    >> Anonymous 04/30/10(Fri)15:45 No.57581XXX
Holy shit I never expected this incompetence on /v/.

The primary cause of latency is simply because the destination you're connecting to is far away and/or it can be that you're going through a ridiculous amount of routers.
Latency is the time it takes to send an information packet to your destination. Even if you have OMG FUKKEN FAST 20/20 INTERNETS, you can expect roughly 300ms when connecting to something halfway across the world.

meh better buy a PC worth 500-800$ and upgrade it once every 2-3 years, cheaper, lets you play all the newest games, sure you wont be able to crank the graphics up to "ULTRA HIGH" but does it matter?

I had Crysis working on a single core 2ghz processor and Radeon X1900 pro, on medium settings, the game looked good and played well.

I really don't see why some people want super ultra uber high graphics, because that's the point of OnLive, to provide the newest, shiniest games to people that got a shitty PC but a good internet.

In the end it will only appeal to a small margin of people.

Also it brings shitloads of questions, saving account information, is it compatible with Steam/Xfire/etc. How fast are the updates, are the servers up 24/7....

    you guys are retarded
the primary cause of latency is the amount of psuedo-matter clogging the copper wiring that makes up the internet backbone.
the more psuedo-matter there is, the higher the latency and lower your ping(low ping is bad)
    >> Ashin !!7GbGny89dzr 04/30/10(Fri)15:47 No.57581XXX

    And?

He clearly has a good quality connection with low ping, probably to a closer server than OnLive would be.

Also, if it isn't good enough for him, everyone in his area and beyond that can't use OnLive, it's pretty clear this service is going to fail hard with the current infrastructure

You obviously don't know shit about networking.

The faster a connection is, the more databytes can get there. After a megabyte of databytes get there, that's your ping.
