As you progress in this open-world survival, your character drops weight, gets faster and stronger.

The game starts when a small group of /v/irgins win a small amount of money in the lottery, and go out and buy a house. You buy games, decorations, servants, and other stuff to fill the house, but each /v/irgin has different tastes in vidya and you'll have to try to balance them out to keep everyone happy so they don't leave. Over time, as your house gains notoriety, more /v/irgins will come, and you can afford bigger things like rennovating and expanding the house.

I had a fun idea for a game back then, and assets too. Thing was about a small worm-parasite guy who moved in 2d and could inhabit bodies of enemies he defeats. You start out small and end up controlling big stuff like orangutans, elephants, dinosaurs and shit. It's a >plataformer but still, no retro bullshit, only minimalistic design.

I was planning this with a friend, we had a design doc, concept art and all kinds of stuff.

Old school Zelda-like RPG. There are different races and gender and the story of the game depends on which race/gender you pick. Everyone is at war and the generals are all based on historical figures (Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin, etc.). You can either fight for against the side you start out on and there are multiple endings, some of which can only be achieved with certain race/gender combinations.

Your number one priority should be producing something playable as SOON as possible. Iteration should be rapid. Changes should be easy to make and gratifying to see.

Aim low. Do NOT decide to write a "custom engine." Use something already existing. Either mod an existing game, or use something like Unity or Game Maker.

It's okay to sacrifice some quality if it means you actually finish the fucking thing.

Also, you won't finish the fucking thing. But if you aim low and focus on rapid prototyping and getting playable builds out then whatever you're left with when the project inevitably dies will be way, way fucking better than the handful of "design documents" and "concept art pieces" you'd have from a loftier project.

First thing we need to to is decide on what we're going to be making. Have a motherfucking plan. Get a basic idea of what we're going to make and how we're going to make it.
After that, we need a working barebones game. Basically just the eingine. Like, if we're making a platformer, we need an empty room where you can run and jump and shoot. If we're making an RPG, we need a town you can walk around and interact with shit. You get the idea. Bare bones. Not a game so much as a working experiment.
THEN, we build off of that working experiment and start incorporating story, art, etc. If we want to make a game, we start with the game, not the story or art.

This is sort of correct, except that since there are multiple contributors it's very possible to have people working on the story/art WHILE other people are working on coding the game itself.

Assets are another factor to consider. 3D is going to drastically limit the number of people who can meaningfully contribute to the art assets. Certain genres also tend to have higher asset demands than others - an RPG for instance can be boiled down to a bunch of 2D stills if you go with an RPG Maker style combat system.
