I spent the day sorting through and re-reading a few thousand e-mails from 2010, and it was really a blast from the past. What a year it was.
Thanks for an awesome 9 years, and for some great e-mails along the way.

As always, I read all of my e-mail and can be reached with questions/comments/concerns/hate mail/and plain ol' hellos at moot@4chan.org (or on AIM at MOOTCHAT).
tl;dr version of 2010: "SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, and VIRUSES: The Movie"

I'm making a new thread because this will be ignored if it's not in the OP.

These are the Press releases:

Press releases
Specs
http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/pdf/130221a_e.pdf
Controller + Eye
http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/pdf/130221b_e.pdf
Devs + games shown
http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/pdf/130221c_e.pdf

Controller + eye (japanese, has pictures)
http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/pdf/130221b.pdf

I just skimmed through them, but there are a few things that I noticed

>Only confirmed LAUNCH game is Watch_dogs. Probably a timed exclusive.
>Rumors about the specs were right (on vgleaks)
>People doubting that the PS4 wouldn't use physical media were wrong (uses BD)
>RAM is unified AND it's GDDR5.
More on GDDR5 by another anon in another thread

More on the specs by another anon

Also, the first english release has a list of devs/publishers that I'll post (image) here. They are 149 in total.

Reminder that these are THIRD-PARTY, so obviously studios like Santa Monica aren't in.

I'm making this thread because it's good to have info directly from Sony and it's really easy to quote text info.

GDDR5, and yeah.

Read the cross-thread posts in the OP.

The rumors (same ones that revealed the specs) say that yes, it will ship with the console.
>>
>>177387305

Can't. I'm on my phone using the app.

How's it compare to my 12 gig ram?
>>
>>177387432

Add in another 100 dollars.
>>
No games and Kinect 2.
Great.

I'll just repost the quote

The only reason why you don't have GDDR5 dimms on the market for your desktop is that its a higher latency memory. DDR3 dimms are much lower latency, because processors generally don't handle any workloads where super high bandwidth is needed, thus lower latency is more important.
There is absolutely nothing about GDDR5 that would prevent it from being used as CPU cache, you simply have to design your pointers around it.
It isn't some exotic concept. Three speeches at the last AFDS were about this topic specifically.

http://hsafoundation.com/what-is-heterogeneous-system-architecture-hsa/

The HSA team at AMD analyzed the performance of Haar Face Detect, a commonly used multi-stage video analysis algorithm used to identify faces in a video stream. The team compared a CPU/GPU implementation in OpenCL™ against an HSA implementation. The HSA version seamlessly shares data between CPU and GPU, without memory copies or cache flushes because it assigns each part of the workload to the most appropriate processor with minimal dispatch overhead. The net result was a 2.3x relative performance gain at a 2.4x reduced power level*. This level of performance is not possible using only multicore CPU, only GPU, or even combined CPU and GPU with today’s driver model. Just as important, it is done using simple extensions to C++, not a totally different programming model.

I don't know how fast neither the PS4 or your ram are, so how would i know.

Kojima's game. Naughty dog, ff15, and others. Wat.
>>
>>177387432
not only will it come with the PS 3Y3D (hurr), it will also include a mono headphone jack for voice communication it seems.

/v/ Let's plays might end up being interesting this time.

The gameplay recording feature, at the very least, will eliminate camcorder LPs.
>>
bumping because there are a significant amount of posts talking shit like "hurr durr it's all digital"

>Evolution Studios (Motorstorm) could be working in a new IP with former Bizarre workers and Ged Talbot, lead designer of Blur and some of Project Gotham Racing games. If rumors are right, we should expect a game like PGR. Maybe with the same core or inspired by the quoted game.
>Driveclub (WWS Evolution Studios) (from the press release)

>Guerrilla Games should be working in a new IP too. February 20 is going to be a marvelous day. Take the day off, you deserve it.
> Killzone: Shadow Fall (WWS Guerrilla Games) (from the press release)

welp
