I have played them for some time and they can get pretty intensive, the skill does matter a lot. So does good teamwork, what's casual about that?

That said, I also play many RTSs and FPSs semi competitively and they don't seem all that far from MOBA games when it comes to competitive games.

I've come to think it's just butthurt people that they couldn't win their first match because they had no idea how to play or just people who haven't played it at all.

Get a good team, work as a team.

Gank the overpowered clickz as a team.
Just like in an FPS giving the enemy a significant advantage because your team sucks is legit, so it an enemy hero being fed and growing strong. It would be counter productive to not grow strong if you do well and others do not.

Can someone tell me a reason why people play any MOBA alone? I mean, they're heavily team-based and the concept of playing with 4 random people in such a game is just frightening. I don't care if I lose the round in an FPS, I can still have fun and wreck faces. But a bad teammate in LoL, Dota or whatever can ruin the entire round because enemies go into god-mode and shit all over you.

I even heard that there's a RANKED game mode for solo players in LoL. Does it track Kills/Deaths only like in FPS to calculate your rating? Even then, the inevitable mental refuse you get matched with (MOBA communities, remember) will just drag you down.

They're different genres that require real time strategy. Actually, most games require strategies in real time. Maybe we should come up with different names for the different genres.

I wouldn't compare knights and merchants to starcraft for example. They are both strategy games with basebuilding but other than that they are nothing alike.

MOBA standards were never high, after all, it started as a simple custom map in a RTS game, and ever since MOBAs have become popular, RTS as a whole has been dumbed down or completely neglected and ignored, save for StarCraft II.

LoL's ranked system only cares for winning or losing the match. That means, if even one guy in your team is bad, intentionally ruining the game or AFK, you're screwed. Then again, same applies to the enemies.
So they kinda think it will even out when you play enough games, your skill being a constant and thus bringing you to the rating you deserve in time.

Almost everyone I know plays MOBAS especially LoL.

All they talk about now is the fucking game. Apparently they never play or do anything else, all they live for is LoL. They rush home after work to play it.
