Basically, just get good at firing 1-3 shots at people's heads in a split second. If you can't get the hang of it after about a month of playing pubs daily it's probably not for you. Skill is only part of it.

It's a game about quick reactions and precision, that's something you either have or you don't. Some people just aren't wired for CS and will never get good. This might be you OP.

There are people who have been playing CS since the original mod daily and still aren't very good. It's what the fighting game community calls a scrub. It's not a terrible thing to be it just means you won't be good at CS no matter how hard you try.

Learn to preaim, you should be aiming where the enemy will be

Learn every map so that you know exactly how fast each team can get to what intersections

Practice getting quick kills; you should be shooting in 2 - 5 (5 being an absolute maximum) bullet bursts, which should be killing your enemy if your preaim and reaction time are good. But spraying is good if you fuck it up (learn spray patterns, you need to be aiming low and controlling the recoil so that you have a high % of bullets hitting your target), you'll see it used even in progames

Figure out a middle-tier weapon that really clicks with you, or ones that specifically enable you to use unique strategies on certain maps.

Buy the p250 in the pistol round. Just fucken do it. And a flash.

Don't rush around corners unless you know they CAN'T be there. This ties into learning great map awareness, hopefully you have a communicating team and you can piece together what the enemy team is doing based off activity from your team

Listen for footsteps

Flash round corners if you must push up but try to go with at least 2 people. Don't assume a flash bang means the enemy outside is going to be blind

Smoke up long sniper alleys so they can't hit anything.

Don't have more than 1 AWP on your team if possible. Don't be the AWP guy if you can't reliably kill people as soon as they're visible.

You can, but there is a limit to these things. Some people are just slower than others and will struggle with it and fine no joy in the game.

Training only goes so far. I've had plenty of friends who hit that wall so to speak and could just never get past it. It didn't matter how rigorous their training was there are certain limits people have and it changes from person to person.

I feel like the game is too inconsistent with its own mechanics. People talk about mastering the recoil, but so often you're moving, be it running or walking. When you inevitably make contact, I'd either try a flick shot or simply stand still for a second to get the instant head shot.

Whether or not that flick shot will register as a headshots feels ultimately up to chance. Sometimes I get headshots, sometimes I miss entirely. It's the same with when I stand still. Sometimes its an instant kill, other times I'll have to continue spraying down. Ultimately I enjoy the way the weapons feel and sound, but I've mostly grown completely out of all the modes, now preferring deathmatch.

I can never decide myself what I like better. COD 4 feels arcadyy, CS feels tight and Bad Company 2 and feels like a good mix between the two.

First off, unbind crouch. You dont need it and anyone who argues this is probably a gold nova shitter.

Second, google spray patterns of guns and remember at least 2-3 you use regularly such ask AK, M4 and p250.

Next, before you have a match in competive play a casual or a map with bots to warm up, get used to the game etc.

When you're running, NEVER aim at the floor, always keep your crosshair at head height. Also, google how to change your crosshair so it is a lot smaller than the standard size, for example mine is a dot a couple of pixels wide.

Now just pratice, practice, practice. Keep your volume turned up and listen to people running etc. Also use walk near corners that people may be around etc so they cant hear you.

Unbinding crouch is the best way for new players to learn how to move and fire rather than just standing still and spraying, effectively learning them the most fundamental move in the game, the stutterstep.

Once you get that sorted then put crouch back in and then use it when its needed. And really the only time crouch helps is behind cover, the accuracy bonus of it is redundant considering that the first shot while standing is always accurate and then depending on the weapon, the next 1-4 shots are basically spot on but higher and a slight deviant to the right.

And OP, if you dont believe me watch any pro streamers and look at how often they crouch. Hell give me your steam ID and I'll add you when i get home and you can spectate me. Global Elite here and i can gurantee you my info is better than half the shit other people are going to give you.
