72 KB Too old for Pokemon? Anonymous 02/11/11(Fri)22:51 No.4477116
/vp/ I've been thinking lately with all the troll threads about adults playing kids games etc. I mean I'm 19, employed full time, single but only as of recent and I just enjoy my games as part of my spare time. Is that so wrong?

I mean my valentines this year I will be downloading my shiny entei for the dogs event on my 4 gen lV carts and EV training the best not really for any purpose. The week after that i'll be downloading suicune in the morning before I leave for a holiday with my mates. I just don't see the problem with playing pokemon as an adult. I am an adult although a young one, I've played since red and I plan to keep playing through my twenties.

To wrap this up: Is the issue people have with adults playing a kids game, or adults having very little life outside of games?

I don't think I'm too old for pokemon. In 10 years I still don't think i'll be too old.

There's nothin' wrong with it, dude. Just avoid the extremists, and you'll be fine.

'Sides, 'ya gotta keep up-to-date if 'ya wanna tell your kids about it.

This fucking thread man. This fucking thread is awesome.

    >Although I would say that still playing the games has caused some problems in my age. I'm also rocking 19 and became a pokefur as soon as I discovered broadband internet.
    Feels bad man.

It's a game, man. As long as you don't dress up as Lucario in your spare time and run around furcon, you're probably fine.
Do whatever the fuck you like to do and don't mind what they say.

Well I mean, I take my DS to work and play it on my lunch break from time to time, there are 40 year olds obsessed with DS and wii games, but when I tell them I'm playing pokemon I get that look. Then I think they're probably people who've seen glimpses of the cartoon and think to win at pokemon you need a team of pikachu.

I'm not ashamed that I play it I'm just interested to see if i'm in the same boat as others.

As to the furfag comments, pic very related.

Again It's not that I care that people have a problem with me playing pokemon, more as to why and if it's just that it's pokemon or is it just somethng about adults playing games in general?
    >> Anonymous 02/11/11(Fri)23:04 No.4477318
After you are old enough to be considered an adult, I don't think what your hobbies are defines how mature you are. Its how you do them. So if you spend eight hours a day playing vidya and are doing it when people invite you out and you have no other excuse to not go - you're probably acting like a child. But if you play a couple hours one night, and then play it again a few nights later - or if you're able to juggle a professional/social life with games, you're probably alright.

That reminds me. I once brought my DS to campus because my boyfriend was waaaay ahead of me, we're waiting outside my english class and this girl comes up and tries to make a big deal out of how childish it is to play pokemon. All of the other students just kinda stared at her. I think she's more immature than anyone who plays the games.

    >When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.

Seriously guys, shut the fuck up.

I'm 20, and I don't care if people think it's childish. I think it's more mature than doing drugs and alcohol, but that's just me.

this story reminds me of when i was chillin in class, and this one dude behind me was playing pokemon. a girl saw him and was saying how it's for kids and whatever. he didnt give a shit.

if i were in his position, i would do the same. hell, all i ever see that girl do is bitch. if someone thinks you're stupid for playing a game is a nosy douchebag who is more than likely into "stupid" things as well.

whats the point of being grown up if you cant be childish sometimes

Nice try, but it had nothing to do with her interests, it was her behavior XD
