the tragedy of losing some of my brothers in battle, I felt like their
story had to be written down. So for fun, I made 3 or 4 very short
comics and posted them on 4chan’s /v/ board (sorry guys, I know how much
you hate being talked about). I was expecting a “cool story bro” and
maybe some snide remarks on my lack of artistic talent, but instead I
got almost unanimous approval and several requests for “MOAR.”
But
what they liked even more than the comic itself was Nuzlocke. I should
mention now that I am a huge fan of ABC’s show LOST, to the point of
obsession. In the first three pages I posted, I gave the Seedot I
captured the face of John Locke when he shared his wisdom with Ruby, the
trainer. “Seedlocke” would eventually evolve into Nuzleaf, and from
that moment on, he and the comic would forever be known as Nuzlocke.
My
stupid little comic went on to inspire dozens of variations on the
rule-set as people restarted their files and fired up their ROMs to take
the Nuzlocke Challenge. There are even a couple of spin-off comics out
there. As I updated the comic I continued to get people asking me where
exactly I was hosting it all. The thought never crossed my mind, I
thought it was just some stupid little thing that would be forgotten
quickly (though it probably will now that I’ve put effort into it.) This
is my attempt to have it all in one place for easy access and maybe
give it some permanence as well. This is where I’ll continue updating,
and I hope you follow along. Thanks.
