus?” speculating about Jesus, casting doubt upon His claim to deity. The program praises speculators for being “honest” people, who will likely never be able to come to any solid conclusions concerning Who Jesus really was? Clearly the narrator of the show is NOT a born-again Christian. Like all their perverted Biblical historical shows, Walt Disney gets it all wrong and attacks Christ's deity. Clearly the show's intent is to shake the viewer's faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God. The apostate TV show propagates the idea (based upon archaeological and historical evidence) that there's absolutely no way of determining whether or not Jesus was really more than a mortal man.
In sharp contrast the Bible teaches in John 20:31, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” The Word of God proclaims that the Gospel Of John was written to convince us that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. I feel sorry for anyone who is so full of doubt that they cannot see the plain truth!!! What the narrator of the “Who Was Jesus?” history program doesn't mention is fulfilled Messianic prophecy (over 300 Messianic fulfilled prophecies). Walt Disney is hellbent on shaking everyone's faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God.
The narrator of the “Who Was Jesus?” program totally ignores Biblical prophetic evidence of Christ's first coming. My friend, if you study the Scriptures you will discover that God's Word has never been wrong. The Bible itself makes repeated bold claims of Christ's deity. Don't let the unbelievers at Walt Disney shake your faith. Walt Disney shows the viewer some limited historical evidence and then propagates the idea that there's no way for anyone to confirm Jesus' deity as God in the flesh. They're only showing you what THEY want you to see, just like the Devil (the serpent) only told Eve in the Garden Of Eden what he wanted her to see, thus distorting the big picture (the truth). Jesus came to earth as almighty God in the flesh.
The wicked program also claims that there were numerous miracle workers at the time of the New Testament besides Jesus, thus diminishing the Lord's miracles as God in the flesh. In sharp contrast to Walt Disney's fraudulent claims, the Bible teaches that Jesus performed miracles that “NONE OTHER MAN DID.” John 15:24, “If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.” The narrator of the “Who Was Jesus?” program chooses only to see what he wants to see, embracing the uninspired fake Gospel Of Thomas, choosing to believe that Jesus was no more miraculous than “Honi the circle-drawer” (which the shows likens Jesus to) and denying the true Gospel of Jesus Christ (that He died, was buried and rose-up after three days from the dead).
John the Baptist's execution is recorded by the secular historian Josephus. There is plenty of historical evidence that a man named Jesus once lived and died. The $64,000 big question is: Whom do YOU say that Jesus is... LIAR, LUNATIC or LORD? There is a preponderance of irrefutable, overwhelming and convincing evidence that Jesus is exactly Who He professed to be, that is, God in the flesh, the Son of God, the sinless Lamb of God, the Christ. To those who believe, no explanation is necessary; to those who believe not, no explanation is possible! I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, Who came into the world. Do you believe? John 20:31, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
