That's right folks, it isn't a joke. THQ will cease to exist as a company within a week.

Al of their franchises have been auctioned off to different developers:

>Sega bought Relic, developers of Company of Heroes 2 and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War

>Koch Media (who owns the Dead Island franchise publishers) purchased Volition (the Saint's Row devs), and publishing rights to the Metro games

>Crytek (who is actually developing Homefront 2) purchased rights to the Homefront franchise

>Take-Two bought Turtle Rock Studios' project Evolve

And, the one many of you are probably concerned about:

>Ubisoft purchased the rights to publish South Park: The Stick of Truth, and purchased THQ Montreal, developers of the project codenamed 1666.

That's it, ladies and gentlemen. This is the end of THQ.

But that's not true, Vigil hasn't been sold, the publishing arm hasn't been sold. Numerous IPs haven't been sold apparently, but I haven't seen any lists.

GN, citing unidentified sources, says 2K Sports parent Take-Two Interactive will acquire the WWE license from THQ.

[Update] A source with knowledge of the situation tells Kotaku that Take-Two will acquire the WWE license.

Earlier rumors had said EA Sports acquired the license directly from WWE before the auction of THQ's assets. EA Sports denies this. An EA Sports spokesman told Kotaku the label has no plans to get into WWE-licensed games.
