Only good thing about it is the multiplayer, single player is lazy shit with the arcadey extra options missions

Singleplayer is boring sometimes, real game begins in co-op on insane and it's fucking great.
Graphix are fucking awesome, the best that shitty UE3 has to offer, a lot better than GeoW 1,2,3.
Overrun and survival modes are nice, way better than horde modes from geow 2 and 3.

Epic is a terrible developer.

Finished the game yesterday. Didn't like the switching of grenades and weapon swap. Also now that you can use the boomshield with any weapon seems like it would be a pain in the ass online. Plot was pretty 'meh' but that's to be expected.

Did like the declassified missions, that one mission that replaced boomers/grinders with those rage guys was tough as fuck. New weapons were ok, didn't use them much.

Overall 7/10 for me. Haven't played online yet.

Lighting was stunning in Gears 3, and still is in judgement. Colors are the same as Gears 3. Art is debatable. Looked the same to me, with some different design choices when it comes to the armors and weapons.

Well now I know why epic let PCF make a game based on their worse character. Glad they didnt fuck up my cole train.

It breaks down like this for me after renting it from redbox and beating the single player and getting to to level 25 with multiplayer.

Pros:

Eh, I liked Bulletstorm. Was over the top as hell and the MC character was obnoxious, but fuck if it didn't make me giggle like a school girl hearing her first curse word.

Problem with Judgment, at least to me, is changing so many shit that the Gears fans loved. I know this is /v/, so debating this is pointless, but it's the same as the changes they made in DmC. It's to attract more people, by dumbing down the gameplay aspects. Gears is probably the deepest console shooter with a big learning curve, hence why so many people stop playing it as soon as they realize it's not COD with cool killstreaks.

To me, as a Gears fan, the competitive side on this game is ruined. Overrun is a new mode that seems fun, TF2 kind of fun, but the changes ruined the game.

Bought it the day it came out, didn't preorder it. Didn't do any research.

I've always liked the Gears games, but this one is pretty lackluster. The story was pretty shoehorned, though I like Paduk. The ending boss battle is lame, with no explanation of how Karn survives the fucking missile. Also, he just dies after falling off that spider thing, like Skorge. Shit way to finish a boss, let me fucking kill him myself.

The new weapons are neat, but I don't like the new weapon layout. The grenade button is kinda alright, but I fucking wasted a billion grenades going for my tac-com.

I'm not sure I like Overrun. COG v COG is kinda weird. Still haven't finished Aftermath.

Seem like it just should have been an expansion to three, not a full game. Granted, I felt the same way about ODST, but ODST was fucking phenomenal in my opinion.

That's my impression. Need to give it a few more shots, but so far, pretty meh.

My KDR in 3 was a 0.9, with how shitty these new guys are and how they only learn one gun I get 10+ streaks whenever I get a gnasher and a lancer. The removal of the classic "rifle and shotgun" setup is retarded anyways, and it limits you in gametypes like Domination.

The single player lacks anything memorable. Gears 2 still wins that. The multiplayer is fun as fuck but I don't think it was necessary to strip down the game. I know they are bringing back execution so I will need to play that to really compare it to GoW3. The maps are built for free-for-all and overrun in mind so idk how it will transition. I hope the next-gen gears game keeps the classic style but also keeps the fun free-for-all stripped features style because it is fun after all.

As much as I hate that smug bastard baird, I love it. My only complaints are the 4 maps and that stupid season pass bullshit.

I feel like they put more emphasis into the campaign than anything else though, not that there is anything wrong with that. I actually WANT to go back and get all the collectibles.

The new online mode are fun although I do miss horde (the only thing 3 got right), but in my opinion they did just enough to make the games exciting again.

I don't own it or play Gears, but I got a pair of buddies that only play games on Xbox (CoD like stuff), and they're saying its the worst entry yet. Of course, that's coming from a different mindset than just about everyone here, so I've got no clue.

The game feels like an experimentation like Epic just told PCF to change things up and they are taking notes for next-gen gears.

OverRun is a great addition I hope it continues in the series. Honestly the multiplayer has a lot of potential. The way how it is more fast-paced reminds me of the Gears1 days. They just need to bring stuff back that really didn't need to be taken out like execution and such.

I've never played past the first, but I liked the concept. Mechanics designed to get people to play as a squad (Cover, reviving downed teammates) could've been very interesting if it was further developed, and the setting/environment was great. Not to mention the first one had some occasional great levels in the campaign, such as the berserker and fighting in the streets at night.

Shame Epic ditched the game on PC. I know the official reason was piracy, but was it really because of Microsoft paying for it to be exclusive, or was it because the Xbox just had an incredibly high profit margin in comparison?

I'd give the game these scores as follows:
SP J: 6/10. The declassified missions could have been so much more.
SP A: 7/10. Was clearly meant to be DLC for Gears 3 or was cut from 3 and expanded on. I guess with Epic's key people leaving, better go for a cash grab.

I was top 10 in Ranked Guardian on Gears 2 at one point and 2nd place in Ranked CTL/Guardian when it came to Gears 3. And using Pavilion was a poor choice since you could avoid grenades by glitching throw walls and out of the level period.

You didn't start with grenades in Gears 1-3. You just had your smoke. If you were able to grab grenades, then you had to be smart about when you threw them or where you tagged them. And if you had them out and the shit hit the fan, you could easily be mopped up by a Gnasher before you even had the chance to switch. The spawns were also there to keep people from constantly just sitting around camping spots for something, granted, the spawns were great in for the most part: Not going to respawn until the picked up weapon is empty and dropped.

Gears 2 really ruined this mentality with Blood Drive and River. It was pretty much fixed in Gears 3. And you just sound mad that you were never able to get to the grenades fast enough, anon.

The melee should be brought back to Gears 3 timing and it would be fine. The new grenades should be picked up, not spawned with, or even just removed from MP entirely. The Longshot is kinda useless thanks to the Breech and Marzka. Being able to use the shield with a Rifle, okay, I can dig it. But using the shield with a Boom? Come on. The MP in this game is broken. You can really see the differences from PCF's campaign and Epic's MP.

It's shittier than Gears 3, and that game got fucked over with shitty playlists that crippled the game if you don't have all the DLC and imbalanced weapons.

Considering 2 is worse than 1 and 3 is worse than 2 I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that 4 is worse than 3. I'm pretty sure they know that they don't have to put any actual work into making it good because stupid americans are going to buy it regardless, because its the only 360 exclusive coming out this year.

Good:
-Campaign is pretty fun, the declassified things add some good challenge to it all. Aftermath was great.
-OverRun is a pretty interesting game type

-So many game mechanics they changed or removed for the worst.

I hated the Gears 2 MP, partly for the features they added, but mostly because it was such a poor attempt. The gnasher was bugged for several title updates and the lack of polish was infuriating.

I didn't mind the story, except I could never figure out why everyone was so enthralled by the Dom's wife subplot. She was never developed in the least and thus, I never gave a shit. I actually laughed at the crucial scene.

I like what they added and I hate what they took out. It is the weirdest feeling really. I'm having fun but sometimes I'm like why.jpg. I hope they keep the smooth quick gameplay and overrun but bring back the level 1-50 horde mixed with survival and have a classic playlist option that has execution and the traditional game style.

1 and 2 were unpolished 2 just added more stuff and 3 was tight well made game. people who don't like gears are just people who can't enjoy casual games or have some kind of hate fueled stigma for xbox or how they perceive the community or the controller or they just hate all contemporary games in general and can't appreciate them.

Campaign was ok but incredibly short, no real depth to the story as well... it all felt rushed.

I liked the added difficulty that came with the optional added element such as being timed, fighting in a dense fog or being low on ammo but it didn't make the game that much harder... the game was a cake walk.

multiplayer is shit. 4 maps is a joke and they aren't very good. Survuval is the only mode I truly like but it's still shit to an extent.

Overall it feels like DLC to Gears 3.

I'll probably sell it to Gamestop in a month when I am able to sat for a fact it's a shitty game.
