The primary reason for anonymity is so there is no need for an account. No need to tie yourself or anything related to you to this place; you may come and go as you please. You may say "Oh but just make a throwaway email or something" but plenty of people here suffer from tinfoil hat syndrome and cannot help but feel someone or something is out to get them. The less strings, the better.

Anonymity is not bad. Anonymity plus lax moderation is.

I cant remember what other chan does it but theres a way to allow posters to be anonymous but also slap a tag or ID to them which is constant throughout a thread but differs between them. Allows you to see samefaggotry within one thread but leaves it unrelated from another. Seems like the best option really.
