    >> Anonymous 04/26/11(Tue)23:12 No.93564926
I don't see the problem here.

I know this might sound retarded to you, but some people don't like playing video games because unlike movies or books, they can become stuck at some point. Giving people the ability to skip over parts of a game is a great idea, imo.

This isn't for me, btw. I'll force myself through a game, even if it pisses me off to the point of breaking a damn controller or two. I doubt L.A. Noire will be the game to cause something like that, though, as it doesn't seem like a game that was made to be "difficult".

Developers have been trying to figure out a solution for this problem for years.

Sometime in the mid 2000s, someone did some online datamining and figured out that people only beat like 1/3rd of the games they buy. So, developers have been taking that as a sign that games are too hard, for some reason.

It wasn't really the game being beaten, just all the story sequences.

And that was because Shenmue 1 didn't exist on xbox and the creators were under the impression that they had created god tier storytelling and wantd to make sure everyone knew what had happened up til that point without just using a crappy plot synopsis in the manual.

Maybe they like the interactivity mixed with story? Maybe they get so into the story that they no longer want to play the game and just see what happens next?
    >"Then they could watch the rest of the game on YouTube."
Too much work for them. Plus they want to feel like they beat the game, even though they really didn't.

I don't have a problem with this, btw. Every time that pig popped up in DKCR asking me if I wanted to skip the level, I'd just yell at my screen and continue on. Fuck that fucking pig, I'll beat that level you dastardly cunt.

    >> Anonymous 04/26/11(Tue)23:41 No.93566549
So fucking what? If the game forced you to skip it, I'd join you in being pissed, but why complain about the option existing? Not everyone plays games "for the challenge", and even if they did, this option will let devs make their games harder without turning off less-experienced players! Everyone wins here.

Consider the problem if it were reversed: For years, people playing games with long cutscenes either couldn't pause them, which they hated, or couldn't skip them, which they hated. Games finally started giving you the choice, where none had previously existed. Did you guys get bitchy about that, too?
