I love how the executioner swings his weapon, which is clearly too heavy for him, and shows no display of power whatsoever even though he's supposed to be some massive "boss-like" enemy

I also love them. Sure they're not really scary, and they definitely don't follow the Resident Evil plotlines thanks to the first film's setting and characters, but I think they're pretty decent action films. It's Under Siege 2 tier for me.

The big menacing maul guy, well, he doesn`t look like he`s swing his weapon, he looks like he`s just moving his weapon and whatever he touches breaks.

I saw something about Romero writing the screenplay for the first movie a while back. We might would have actually had a good film adaptation of Resident Evil. Romero is just about the only person that can do zombie movies right.

Apparently George Romero was all set to write and direct a movie about Chris, Jill, Barry and Wesker all in the mansion, but at right before production began this no name hack out of nowhere said "LOL I A RE FAN CAN I MAKE MOVIE SONY PLZ" and Sony fired Romero and put this guy in charge of everything. I have a friend who tests katanas for SBG. it is harder to decapitate someone than the popular image, but katanas were designed for the specific purpose of removing a limb or head in one cut, and if you've done any decent amount of practice with tatami then you could probably do it.
