  • Kimmo Alm aka "Sysop" from AnT has been spamming us for YEARS now, and has recently stepped it up. This shit has got to fucking stop. As promised, here are all of the e-mails he has sent me over the years (and my responses).

We've done all we can do about him. We've banned THOUSANDS of proxies, and deleted OVER A HUNDRED THOUSAND spam posts. His attacks continue though, and we've reached the limit of what we can do.

    We need your help, /v/.

    http://www.petitiononline.com/Y3NACC/petition.html

    >To: SEGA of America

    >SEGA America,

    >We, the fans of the Yakuza series, are sorely displeased with the content being cut from the North American release of the game. We are hoping that we can, at the very least, get the content put back in via paid or free, DLC. Please consider doing this SEGA, as being fans of the series, we feel that cutting content due to any reason is simply unacceptable. Thank you.

    >Sincerely,

Please sign. Any and all help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    >But I wish they would have been fucking honest about it.

    This right here, you retards.

    >Sega has made cuts to the Western version of gangland brawler Yakuza 3. The publisher says that hostess bars are gone. People playing the game say a lot more than that is missing.

    >Sega's official message board for the site is home to complaints from early-bird purchasers of the game, who say that along with the hostess bars and Japanese trivia quiz, scores of other content is missing, including Mah-jong games and, more importantly, scores of the game's side missions.

    >In chapters 3 and 4 of the game, for example, nine of the forty available side quests have been axed from the Western version. That's a lot more than we were first led to believe, especially given Sega's original promise last year that the game was on its way in an unedited state.

    >Sega's first explanation for the cuts was "Ultimately, the choice that had to be made was either no Yakuza 3 in the west, or a version of the game that was almost exactly the same, but with a little less trivia."

    >It then gave a different explanation, saying "we had a tight schedule to abide by for localizing and releasing Yakuza 3 in the west" and that "due to the limited time we were given we had to leave certain bits of the game out".

I am glad you agree with me, but I want to be clear about the lie here. The person who wrote that is retarded.

The explanations are obviously the same. The choice between "No Yakuza 3 or one with less trivia" refers to budget constraints.
Time restraints are mentioned in the second (different, lolz) explanation, but there isn't any difference. They are both talking about the same thing: The budget.

The lie is "less trivia." If they really cut all this shit out, that's awful of them. And they should have told us.

Because you're lucky you got it at all because it won't be financially success for Sega. Even if they didn't sabotage themselves, it'd still probably do poorly because it's just that damn niche.

I mean you might like the SA people adding all those stupid ass memes in the game and all but it is way different from what was in the original.

I'm not saying phoenix wright translation was bad but it doesn't apply to this game where people want "the japanese experience" or whatever

Because, you know, the game might have NOT BEEN PORTED OVERSEAS.

Chist, did you miss the part where Sega almost said "No" to a US Yakuza 3 release?

Minor cuts were mentioned back then. No side quests or HEAT actions or mahjong or shogi.

Only hostess clubs were at first. And by then I had already ordered the game.

Well, I wasn't around /v/ for it's "Phoenix Wright Americanization" bitching so I can't speak for anyone but it doesn't seem to me like Phoenix Wright was a game drenched in Japanese culture.

Then again, I should probably do more research on that.

That's the heart of the issue, though. The reason at least some of the content was cut is because in the real world TIME = MONEY.
They had a limited time to translate the game because they had a limited budget to pay the people to WORK on the game.

It may not be the reason everything was cut, but it is absolutely the reason some of the content was cut.

Get this straight fuck-stick, I am not "lucky" to be able to spend my money on Sega's bullshit.

It is not my responsibility to help Sega make good management decisions and bribe them to release Yakuza 4 in the west. Sega obviously spent fucking dick to translate the game, simply cutting any content that they felt wouldn't "resonate" with western gamers.

The only reason why you idiots think we're lucky is because Sega has been holding these games hostage. A publisher like fatlus would easily be able to publish these games in the west and make a profit, but Sega thinks that they have a chance in hell of selling this to the GTA crowd, and are willing to piss off the only people who would buy their distinctly Japanese game (weeaboos) to market the game to people who would never ever buy it.

Sega isn't even selling this YEAR OLD game for a discount. It's a full fucking 60 dollar game. Sorry, but $60 is the price NEW games cost. I would NEVER pay $60 for 90% of a year old game, and if you would, you're a huge cunt and Sega sees you as such.
