    >Bandai released a Cowboy Bebop shoot 'em up video game in Japan for the PlayStation in 1998. A PlayStation 2 video game, Cowboy Bebop: Tsuioku no Serenade, was released in Japan, and the English version had been set for release in North America during the first quarter of 2006. However, in November 2007, GameSpot reported that the North American release had been canceled.

The vidya was never released outside Japan, and it wasn't -that- good to be honest.

We need a real Cowboy Bebop game.

How about, free roaming bounty hunting? What do you roam around freely? The fucking Milky Way bitch. Some faggot ran murdered a whole family and ran off to Pluto? Hop in the Bebop and catch that bitch for a fat ass cash reward.

Of course there will have to be some sort of story involved. Far as gameplay, fuck make it like the anime, amazing mixture of unarmed combat with gun play.

In other words he wanted to do a sequel and troll the fuck out of everyone by bring back spike but due to the unexpected popularity (much of which do to that ending) he decided against it.

There honestly needs to be a prequel OVA.. it is doable. It could be about Spike's past when he was friends with Vicious and met Julia. Even about Faye's time in our present before she was (frozen? cant remember).

I don't know, but it's doable.. a sequel obviously would not work and would ruin everything, but a prequel would be great. The director should seriously get on this.

I love Bebop, but one thing really annoys me. You know that episode where Faye gets that video from the past and it's a betamax? Wiki has Faye's birthdate as 1994. For her to have been the age she appears in the video (roughly 14-16), it would have to have been recorded around about now. Nobody uses betamax now, or VHS, or any physical media when recording things. Just sort of gets to me.

That is what happens when you make the setting take place in the future. They could not predict what tech would be out by then.

It's kinda like the who thing with Shinji in evangelion. He uses a walkman type cassette player yet he lives in a world where there are giant robots and cities that can descend into the ground.

But it's not about predictions, it's more about logic. In 2000 nobody was using betamax and the transition to digital storage was well under way. Surely an event that takes place several years after 2000 would also not use betamax, right? Unless of course, despite her birth date stating otherwise, they also wanted to give contemporary viewers the idea that Faye's life really is stuck in the past.

My favourite part of Cowboy Bebop was everything before Ed and Vicious shat it up.

Prior to them: fuck yeah this stuff is awesome, feels like something a western company would make!

Once they get added: oh boy, generic long-white-hair emo villain and SHRIEKING young "comic relief"* girl. Fuck you, Japanese culture, you ruined another good thing.

*Cowboy Bebop was already lighthearted; it didn't need comic relief.

Yeah, for most of the episode they had Jet and Spike trying to find a betamax player in the deepest corners of the Earth and space because it was so obsolete. Once they found one, they could finally watch Faye's video.. It was really heartwarming IMO.

Although they could've done the same thing with a DVD.. I'm sure in 2070 or whenever CB takes place optical discs will be a thing of the past. But then again, CB was made in the VHS era, so yeah.

Guys stop replying to the sagefags and trollfags. Lets talk moar Cowboy Bebop.

Dammn it, I thought the series was perfect until Anon pointed out the betamax thing ;_; I know why they did it though, so Spike and Jet wouldn't be able to access its content easily, as betamax is probably almost nonexistent in their time.

EVE Online, but that's pretty boring. Mass Effect maybe. Not exactly exploring, but different worlds to see. You're in a position of authority and there's a sense of urgency though. Someone really needs to make a game like Mass Effect where you're just a space pirate or bounty hunter who doesn't give a fuck.

Spike isn't dead, he isn't alive either. His existence is a dream, the movie begins and ends with the same scene. He can't escape the cycle.

Even Spike says himself that he walks through life as if living through a dream, and that dying is simply waking up from that dream.

The tragic irony is, at the beginning of the show, the first scene is the fleeting moments from the end of the show, followed by spike waking up.

The plot's cyclical, a fate worse than death.

Are you proposing something similar to a Dark Tower effect?

You also need to realize they wrote the story well before 1998.

    My personal favourite space games:
    - Homeworld series
    - Predtechi
    - Mass Effect 1 (ME1 had a very "hard sci-fi" atmosphere to it; ME2 felt like space opera, so I only recommend ME1)

Games I don't play, but are generally held to be good space games:
    - X3 Terran Conflict
    - EvE Onlzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
    - Sword of the Stars
    - Sins of a Solar Empire
    - GalCiv2
    - X-Com

Personally I think ME1 is the best of the lot, but that's just me.

The most memorable episode for me is the one with the fridge and the blob thing. It always happened to be the one on toonami when I caught it.

Uh... the first Mass Effect never really had a sense of urgency, I felt, personally.

Sure, once you get to Virmire, it starts shifting into overdrive, and Ilos really does get into the whole sense of urgency, but the Ilos sequence was just so hauntingly beautiful - music, visual design, theme - that I didn't really mind.

All in all Mass Effect is mostly just having fun exploring various uncharted worlds. This assumes, of course, that you enjoy the Mako sequences. I do, personally, and never had a problem with the controls.

Don't know about space exploran but you should try Planetes or Outlaw Star. Diebuster and gunbuster are always relevant though they are nothing like Cowboy bebop. Sadly 4chan spoiled bebop for me so the end didn't hit me. If you want to watch something that feels like cowboy bebop then watch Trigun, Outlaw Star or Gungrave. Awesome old anime, don't let the trolls tell you otherwise.

Why did you bring One Piece up though?
