Halo 1 suffers because it has about 2-300 on at any time, and H2V is even worse off. Not such a great business case.

Although I can understand why somebody would place Halo 1 as their favourite in the franchise, I can't agree with the sentiment that it "controlled the tightest".
Halo 2,3 etc onwards felt a lot smoother to me than CE. From just getting into vehicles, picking up weapons, even just movement. They tightened it up a good bit.

3 is a lot of fun. I used my younger brother's xbox to play it with some friends when I was in high school and I can honestly say it was one of the most fun online games I'd ever played.
I always wished it was for pc.

There is just a shitload to do.

I think the best thing we did was making a huge empty map with the map editor. Then we made a custom gamemode where all players moved at 300% speed, had low gravity on, and infinite grenades. It was so fucking fun.

Also the replay editor was fantastic.

And now for the bad news.

For those of you who kept your CD keys, they will most likely not give you a Steam copy. However you should keep holding onto them. I won't say much about this.

To be honest, when I first got the game I was stoked to be able to play it at all. I spent my savings and bought Vista and H2 together, what a joke that was.

In the end, Vista was terrible so I reverted and got the XP hack and did the elaborate steps you had to take to get the hacked version to get past the Gravemind level. You had to run some Process Monitor application which was quite CPU intensive and randomly somehow Halo 2 would proceed where it never would before. Shit was crazy, but they were fun times.

And, in all fairness, the H2 Campaign was a blast. I missed overt health, but it was still good times.

The two aren't incompatible. You can have GFWL games on Steam.
