The spacing is a bit more lenient in this than in Wild World, it seems because the way I arranged was 2 spaces between trees in a row, an empty row directly below, then two spaces between but shifted one space over. Sometimes that wouldn't even work and I'd get dead trees, but my cherry orchard is doing perfectly with that.
