You seem to forget to mentioned that they fixed the fact that many Johto were unavailable in the Pre-E4 Kanto by putting them in the Safari Zone.

And that they changed the movesets of most of the gym leaders to make them more of a challenge.

and they fixed the rematch system so it wasn't a handful of greasy balls

And actually added things to Kanto so it wasn't a barren wasteland.

Even though they should have done more, don't act like they didn't do anything to improve the remakes.

I'm not a Hoennbabbie. Hoenn isn't my favorite region. Gen 3 isn't my favorite gen. But sincerely, I want those remakes for real with my entire being. One of the main reasons is to watch the colossal shitstorm on /vp/, that would be glorious and I want to be alive for that day.

This. Hoenn, in my opinion wasn't bad, but it paled in comparison to the first two gens, and in the post game you couldn't even catch em all (which defeated the purpose of the game). On top of that, the only postgame was the battle tower. I would buy a remake/sequel, but I wouldn't mind if they were just retconned out of the series.

Probably because when R/S came out, the fans who enjoyed Gens I and II had already "grown up". They reached that stage where they began to see Pokemon as a baby game. This is because the DS is the first Nintendo handheld console with a respectable game library, so Pokemon is a smaller percentage since more other games are being sold.

You're also ignoring that RBY and GS were all playable on the GB, meaning no one had to upgrade to the newer GBC in order to play the games, thus increasing the sales even further. You'll notice that Crystal, the first game in the series which required a newer system, also took a huge hit on sales and Gen 2 sales are carried almost solely by Gold and Silver.

RSE were still the highest selling GBA games.

There were tons of great games for the GBA and a lesser extent GB(C), you're being willfully ignorant if you believe otherwise. The DS sold well because it was a huge social gaming machine; look at sales numbers, Brain Age sold more than both DP and BW. It was the iOS and tablet before they existed, and once those two became popular, handheld sales took a incredibly sharp downturn.

You're basically proving my point here that software sales hardware, claiming that RSE sold bad because the GBA did is beyond inept and proves that the person that said it doesn't have the faintest understand of how the game industry works.

Right and wrong here. The GBC went on sale a few months after Red/Blue were released, but like in Japan, the Pokemon series didn't instantaneously start selling the moment they released. The GBC released a month before Christmas and nine days before Black Friday of that year, so by the time Pokemon became popular, the Gameboy Color had already been released.
