I always wondered, I loved GTA San Andreas due to amazing outskirts design. Loved driving through all those villages, forests, deserts. Is gta4 really closed in one city?

A GTA set on the Citadel would be awesome.

The city in GTA IV is huge and extremely detailed. To be honest I didn't like San Andreas because it was TOO big. You didn't spend enough time in each city, portions of the map were never explored during the plot, and in fact most of the game world had nothing in it. Just scenery... nothing to interact with.

San Andreas would have been better if it was half the size. Just Los Santos, San Fierro, and the hills and a few small towns in between.

There are some suburbs, industrial areas, the commercial areas with the big sky-scrapers, and some urban areas. You should rent the game... or play a demo or something. The city is huge. It feels like a real city. To me it feels bigger than San Andreas.

Not to mention the combat is a lot of fun. Hilarious ragdolls.

I will fault the game for two things though: your friends call you too much, interrupting what you want to do, and outside of the story missions there isn't a whole lot to do. No boat or traffic school, no mini-games.

It's a lot of fun though. Police chases are awesome and can get really intense at higher wanted levels.

I loved San Andreas, I've never played a non-RPG game as much as I have that.

Then getting the computer version and playing SA:MP, it puts everything to good use.

I loved exploring everything though. So meh.

Perhaps, but I found them a little too tedius to find than secret packages. The scavenger hunt was simply too big and it didn't reward you with ANYTHING until it was complete. What worked better in 3 and Vice City was that you got rewards in little increments. This gave you more motivation to keep hunting.

You can turn off your phone and no one will try to call. The story can't progress if you do, though.
