Pretty sure what he means by "deep" is "involved" or "complicated," both of which are fair words to use to describe the RE series' plot -- other fair adjectives are "stupid" and "irrelevant." RE4 and RE5 are good because the gameplay is legitimately enjoyable in ways the previous entries in the series were not, and Leon's amazing cornball action-movie dialog only made it more entertaining, imo. (also the bit where he hits salazar in the hand while a knife while he's monologueing. fuck you if you don't think that was awesome/hilarious.)

PROTIP: The game was supposed to be the video game equivalent of a B-movie. I mean, seriously, the President's daughter gets kidnapped by a cult leader/terrorist and only one guy is sent to rescue her? And then there are people being controlled by parasites that are in turn being controlled by said cult leader? It's supposed to be terrible. Hell, I just described about 5 of those Sci-Fi channel made for TV movies.

RE4 had one problem, fundamental one, it wasn't scary. This is just a comedy 3person shooter with limited ammo. It's high quality, but it isn't resident evil.

I thought it was scary enough. Especially when that black armored guy is chasing you around and you're running for your life, trying to figure out a way to get away from him/hurt him. The re-generators were also pretty creepy. You know what, you're just wrong and sound like

RE4 was one of the best Resident Evil games I played. As a matter of fact, it's one of the first RE games I played.

The main reason why I was put off by the Resident Evil franchise is the fixed camera angles. RE4 has no fixed camera angles, but you still get the tank style movements. But with no fixed camera angles you will not get any surprise "out-of-camera" view attacks. That was one of the primary reasons why I loved RE4.

I got the PS2 version because I did not had a Gamecube at the time.
