I personally don't like regenerating health, I'm not completely against
it either. I understand what you're getting at, but many games are
purposely designed to be easy. This is not always a bad thing, depending
on the game. I could make the argument that health packs break the
pacing of the game, as it forces you to scrounge for supplies, instead
of pushing forward with the narrative, which breaks suspension of
disbelief.
Now yes, some times you just want to be hard, or at
least follow some kind of linear difficulty curve. But there are others
that are simply designed to function like a rollercoaster ride. It's
better to keep moving forward in games like that, as being forced to
slow down ruins the ride, so to speak. |
