Just remember it won't always be like this.

The next generation will know how to do all this stuff.

Word of advice for those thinking this field is easy money... yes it is FOR NOW...

But please don't base your careers on this like so many people I know.

I make a shit ton of money doing this stuff for people at a fraction of the price but I know I'm not going to be able to make money off of it in 15-20 years. That's why I'm in college.

Also to build a decent customer base you need to network your ass off and get people referring you all over the place.

Also if you fuck people's stuff up you HAVE to pay for it. You're liable for fucking it up. So don't try to do anything you're not sure about.

If I'm not confident doing something I just buy a new part and install it instead of fucking around with soldering and getting myself electrocuted.

Got a strange whirring noise in your computer? It might not be very loud, but it sure is annoying!
This annoying sound is caused by the Fan device in your computer. Yes, I know what you're thinking... Why on Earth does my computer have a fan inside?
    Well, take it out!

But, unfortunately, the only way you can fix this problem is a complicated and backbreaking procedure of removing the device from inside the computer.

But don't worry! We've got you covered! For only $129.95 we'll remove it for you!

Finally, that whirring will stop, and you can get your important computer work done in PEACE.

Start your own business and take the time to go to conferences and other networking opportunities.

Well yeah basically. But isn't that like any other business?

Engineers invent things because people are too stupid to invent them themselves by your logic.

Financial analysts report data to companies because the existing employees are too stupid to get that data.

Often times people don't have the time to repair bullshit so its easier and more economic to have some guy do it for them.

That's kinda how specialized positions work.. you know something other people don't know... so you're useful.

On the other end, yeah some IT people are just dinguses preying on retards, but there's that in a lot of professions.

I was referring to two separate things, el trollio.

Its usually cheaper to buy a new PSU for $30 for my customer than get my soldering kit out, take apart the PSU and fix it.

Also I've been slightly zapped while working on a PSU despite specifically discharging it.

    That was rather...scary.

Anyway, bravo trolling me enough to get this response out of me.

When my mom bought my sister her laptop, they offered to update the drivers and windows 7, as well as install and update the anti-virus for $200.

My mom was about to say yes but I stepped in and said that shit can be done in like 10mins for free at home.

My face as I looked at the employee.

But you didnt do that, instead you and your mom were far away from the employee and you had read what they were offering from a sign. You said to your mom you can do it for free, and she said no to an employee who offered it.

    You aint shit.

    "install and update"

    what the fuck lol?

YES WE'RE GOING TO INSTALL THE LATEST VERSIONS OF YOUR DRIVERS AND ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE AND THEN UPDATE THEM.

I give them kudos for making it sound like more than 20 minutes of labor.

They were only charging 30 bucks, and not 130.

I've never seen anything like this in german shops, but there are "computer specialists" in the newspaper ads. You can order them for shitloads of money and they don't know nothing. A friend of mine used to call that guy every few months when he had problems I could have solved in, like, ten minutes.
"NO NO YOU ARE NOT A COMPUTER SPECIALIST"
    Stupido.

The place I used to work would charge $75 dollars to install ram (not including the price of the ram) and $125 dollars to install and run antivirus software and get it scheduled (not including the price of the software). People will pay anything for computer help because they know nothing. Whenever I help people I charge 20 dollars per hour rounded up plus the cost of materials and it's usually way cheaper than any estimate they can find anywhere else.

Yes, of course I directly soldered things to my PSU.

Have you ever worked on a PSU?

When something breaks you cut the wire and solder the wire to the new part onto it.

Not to mention you can easily ground a PSU if you're not a retard.

    DEM TROLLS MAN
