I 'main' dead ringer spy. Probably 500 hours into it alone. Find it the most enjoyable because I can just skip the frontline spamfest, do my own shit and get into amusing mindgames with pyros and engis. As a result though, i also have memorized every ammo box health point in every map plus the best routes to stab/run, usually completely annihilating servers and heavily influencing the balance of a game.

But when I join a server like Hampshire Heavies and try to pull that shit, it doesnt fly at all. Players are ten times more aware and know how to counter it. So, I switch to another class, and get brutally fucked over because I have apparently forgotten how to play anything else. So yeah, guess i know how you feel - thing with Weabootique is that the teams are always stacked, I got sick of that shithole real quick because of it. Its no fun on either side.

the best way to improve your skills at vidya is to watch the way the best play

    - sun tzu

No, you cant be taught how to be a monster with the scattergun because thats all skill with the mouse and reflex (you can practice though), but watching someone who is really good at the game will improve your playing

Watch all this guys videos, among other good tf2 players and youll see some improvement

Go on a jump server and practice.

Approach things like you would as a scout, a gunboat soldier is good for fast and burst damage, i.e. rocket jumping behind a group, killing the medic with 2 rockets, then getting the fuck out of there with the last rocket. Approach fights as you would a scout.

Watch how roaming soldiers play in 6v6. Then can use a shotgun because they have a competent medic, but in pubs when you don't, the gunboats are invaluable.

    >>83494333
So I jump in, do some damage and jump out? That's the plan? How can i tell when I've done enough damage and it's time to retreat? Is retreating onve you have 1 rocket left to fire a good general plan?

Play Demoman on my favorite servers.
Choose the horseman's Axe load out because I'm somewhat good at it. Hate that motherfucking sniper named wax because every time i kill someone with the Axe he head shots me.
Start murdering him with long range grenades.

    >> Anonymous 01/09/11(Sun)17:11 No.83494XXX
Look for MGE training servers if you really want to get better.
Anyways, doing well depends a lot on the team you're in and the one you're up against. One day I'll dominate a server, the next I'll be doing my best just to keep my kd positive. Another factor is simple game-sense. If you can guess what the enemy is doing with any kind of reliability, you'll do a lot better than even a skilled air-shotter or sniper who doesn't understand the game.

Oh Yes. I was suposed to tell you:
When you keep on getting pwned, you're suposed to learn from it.
Not just do the same mistakes over and over again.
    Thats called progress.
So when you know an enemy is ahead of you. Its either a trap or a feirce fight! So either you know where he's going to shoot, you jump dodge, and move away, or pull him into a trap inorder to turn the balance to your advantage.

    Chess gentlemen.
If you play the game its ment to be played. You out wit your foes.

    >> Anonymous 01/09/11(Sun)17:20 No.83495XXX
I'd say it really comes down to knowing the mechanics and, of course, knowing how to aim.

It's hard to explain, but when you've played long enough you just know how people will generally react with the classes. Almost everybody follows the same sorts of patterns. You'll know when to move in and when to fallback for health, you'll have a good idea of how much damage you can sustain, but never allow yourself to get hit in fear of a random crit. My aim gets damn godly when I'm up playing TF2 for more than five hours straight. With the flick of the wrist, I can track a scout who just jumped around me and get a meatshot on him.

    >>83491980

It takes more than a hundred hours to "master" spy. Unless you're on Dustbowl, which is the most demospammy map in the entire game, there is no reason why you should be running into pipes/stickies.

I know its TF2 but... whats your average fps? Do you have a good connection? I was playing BC2 on a shit card... 25 fps average, yeah. Well I upgraded with a less shit card, and Ive improved a lot, then again if I join a "Squad Deathmatch" server (16 player max) Id do good because game runs fluent.
