I don't have a permanent disability, but I do have my jaw wired shut for about 5 more months. I had a wisdom tooth become impacted and caused a jaw infection which resulted in lower bone density and subsequent surgery to replace part of my jaw with a titanium plate.

So for the past month and the next five I haven't been able to speak in online games, I guess. I mean, I guess I could speak, but I'd just sound like a retard and/or European so I keep my mouth shut.

I have no arms.
I'm typing this using voice commands.
Can't play video games but I still enjoy this board.

I have no legs. It's pretty tough because I'm a girl and no one wants me, but I try to stay fit. Got some prostheses

I'm stupid. Like, actually retarded. Makes strategy games hard.

Motion sickness. Used to never have any, it got slightly worse over the last twenty years, and the advancement in graphics hasn't helped matters. I used to play Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake, and so on religiously, but now I have to strain myself severely, and I'm so disoriented that I can barely make out what's in front of me.

Games with a very high resolution, lots of small text and hud elements, generally a lot of stimulation and tiny details, it's hard to focus and make out anything on screen. A lot of my motion sickness is getting worse, such that it effects my daily life.

Ginger root tablets, seabands, inhaling cold air or breathing through cloth, covering one eye, applying pressure to parts of my head (like wearing a hat) all help to a limited degree in that they make it possible for me to continue playing games, but I'm getting worse.

The problem became severe enough that it started to impede in my gaming about two years ago while I was about halfway through Anachronox. The doctor I saw a few months ago was worthless. My monthly gaming time has been drastically reduced, usually about five hours a month. I have never had any other real hobbies. I read, but my ability to focus and retain information has diminished, and I also suffer considerable dizziness while reading.

These days, I spend most of my free time either sleeping or exercising. The same time last year, I was about 180 lbs with a potbelly, but because I've had nothing better to do than exercise, I'm now over 200 lbs due to increased muscle mass. I was weak as a kitten, opening a soda bottle was difficult, but now I'm stronger than I've ever been and I can do things I never thought I would be able to. I feel better about myself. I hoped that finally getting myself into shape would have solved the problem, but no such luck.

I'm planning on blowing my brains out early next year. I've been excessively frugal and have saved away $20,000 for my family.

i have macular degenration and am legally/centrally blind, and will slowly completely lose my vision.

It affects my gaming in the sense that I have to sit really close to the TV/monitor while i play, and even then I can barely see shit.

Sleep is my favorite thing in the world. Its warm and comfortable and my dreams are always amazing. The only downside is I have never been able to get to sleep easily in my life. On average I lay in bed for 4 hours before I can finally doze off. This last week I have literally not been able to get to sleep before 10AM.

The worst is when I am so tired I can barely keep my eyes open and then I get in bed and am fully awake in 10 minutes. Almost like sleep is taunting me.

Shitty vision in one eye prevents stuff like 3D from working at all, even with glasses on. So far, only thing that it's done to disrupt my gaming is prevent me from getting a 3DS, as I just can justify the cost at the moment after weighing the personal pros and cons. I know the 3D is either under utilized, or poorly utilized, but at the moment I'm more than content with my DS Lite. Better battery life and backwards compatibility with GBA games are great.

My hearing is decreasing with time, something about the cells in the auditive nerve degrading too fast. Anyway, I got aid for the first time when I was 5, but they were really shitty back then and everything was so loud so I couldn't stand them. I asked for some new ones when I was 10, my hearing had decreased a lot and it had become hard to hear people talk. Then I got digital aids, and this was really a revolution, the sound was so much better. My newer aids no longer have a tube, just a wire with the mic inside the ear, this improved the sound quality a lot too.

Anyway, point is, I don't know what aids you had, but a lot of progress has been made in recent years. Maybe something more recent might work better?

I'm pretty hard of hearing and require captions.

I can still hear, but i rely on reading lips to properly understand what a person is saying. And since most video games are shit for rendering lip movement, i either have to play the game with captions or play games with outstanding graphics.
