Tarantino has ADD. Sitting in one place and playing the same game for a while would be difficult for someone that actually has ADD, so there's your answer as to why he hates games, but may still play some stuff like Half-Life.

I don't know why people that are so interested in Tarantino's opinion on anything wouldn't be familiar with his having ADD considering it's fairly widely known and obvious during interviews.
