but drexel is SHIT, the quarter system sucks, i'm about 100k in debt from loans (one of the most expensive private uni's in US). I wish i went to temple or even fucking Rowan instead.

And like i said, the LAN is open to public, so people from other uni's or even no-uni fags can attend. search 'DragonLAN' on facebook and join the group so you know when the next one is happening.

I used to be staff for a monthly LAN party that regularly got 60 people. Not really any consoles (At most someone on staff would bring a console or two for fighting games and people would occasionally get off PCs and button mash) and CoD wasn't out/huge yet. CS was the main flavor.

Anyway, the videogaming doesn't attract girls. It's just guys who already had girlfriends would drag them to LAN parties (Or the girls foolishly decided to tag along to be with their boyfriends) and then they'd sit in a pitch black room that was oppressively hot (60 bodies, 60 computers, probably 40+ CRT monitors) and reeked of sweat, armpits, and balls and look bored and miserable.

Unless things have dramatically changed, I'm just betting the CoDbros are more normal and attract women in the first place and then take them to a LAN 'cause they want them to suffer.

It does stink to high heaven, but honestly LANs are (Or were) a hell of a lot of fun and totally worth all the work. Getting a ton of people all in one room playing the same great is a blast, especially when it's weird shit.

I'll never again enjoy glorious Red Faction deathmatches or giant swashbuckling games of Air Buccaneers with a pre-patched and modded copy of UT2K4 ready to go and shared on the LAN for everyone to grab for a power hour.

Figured I'd expand on this a little. I say were because we eventually stopped doing the LANs once broadband became more prevalent and popular. Fewer people started attending, started getting to the point where we'd get 20-30 people tops, and the people who did show up would often just sit at their PC and play WoW instead of gaming with people at the LAN. Got really fucking pathetic and the whole thing fell apart.
