Attention 4chan extension/user script/archive developers: Some time in the next few days, we'll be rolling out a complete HTML rewrite of the imageboards.
The design will remain the same, but the underlying HTML/CSS is completely new, and validates HTML5/CSS3 (with some tweaks to account for cross-browser compatibility).

As a regular user, these changes should not affect you. You will need to update your 4chan browser extensions/user scripts when their maintainer updates them to be compatible with the changes.
The official 4chan Chrome extension will be ready to go when the updates happen, and 4chan X should be ready soon. We'll post more details on the day of the migration!

That is my current computer and I was going to be be replacing it piece by piece, or all at once if it's ultimately easier/cheaper

Let's say my budget is no more than $600, what should I build to maximize my grafics for as long as possible

I love talking to good support. I had an issue with my friend code for open beta and went into live chat. The guy was pretty cool about it and actually seemed to speak decent english.

Trick to all customer supports is to dangle the fact that you'll give them a high satisfaction rating over their head, be it at the beginning or end. The guy I talked to basically creamed his pants the second I mentioned it to him.

It's quite true actually. This game was never conceived to be PVP-heavy. And in the kTERA version you can only do open world PVP once you're level 60.

It's painfully obvious due to how unbalanced it is and how shitty the mechanics are. Still, I like the PVE in this game so far, so I couldn't care less about The Erotic Roleplay Arena.

I'm going to bed now but~

I've set up a guild on Celestial Hills. I'm a member of this thread and have in the past tried gathering people for ERP, prior to launch. But it's like herding very slutty cats.

Now that Tera is launched, my guild (Niflheim on Celestial Hills) is opening it's doors to dedicated ERPers. The guild is not for alts. Unless the person plans to become a dedicated member of the guild. And I would prefer not to fill the roster with hundreds of inactive people. So i've opened the doors to very "special" applications. You can find more information below. But this is purely for fun, and to make sure those who get in, want to be in.

The forward face of the guild is secretive, but benign. And i'm requiring guild members to not disclose what the guild is about, for RP reasons. Also to maintain player reputations at endgame, as we are not using this to store level 1s created on CH just to play. But for people who want to be here. Level, go to endgame but have a guild that is internally, a temple of carnel lust.

>The biggest gripe I have about Tera combat is that there is a skill queue. You press a skill you have to wait for the animation to play out before the next skill execute. For example, my warrior was attacking, I used the dodge button then follow up by the combo skills by pressing space bar. I have to wait for my warrior to finish landing press the space bar and it takes a bit before it starts executing the combo move I wanted. :\

Every time i look at these threads, i am always baffled by these people who call themselves "old schoolers", preaching on how PvP is rewarding in and off itself.

WHATS SO REWARDING ABOUT GANKING!!!

Thats all TERA PVP amounts to, dueling and ganking, there is absolutely nothing else.
GvG=giant gank feast. The outlaw system is a total joke, no real PvPer would ever consider this pvp.So the only valid option i have to get some real pvp is to duel someone, the most archaic PvP system in existence. GG TERA.

Ganking and PVP are two different things. When i think of PVP i think of an organized battle in which two or more teams of elite pvpers fight each other on fair grounds. NOT running around terrorizing noobs who are just trying to gather some plants for their crafting.

The PvP system in place is pathetic. GvG system does nothing at all to reward the winning team. Which in and of itself is pointless seeing that is nigh impossible to win a GvG battle wince you have to acquire so many points to win instead of it being about competitive points.

I've been solo'ing through pretty much the full way, with the exception of doing dungeon storylines, I had a fucking hell of a time going 49-50(took something like 8 hours or something stupid), and 51-52 and 52-53 I was more or less forced into doing a few BAM quests and to do instance storylines.
53-54 was cake, though. Slightly worried about how 55-56 is going to end up(54-55 looks like it should be fine).

It's frightening that you guys dont know the basics of asskissing. He's a customer and you want to keep him, so you have to remain polite yet firm.
Saying "this is your final warning" sounds too negative and would make me feel unwelcome and unvalued. Everything about that sentence is wrong. I was doing this story quest (the one where they summon some giant Fimbrilisk on you, half way through the fight Thulsa and the trap banish it)

Then after that scene, there was no NPC to talk to, and I tried going to Kaiator to find that NPC, but no one there.

I tried resetting the instance and doing it again, but I couldn't even progress to the part with the Fimbrilisk anymore.

Doing every quest I have access to that isn't BAM-related, I'd end up with around 20~% off from levelling at 49/50/51. Actually, no, I was about 10% off at 51 but I also did a few BAM quests.
50/51 I was fine since I had dungeons to finish off(GL and AH respectively) which finished those levels off, 49 I had to solo random level 46 BAM's for my last 4m xp after running around making sure I did everything else I possibly could.

I'm not the original guy bitching about it, I've just noticed that some quest spacing is really random and they force partying hard at specific levels.

I was soloing as a lancer, and I skipped quests that weren't good for exp time-wise.

If I was in a group of two or three, it definitely would have gone faster. What I did was gather mobs of quests monsters instead of killing them one by one. Iron will and second wind really helps.

For other classes, I have no clue.

I usually don't mind playing 'underdog' shit classes in an MMO, but this just feels like an effort in futility.

Worst mobility, stupid-as-fuck block mechanic, 'charge' attacks that do absolute garbage against bigger boss monsters that actually move around.

Usually 3-4 mobs, glyphed shield bash for duration and cooldown, glyphed block for reduced MP and stronger counterattack, glyphed spring attack for +25% power.

I mainly use those skills, no particular order. Depends on the situation really, because sometimes the mobs spread out if I'm careless.

It doesn't help that at 53 you're sent into a zone with level 55 mobs that soon run out and you're sent after 56 and 57 mobs.

TERA in general at around 50 has a major difficulty jump. Starting with Golden Laboratory the instances start to get pretty difficult - nothing like how easy CR and such were. By Ascent of Saravash you can really tell who the good players are.

Fuck I hate it when I want to help out a friend whose 6 levels lower than me and we cannot group for a BAM-quest because I'm considered too high a level. Which basically means that he doesn't get the kills, just because I'm in the group.

Now what really grinds my gears is that I left the group, he pulled the BAM, brought it down to 75% on his own, I joined in again (but ungrouped) and still didn't get the kill.

How does this system work? And can't this be griefed to hell and back by just attacking the BAMs that low-level groups are fighting, doing the most damage and preventing them from getting their kill?

It just all seems rather odd to me.

I already got a couple characters to the 30 mark, decided to try out a lancer. I was tired of doing the same starting content over again for the third time so I took a break to ride over to Castanica, just to take in the sights and mine some normetal. I can't fight anything here but boy is it a nice change of scenery.

This might be the first MMO where dps has the hardest role.

Tanks just spam block and occasionally reposition.
Healers just spam lock-on heals and occasionally drop aoe heals.

DPS have to reposition themselves often, avoid one shots, time their big-hitters for when the boss is staying still enough, alst while trying to maintain a proper rotation,

And there's the problem. A bad lancer can AT LEAST hold aggro and keep the boss/mobs collected. With good heals/dps it really doesn't matter whether you have a good lancer or not. But when you have a bad warrior tank, especially late game, its blatantly obvious. Whatever task you're trying to complete is impossible; he is cannot be carried. Personally I don't mind an engaging tank role, but 90% of the MMO community sees the only dual wielding class, thinks insane burst DPS, and learn rather late that they're supposed to tank.

Also, my 2 cents, warriors should have some sort of parry or block. The rolling is simply too much movement. My abilities do noticeably more damage when attacking from behind, and it pisses me off immensely when the warrior is flipping all over the place, turning the mobs/boss.

You have to realize this is an Asian MMO and they are pretty fucking fond of one-shots in PvP as a whole. Wizards in Perfect World were one of the worst offenders, there were a few really well-geared ones on my server that singlehandedly won Territory Wars by one-shotting 10 people with a single aoe.

No, the problem with PvP is the outlaw system and the sheer amount of channels/safe zones when it comes to GvG.

I am playing as a High Elf Sorcerer. My attacks do NO damage to him. He wipes out the soldiers, then he kills me with one or two hits and he's instantly back at 100% health. And if I get him to 50% health, he summons a horde of minions and then I'm screwed.

When obt started I stacked repeatables so I could get to 38 faster and stack more repeatables at 38, at 38 I turned them in and went crazy for headstart.

At some point I slowed down and began to realize how much of a faggot I was for caring about a PvE title with a retarded name. The two guys I was competing with passed me up while I stopped to participate in our GvG's and just generally enjoyed the game.

I don't regret it at all. The guy who did get it talked shit about beating me to it and I pretty much said "I don't care it's a title and a fucking PvE one at that".

He challenged me to duels and I stomped him like 4 times in a row, afterwards he blocked me.

It's fun to play and feels nice but it gets boring very fast. Like every mmo the gameplay comes down to the same thing repeated for hours and while the areas are nice, once you get over the excitement of gimmicks (like different targetting) it gets stale

PvP is also terrible and the ui/targetting system isn't very good for ranged (and is awful for healing)

I would play it right now if I still had the free period but I just can't justify the price of it

I think you can get trials from someone who plays it, not sure

47 priest here, the actual healing class (yeah yeah sure you got orbs and a lock on heal. I've got a god damned swiss army knife of awesome heals, no interact key needed. Wide area small HoT, a smaller radius 10 off big HoT, short range burst heal, lock-on burst heal, 15min light HoT, Damage negation with a shield...) I do a great job at keeping anything from dying no matter how bad shit ends up going. I've kept a the shittiest warrior tank alive through a accidental double BAM pull while some asshole of an outlaw Sorc was trying to gank his blissfully unaware ass until the Sorc gave up and ran off five minutes later.

The fun comes in when you need to dodge monsters and their moves while keeping everyone up, picking the right time to hit certain cool downs (Arise, Shield, Star etc) and catching those dodging mother fuckers with your Circle of Healing and get out before your shit gets raped.

The old MMO healer playstyle can fuck off and die. I like actually being involved in the fight rather than being a sideline cheerleader.

Solo questing in this game is basically a grind past 40. Mobs have too much hp and the game is fond of forcing you into indoor areas where you can't do shit without aggroing something else if you're a class that has to kite to kill shit like Sorc or Mystic.

Fairy Tail likes declaring on Tofu though, it seems they're more interested in using GVG to gank lowbies without getting any infamy (had them come after me on IoD after I 1v2'd two of their members at the same level. Alright fine.

Racial imbalances, hitboxes, etc, picking a race and gender has way too much of an impact on power and mechanics of certain classes.

Class issues, I'm not going to go through each class, but Zerkers, Archers, both are suffering pretty badly with little to no relief in sight. Could probably write an essay on how each class needs to be changed in PVE and PVP.

PVP issues: The entire combat system seems based around 1 shots, and not even hard to set up ones. Luck and lag have too much of a factor on determining results. Additionally, guild wars encourage zergests, especially taking high levels to 1 shot lowbies for points. Especially bad is the safezone garbage.

Channels need to be reduced, as right now its way to easy to dodge people with 8 channels, and 7 of them almost empty.

Too much copy and pasting in mobs, apparently it gets better endgame, but this is still a problem for leveling.

And some classes just have an inherently bad playstyle design. Mystics, Lancers, Priests, some people enjoy them, but they could easily be made a far more active and enjoyable class while still retaining similar difficulty.

But instances and BAMs weren't designed with soloing in mind. In fact, the ideal leveling right now involves going around in a 5 man questing together. Kill xp is a joke for anything but solo BAMs, everything is in clearing quests. Since quest credit for kills, items, etc, is all shared, going through them faster is the best xp. Not to mention the fact that there are far more quests than you need at each level grouping, so you'll end up with a backlog of lowbie quests if you try soloing.

Its the start of the game, tons of groups of formed, all guilds are recruiting active members, its the best time to participate in the MM aspect of an MMORPG.

My biggest regret was getting the physical CE over the digital. The forums lead me to believe that the handbook was going to be some sort of small art book, which is what made me buy it in the first place. It's really just a 20+ page booklet with bits of lore. Not every attack is dodgable, cooldown on dodges, block, lag.

If you put CC in a game, it should be balanced around being consistent, but not completely gamebreaking (i.e. the moment a Sorc gets off his instant cast aoe sleep, you die, unless you randomly resisted. No exceptions if he has his kit ready) over CC that is very random, yet instantly wins no matter the situation when it finally works. In fact, this should be how all combat is designed really, placing too much emphasis on luck over skill is just bad design.
