>chatting with a friend on steam
>lost connection, obviously, happens all the fucking time so I'm used to it by now
>throw the window onto my second monitor, continue browsing /v/
>see I've regained connection, FRIEND HAS COME ONLINE and such
>move mouse to the second monitor
>it doesn't move
>great it froze
>5 seconds later this
Last fucking straw steam, last fucking straw.
Uninstalled, all I have on this garbage is a few single-player games that I've beaten already. I'm fucking done. This is the second bluescreen my computer has had since it's construction 2 years ago (the first time was the exact same fucking thing), and it's because of this shitty buggy bloatware. Fuck you valve corporation.
>>
>Steam is responsible for my system hard crashing

nope.jpg.avi.tiff.lzh
>>
I think it might be your shitty computer, mostly considering that software very rarely, if ever, causes BSoDs.
>>
>/v/ responsible for knowing how computers work
>>

>hard crash
>blaming user-mode software
you are going full retard, you obviously have a memory, motherboard, PSU or CPU problem, or a combination of them, run the standard tests, swap out what items you have spares for and see how it runs.
>>
>>172887959
Go eat a dick valvedrone, I was doing literally nothing else, and it just happens to BSOD on me the second it reconnects? No, I call bullshit, there is no such thing as coincidences when it comes to computers especially when it happened once before
>>
>>172888106
>USER-MODE SOFTWARE HAS NO ACCESS TO MEMORY
Are you fucking stupid?
Rhetorical question.
>>
Nice dopebag faggot.
Maybe if you didn't spend so much money on drugs, you could afford a semi-decent rig.

>Steam causing bluescreens

Yeah, I'm sure it wasn't cause you suck at building computers or anything.
>>
>>172888134

You can "call bullshit" all you want but all you're doing is showing that you don't understand how software and computers work

This crash happened because your memory got a random error in it. It happens. It is unavoidable.

A random error caused by valve's terrible programming.
If this was even remotely my computer's fault it would be doing this shit all the time while I play games.
NOPE, just when steam decides to be shit.
>>
the stop code 101 has something to do with something over heating, prob cpu, try reapplying thermal paste or cleaning it out.
>>
>>172888306
2 fucking years, 2 bluescreens, both were directly caused by steam.
One, when I tried to use big picture mode for the first time.
Two, this time.
Calling a coincidence at this point is mind-numbingly stupid.
>>
>>172888612
Tell me, do you know what a bluescreen means?
>>
>>172888612
google the fucking error code, heat is your problem not valve, good try though
>>
Have you opened your PC since you constructed it?
And cleaned it?
>>
>>172888737
You're stupid. This is with less than 20% ram usage, 5% cpu usage, and 0% gpu usage.
I actually play video games, unlike you and most of /v/, and this never happens while playing games.
>>
thread over, op doesn't understand computers, 10 people trying to tell him he's an idiot and he won't listen, you are now being trolled

Steam technical problem story thread?

>start up steam one day
>get weird message that it should be run with admin rights or it will not work properly
>restart with admin rights
>next day start up computer
>whenever steam is started it sets itself to highest priority
>downloading content makes video output freeze for 3 seconds every 10 seconds
>you can't even kill the task or service in the task manager
>don't run with admin rights anymore
>no freezing, working perfectly
>pop ups every 30 minutes to remind me "it's not working correctly" because I'm not running steam in admin mode
>2 friends have same problem
>post on it on the forums
>thread deleted, forum account banned

Uninstalled. What a piece of shit.
>>
I'm pretty sure it's those dang video games giving your viruses. Did your parents never teach you how to use a computer?
>>
>>172888753
In this case it means steam's memory management is atrocious.
>>
ITT: People give legitimate points, OP is passive-agressive and calls everyone a ''Valvedrone''.

This thread is just a prime example of valvedrones talking about shit they know nothing about to defend their precious gabage software.
How about you defend the fact it keeps dropping connections?
Is it my fault also?
Did I not configure my router correctly?
It's probably that dang solar flare activity.
>>
>>172888963
I forgot to mention that Steam LOVES the idea of using 3 GB of ram just to run the client whenever I run it in admin mode and download a patch.
>>
>>172888963

>making shit up
>>
>>172889247

probably so considering steam never, ever drops connection for me

Valvedrones
Fuck this thread, I'll try again when all of your are sleeping in 3 hours, since you have school tomorrow.
>>
>>172887813 (OP)
Time to get rid of your mom's Dell, bro.
>>
>>172889270

It uses extra ram because it's patching the game files dipshit. Where do you think the information is held while the files are being modified?
