I want to get myself a 1911, Mossberg 590, and an M1 Garand rifle. I'm partial to revolvers as well, but I specifically like older patterns of weaponry.
Fun fact: Duke Nukem's shotgun in DN3D was a Mossberg 590 with a vertical grip pump and no stock.
I live in Canada, so the highest liscence I need to get is a restricted arms liscence, which anyone can get. Semi-automatic rifles with more than 5 bullets are banned, but the Garand is an exception because it's a historical weapon.
I also would like to get into Black Powder shooting, more as a novelty than anything else.
They're all big guns, though, so I SHOULD just get a .22 to start and go plinking with.

I live in Australia - in fact I live in Tasmania, and currently have a place near Port Arthur where Martin Bryant massacred a shitload of people and made guns pretty much impossible to get.

When I grew up I didn't think anybody should have guns.

But Arma (+2, +OA) and Stalker have made me a lot more interested in guns. I spent a few hours the other day reading the Internet Movie Firearms Database to learn about what guns specifically were in movies and games I like, and how accurate they were. And promptly realised I know basically nothing about guns.

Anyway, my position is now that guns are pretty cool, and I wish they were somewhat more available - and that there was an easy way for me to actually see or shoot one short of befriending a farmer.

Of course, playing Mirror's Edge made me realise parkour was cooler than just french faggots with spiky hair jumping around, but the exercise fad from that only lasted a week or two. I'll probably lose interest in guns due to not being able to ever do anything non-virtually.

Yet, why is it then that every other civilized first world country have much larger restrictions on guns, and a much lower rate of gun violence and overall crime? Because criminals don't use guns when it exponentially raises their potential punishment.

World War 2 games have made me interested in buying an old bolt action rifle, like a Mosin or Kar98. However I've always been interested in military history so I wouldn't say games are the main influence.

More modern shooters have given birth to fantasies of owning a Sig 550, but that's hardly a realistic purchase option.

I grew up around guns but didn't really care for owning my own until I hit 19. Now I'm turning 21 soon and getting my concealed carry permit.

Not really vidya related though, I just think guns are cool.
