Damn OP you made me nostalgia hard right now lol. I used to play the living crap out of Driver for PS1.
    >> Anonymous 03/04/11(Fri)07:14 No.88450772
I love the driver series. I played the hell out of the first one, and literally spent hours in the director mode making heavy scripted chase scenes. I played the second one too, but not as much because I could never actually buy it, instead always renting it.

When it was announced that there going to be a third one, I was so excited. I joined the official forum and got every little tid bit of news about the game before it came out. When it finally did, I loved it so fucking much. It was underwhelming and didn't deliver on a lot of promises but the game was still really fucking good. The driving physics in this series are some of the best. Feels like a 70's cop chase.

I never played the fourth one, but that's only because I could never actually find it in stores. From what little I've seen of it, it doesn't look as good as the other three. The new one that's announced also seems to be a bit iffy, because of the new "CHANGE YOUR CAR ON THE FLY COMA COMA COMA LOL" mechanic, but we'll see how it goes.

Tanner never should've stepped out of the car. The downfall of the Driver series was that they strived to rival Grand Theft Auto. They had the chance to create something (which they did) that the GTA's games never had. Amazing car chasing action. The games were called 'Driver' after all, and that's what they shoud've concentrated on. They could've owned that aspect of open-world games.

Overall Driver 3 was a fucking mess. But as >>88450772 already pointed out, the car physics were pretty amazing (and directors mode was the shiz).

    GTA IV now has both.

I don't know, the gta games never really captured the feeling that the drivers games did when it came to car chases.

But GTA IV got it right now.
And nobody cares about Driver anymore.
