the truly sad thing about these guys is that what they are doing is exactly the same as RNG Abuse

when they do finally get that shiny, at that particular time on that particular day, on that particular cart in that particular DS... it was always going to happen. if they changed their clock back and re-encountered it at exactly the same moment, it would be shiny again. and a simple, free program called RNG Reported could have told them what that date and time was going to be before they'd even had to have a single encounter.

soft resetting is RNG abuse for retards. and they don't even have the moral high ground here, because soft resetting itself is also an abuse of game mechanics to manipulate pokemon generation.

I would say you should keep a Pokemon's catch rate in mind as certain Poke-ball can just as easily catch the shiny as the Masterball.

Quick Ball - 100% of capture for any Pokemon with 200+ catch rate if conditions are met. (155+ in BW)
Dusk Ball/Dive Ball -100% of capture for any Pokemon with 225+ catch rate if conditions are met.
Repeat/Net - 100% of capture for any Pokemon with 255 catch rate if conditions are met.

These are all assuming the target is at full health.

You just have to remember that anything is possible. You can break into someones house, sue them, and win. Nintendo can get away with creating 4 fire/fighting starters in a row. Well, after watching the video, I can safely say I have seen worse *won't link to a french guy named phenix who hunt shinies with 7-8 DSes at the same time*.

But shiny hunting is not that bad. True, people could use RNG methods to have their shinies easier, or use Pokesav/Pokegen/other similar methods, but some people like what some of them call "the thrill of the hunt".

That is also the reason why people don't use their Master Ball as quickly as possible. They prepared their hunt. They wanted the capture to happen as "perfectly" as possible (whatever may their conception of "perfectly" is). And for some of them, they want to have a ball fitting the colors/type of the shiny, so it looks better when they play them (like some male players use the female PC because "As I have to stare at an ass for hours, I'd prefer it to be a female one").

Everyone plays their game as they want to. And while shiny hunting on multiple consoles is rather dumb (especially when you go to/over 3 DS), shiny hunting isn't a problem by itself.

Honestly, seeing videos like this make me want to stop playing Pokemon sometimes.

I've been playing Pokemon since Day 1 of Red and I've KO'd maybe 9 shiny Pokemon. To me I don't care and if I catch it, I catch it. If I knock it out oh well I most likely wasn't going to use it anyway.

I always giggle a little in Shiny threads, all because when i used to play Diamond, i met a Shiny Meditite at route 211, caught it, right after that i gave a few steps and suddenly Shiny Ponyta, yeah, two shinies in a row.

I found a shiny Ponyta on my second day of playing Diamond, I ran into a shiny female Nidoran while attempting chaining for the very first time (mind it wasn't a chain), found a shiny eevee that was probably hacked on GTS for a zubat or something. I've had pretty good luck. I only tried soft resetting once to get a shiny Charmander and it was nightmarish.

Because watchog is better. It can learn:
mean look
hypnosis
superfang
and it has the ability illuminate so you get into random encounters faster. besides unless smeargle is lv 100 its not going to do much damage on a mon that resists normal attacks and even if you managed to get it down to low life the shiny mon could have a recoil move...so superfang is the better alternative.

I actually prefer Smeargle. Spore, False Swipe, Swords Dance and Odor Sleuth mean I can hit whatever poke I want to hit, and the resistance/immunity to normal attacks is not a problem anymore.

The only "problem" comes from roamers, on which I usually use a Master Ball.

You can also Pokesav/Pokegen it. It's easier, transferable to any 4/5G game quickly, and can be tweaked for perfect IV and already distributed EV, which means it'll always be at the best of its strength.

Also, consider the following - The strongest poke you'll be able to fight may be a pain to fight, but if you hunt for pokes (them being shinies or not), the vast majority of them goes under the 40ies, which means that it'll goes like this in battle :

Watchog : Six turns to Super Fang, and at least two turns to Hypnosis (due to its lackluster precision) every three turns.

Smeargle : Spore, one to three Swords Dance (Usually, one is enough), False Swipe, usually another Spore (due to my luck with Pokemon awakening right when it's at 1 HP, I lost a shiny Ponyta xD)

I'm more angry over the fact these people put so much effort into ACTIVELY looking for shinies yet not be properly prepared for it when that elusive shiny does appear than their methods towards encountering said shiny. A simple catcher Pokemon or some Masterballs would drastically decrease their failure rate by leaps and bounds.

Even if you're purposefully hunting for one you can go WEEKS without seeing one. After a while you start losing hope. The videos you're seeing on youtube are cut down into 7-10minuts clips, but what you don't see are the hundreds of hours of footage where they find absolutely nothing.

I managed to catch a shiny Magnemite while looking for a Magby in the Virbank Complex on White 2 at the beginning of the game. And then around the point of the Electric gym, I caught a shiny Cottonee in Lostlorn Forest.

yeah i always use a dark pokemon first, trap it and fuck up its def and SpD and then send in a pokemon with a move that puts it to sleep. i don't even damage the little fuckers and i catch everything with ordinary pokeballs because i don't like the way it looks when you throw out another style of ball.

i had to catch kyurem with a masterball but i tried 3 times with 50 pokeballs.

i never really thought about catching pokemon any other way, been doing it since gen 1.

I feel like these people don't deserve the shiny after failing so hard.
