eh..i dunno why but fear didnt really scare me at all felt more like a shooter with OMGAGHOST moments scattered intermittently throughout...and even doom 3 executed 'popout' moments far more effectively than fear did

the expansion perseus mandate is great fun as well

extraction point was too easy on combat, but made up for it by being super extra trippy

No tips really. The game is very straightforward.

Oh, maybe one tip. If you ever think you should be trying to defend yourself from Alma, trust that instinct. Don't let your guard down thinking she's just a harmless cutscene or storytelling device. If you think she needs a bullet, shoot. If you think you need to run, run.

I liked the story more than anything else, and feel FEAR is a thriller, moreso than horror.

I think I'll reinstall it too.

I've never really been scared of stringy haired ghost girls, in fact I find Alma to be quite hot, so the games didn't really suck me in. But the combat is where it's at. The THUD! sound when the bullets hit the enemies, the way the enemies behave, everything works, and it works well.

Word of advice: only play the expansions if you want more combat. They're shit otherwise.

Actually the Replicas made me jump more than Alma. Sneaking into a room and suddenly a particle beam smashes into the wall right by my head. There were a few jumpy moments but overall F.E.A.R wasnt very scary.

Saying that however, I don' think there's been an FPS since (at least for me) that felt so satisfying to shoot a gun.

To this day I still think F.E.A.R looks beautiful at max settings. There's nothing better than going into slow-mo and seeing your bullets tear chunks out of the concrete while shredding your enemies.
