I think the Half Life series went to shit after HL1. While it's successor games may be superior gameplay-wise, they were boring nonetheless. The overall setting has much potential but it wasn't tapped at all. Instead the game forced you to drive or boat through bland, colorless and empty landscapes for hours. The most interesting parts of HL2 were the very beginning in City 17 and the Ravenholm levels. Everything else was just boring. The Episodes didn't help any, even though they did pick up the pace a little.
As a result, I stopped caring about Episode 3. And I really think they should have just ended the franchise after HL1, because even though its ending was very open it was nonetheless satisfying, unlike the convoluted mess of a storyline we have now.

As a kid, the reason I enjoyed Mario more than Sonic (IE: The 16-bit era) was because the Sonic games only took an hour or two to complete. Mario Bros. 3 and Mario World? Shit took you days upon days to complete it.

I tried to play both ICO and Shadow of the Colossus and i got tired of both.

I think people only like this game because of its status as black sheep. It's merely an OK game. The level design is alright, the platforming is a bit underwhelming, fighting over dominance of the camera is a chore, and too many of the stars are repetitive in nature. I have nothing against FLUDD, but it's commonly remarked the best parts of this game are the linear platforming stages.

Twilight Princess is better than Wind Waker.

Also, Resident Evil 5 is better than Resident Evil 4, though neither game is "great".

I think you're exaggerating a bit there. That wasn't all you needed to do in the 360 version. The stages just blew me away and when you go without stopping (after much trial & error), it feels awesome when you see that sweet SWEET A/S ranking.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Tri are my GOTYs of 2009 and 2010. The games are challenging and satisfying to play.

I believe graphics are an important factor of the enjoyment one gets out of games. If a great game has shit graphics it is less fun to play, because it's simply unappealing. It's like with food. You enjoy a good-looking, well prepared meal more than the same ingredients just mushed together in a bowl.
This, however, doesn't apply to every style direction. Sprite games usually age very well, as do games with more cartoony styles like OoT and MM or - as a more recent example - TF2.
That's the exact reason why older games can't be enjoyed quite as much today, and to expect otherwise is simply ignorant. While I enjoyed games like Arcanum and Morrowind when they came out, I can hardly bring myself to play them nowadays, because they have aged horribly.

I find consoles tacky, I use them for vidya that hasn't been ported or cannot be emulated. They just seem like those cheep two dollar toys you get from McDs and then pawn off in you old memories you THOUGHT were fun but a just lead paint and poor polymers

I find RTS games boring and tedious, with Pikmin as the only RTS I find enjoyable, i fyou can call it an RTS.

Maybe it's because I don't play RTS games multiplayer with others.

I think Kakuto Chojin is a great fighting game that had a lot of potential

Western gameplay is shallow, often opting for style over substance. Japan can be even worse about this, but they also provide the quality gameplay in fighters, SHMUPs, and action games.

I believe that Valve is the primary thing that's killing PC gaming and that their magnum opus, Half-life, is also one of the biggest reasons why FPSs are shit nowadays.
