Children need to have normal social interactions with other people, with other children. Social isolation of children is not ok.
After school program, childcare, recreational activities and extracurricular activities need to return to normality.

The “Freedom Convoy” was organized by Tamara Lich, secretary of the relatively new Maverick Party, a right-of-center group that was started to promote the separation of Canada’s three western Prairie Provinces from the rest of the country.

While Ms. Lich’s convoy campaign was separate from her work in the Maverick Party, Jay Hill, the party’s interim leader, said the convoy had tapped into what he believed to be widespread sentiment in Canada against pandemic restrictions.

The "freedom convoy" has attracted support from many US Republicans including former President Donald Trump, who said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau "destroyed Canada with insane Covid mandates".

"There's been nothing but love, unity and peace out here," said John Van Vleet, a trucker from Ontario. "It's important for me to come down here to fight for my freedoms."

We have also spread to other Canadian cities, including Toronto and Vancouver. Internationally, there have been rallies of support in New Zealand's capital Wellington and Canberra in Australia.

Police have opened more than 60 criminal investigations linked to the protests and 23 arrests have been made. Charges include mischief, flight from police and menacing. More than 1,300 tickets have been issued for violations ranging from excessive noise and use of fireworks to driving a motor vehicle on a sidewalk.

The protests in Canada have inspired similar events around the world from Australia and New Zealand to France. Online chatter is building for a trucker protest in Washington DC.
