Before we can try to fix /v/, we need to examine what exactly its problems are.

Posting quality is naturally an issue. Doubles threads have been on the rise as of late. Mods not answering reports, or reports not being specific enough.

While I'm against the use of trips, tripfags aren't always a problem. Of course, we have some really shitty tripfags (I'm looking at you, Nigglytuff). However, we also have some good ones, such as the original Donkey Kong. Tripfags aren't even that big of an issue, in the long run.

The primary solution, as others have said, would most likely be to increase the amount of moderation. Adding more janitors would be easy, or if moot did some kind of application that might work.

Also, add a button to the report window that says something like "Genuinely Shitty Thread".

I realize it isn't easy to hire good mods/janitors, and more importantly there was a time where a few off-topic threads were very good for board identity, meme/content generation and general creativity. However, this wasn't the case for a few years now, so I'd really love to see strict off-topic and trolling deletion/ban enforcement (I mean sometimes trolls make threads that COULD be just someone really stupid, but if the thread starts with trollface.jpg already...). I think CAPTCHA on the report function is a step in the right direction.
