I'm an American but I study history in my free time. What we are teaching in schools these days is sad, I saw a class that had kids watch Hollywood war movies for history. Russia was VERY strong by the end of the war and should take most of the credit for beating Germany. Germany was fucked by the time America landed on the shores of Normandy, though even with fewer numbers they held us back enough that Russia got to Berlin first.We can take credit for the Pacific War though, we actually did something there.

I'm a Britfag here, so I'm pretty biased but I think the UK was considerly more 'movie-heroic' than America, which seems to be all you kids care about. All other allies defeated, prevention of invasion seems impossible, Hitler (As he personally liked the UK) offers the UK an alliance instead of an invasion, Churchill refuses, battle of britain etc and Britain (Admittedly more due to Germany's mistakes than Britain's successes) manages to win.I think that deserves more praise than a completely fresh American army taking credit for a war it barely even fought in.
