Wish recons were a bigger help overall. They suck outside of the cluster fuck maps. I love playing agressive recon w/ m39 Irons/bipod/suppressor and covering my squad, but I could do more as assault/support/NG. I can go 24-6 but lose a MVP position by a few thousand points.

Does anybody else freeze when they're switching loading screens?

For some reason, my stats got reset back to before a game at some point earlier today. I lost several ribbons, gun attachments, and other bonuses I would have gotten from roughly 4 hours of gameplay. As if this weren't bad enough, I now cannot unlock any more attachments for the FAMAS. Whenever I use it ingame or try to apply it to a soldier in the menu, it says I don't have any of the attachments. I can still use them if I unlock them, but that means I have to unlock every attachment all over again in the span of one match, and even then it disappears once the round ends. I'm on Xbox.

I'd like to get the FAMAS bug fixed and get all my progress back. The battle feed says I have all the stuff I unlocked, but the game still says otherwise. Please help!

In fact, patches cost them money, since Microsoft at least charge a fee to put a patch out on their console. But mostly it's just a case of Dice not caring, yeah.

That's a load of balls though.

EA/DICE could patch on PC as much and as often as they wanted for absolutely no costs thanks to Origin. Shipping out patches to users directly without going through a third party (Steam) was even one of the main reasons for why it was created in the first place. At least officially.

That will never happen though because of the business around patching on consoles.
Sony and Microsoft need about 10 years to review a patch before it's allowed to be released and even than it may still contain major bugs. I also heard that Microsoft demands about $40,000 for every patch after the first one unless a paid DLC is released before said patch.

So PC-bros won't get any patches or hotfixes unless console-bros get a patch and console-bros will only get patches after long waits and in between each DLC.
That's why the first major patch in april ended up being so fucking huge and doing so many things at once.

As it happens PS3 will receive any and all content and patches about a week earlier than Xbox and PC. I think it was because EA botched the "Buy BF3 and get BF1943 for free" promotion. So the notion of "treating all platforms equally" went out of the window five minutes in.


Also Dice have always been known for releasing giant patches and taking forever inbetween to fix any known issues.

So it's a combination of bad developer, horrible publisher and shitty business process.

Just take a look at what happened to TF2 on consoles and TF2 on PC before the Mannconomy hit.

Suppression is OP. It takes too few shots to trigger, so if you're in the open and someone looks at you you're fucked. Can't shoot back, can't get to cover, just fucked. The point of suppression is that you can shoot at people who are hiding so your friends can flank them, and that involves spamming like hell, so they could safely double the amount of shots it takes and things would stay fine.

Yeah, I figured. Foregrips have always rubbed me wrong on LMGs but I find it hard to get a position where I can lay down cover fire effectively without getting flanked or sniped as soon as I set up shop. Pretty much why I stick to carbines.

With LMGs that are best set up on bipods (see the 240b, PKP and M60), you're gonna want to be a bit further away from the action. Your job is to lay down covering fire and not get into the thick of it, otherwise yes, you will get flanked and taken out pretty sharpish.

You've gotta be intelligent about where you set up, sometimes just picking the highest position to shoot from isn't the smartest idea, it just makes you a target to every sniper on the map.
You wanna dig yourself in, and hard, either prone out somewhere where you have decent visibility but your profile is small enough to not immediately stick out like a sore thumb when you start laying out on that trigger, or entrench yourself behind boxes, crates, cars etc if there's nowhere safer.

You also don't NEED the extra 100 rounds provided by e-mags on the belt feds. Sure, it's nice to have, but it's rare that you'll actually be in a situation where you're not locked, loaded and ready to go.
For this reason, the flash suppressor can be a bipod'd LMG's best friend because that fucking muzzle flash is the biggest thing that gives you away.

Basically, if you want to use LMGs, even the mag fed ones, don't use a foregrip. Seriously, foregrips increase your bullet spread, which is already fucking stupid on LMGs anyway and you don't need more of that shit. I'd rather put nothing in that slot than a foregrip.

But your starting weapons are great. M16 and M4 are very accurate with little kick and decent range. The Russian equivalents are the same with slightly higher accuracy and range but lower rate of fire. Any unlocked weapons are really just specializing yourself to some degree, as the starting rifles are extremely well rounded.
That said, I prefer my L85A2 for counter sniping.

Well shit, I wasn't thinking about vehicles. I was only referring to the guns, I wasn't clear about that though. I knew at launch it'd be impossible to grind for any air unlocks after a couple months, so I spent the first month or so getting good at the vehicles. Especially the jet, oh god. Seriously, giving the heatseekers even faster lock on last patch was the worst possible thing they could have done for the air vehicles, now no one even uses the cannon. They encouraged pilots to be absolutely worthless because if you don't have heat seekers, you get camped and shot down immediately.
