The island that the castle is on is separate from the Forbidden Land in SotC. On the castle island, there are multiple tribes and groups and religious figures. Judging that Ico's home-tribe sacrificed kids there, we can assume it was built over many generations by the tribes and the shadow creatures made by the dark queen. And Dormin? Not fully. He just wanted to be worshipped again.

Dormin probably wasn't evil. He did try to dissuade Wander from going through with the ritual and he did keep his word.

That's what I like about it. Mono is clearly very important to Wander but almost insignificant to the player keeping them distanced so you can judge Wanders actions with a more neutral bias.

Theories as to what the story of The Last Guardian will Involve?

Personally i think you'll be able to visit places via the flying beast like the forbidden lands and the castle where Ico took place or it's ruins depending on the time line and other various locations that will build upon the lore of the world.

It's good. Have fun. I felt the backstory was better than the scenes from the video game parts but that's because a book can't really recapture those gaming moments but that's just my opinion.

Oh please, Nausicaa is plenty flawed as a person. She decides that she'd rather let mankind slowly go extinct rather than wait and allow men to eventually be replaced by genetically perfected men of peace. Not to mention her rage issues, lying to what is essentially a baby in order to trick it into killing itself and her suicidal tendencies. She was a well rounded character.
