So I guess when Potter was constantly snatching others' wands he was actually summoning invisible demons through a blood pact?

Could the Istari die of natural causes? I understand they were demigods (in a way) but were their lifespans indefinite or were they just incredibly long-lived like the elves?

Also, when Saruman was killed, didn't it say his spirit/soul was forced to wander Middle Earth for eternity in an incredibly weak state? Does that mean that Istari actually cannot die at all then?

A mage is someone who can cast magic without wands/staffs/alchemy/chants. They just have magical hands that can shoot fire and a shit.

A wizard learns magic through knowledge, hence why you had to go to school to become a wizard in harry potter.

To me a mage seems more like a mercenary that would get hired by a group of adventurers to provide magical abilities.

Actually, this is a wizard.

I liked the DnD definitions.

Mage/Wizard: Pure arcane knowledge, studies magic for years reading books and practicing his art.

Sorcerer: Natural talent with Innate spellcasting ability, no studying required. Usually due to demonic or draconic heritage. Casts spells simply by willing it.

Warlock: Similar to sorcerer, innate casting ability due to demonic connections. A bit less of a pure caster, more like a wielder of sheer demonic power, which also increases his physical abilities a bit.

if we go by WoW logic, warlocks are like mages, only most of the shit they conjure require physical items. There's more ritualistic shit going on, so there's bound to be demonic themes as well.

Not sure about mages and wizards though. In Ragnarok Online, wizards were the advanced class of mages (and recently sorcerer being the 'ultimate' advancement), so i'm assuming they're better in some way.

There are 4 "core" classes that can branch off into hybrids.

You have the Knight, which has alot of health and can dish out alot of damage in melee combat. It's a tank.

You have the Ranger, basically kiting the enemy with arrows from a long distance.

You have the Thief, the sneaky and fragile bastard which uses stealth and tactics to overcome enemies.

You have the Wizard, a very weak old man with low hitpoints, but which has elemental magical powers.

The Knight can branch off into different hybrids, for example into a "Paladin". You get some magical powers in exchange for slightly less HP.

The Ranger can upgrade into an extremely accurate sharpshooter or an archer that can shoot arrows in rapid succession.

The Wizard can for example branch off into a healing class (Cleric) or specialize in a specific element
(Fire, Ice, Thunder).

Would a necromancer be a wizard or warlock or sorcerer, depending on his backstory, who has devoted all his magical magicness to one specific field, in this case being the dead.
And you would have a pyromancer and whatever other mancer focused on their other specific fields that they particularly enjoy?
