There is a higher install base making it easier to test the format.This is not being developed by GameFreak but tecmo which will give them more time to build the 3DS pokemon engine while keeping the money flowing in (all DS pokemon games are based off of diamond and pearl much like all Gen III games were based off of ruby/sapphire. Also, sure, it may be a marketing blunder to not make it a 3DS game, but they probably were working on this before the 3DS, or, they didn't want to risk making a 3DS game for a system that didn't sell well. It works both ways. Put a game on a non-selling system, and it bombs, you waste money.
