-only like 3-4 characters actually developed in the main cast, rest was throw-away that got like 10 lines each

Final Fantasy Tactics - Completely deviated from the 'tried and true gameplay' of the franchise and did its own thing, and more or less beat the piss out of the rest of the franchise in doing so, but is never mentioned on a list, and is never considered an "FF".

There isn't a single FF in the main "series" that is bad. Sure, they've all got certain downfalls and some are better than others... but not one of them is flat out terrible.

My least favorites are III, VIII, and X. But they're still damn fine games. Even X-2 is good... best job system since FF V

FFT was exceptional as a Final Fantasy game, but there are some much better tactics games out there.
I still really enjoyed it, though.

I prefer XII's because I'm a huge Ivalicefag, but I'd say they're tied in terms of backstory and rich lore. With all the expansions of XI, it has an amazing as fuck fantasy story that most people overlook. But there's something of Ivalice that doesn't want to let me go.

FFX piss on this.
The gameplay of FFIX was slow and had no customization whatsoever and the game was far too easy as a whole.

The cast, except for Zidane and Vivi, was completely undeveloped and the story was far too straightforward and simple for its own good.

Vivi's story and development was about the only really interesting thing this game offered.

FFs are fun, combat is great, shitty RPG-wise. You don't decide anything, but instead watch the characters play through their lives. Still good games though.

i played the original on an emulator. it sucked hard.
grinding, no map, no story. all you did was guess where you had to go next by wandering and getting your ass kicked, talk to a couple of people in the villaige, something happens, and you get something so you can wander some more.
it sucked, i got up to where the dwarves had blown me a way onto the next continent, got horribly lost and gave up.

As of now, FF XII is the oldest tale, followed by FFT, and then Vagrant Story. The map doesn't change, only the location where each game takes place. And it's said that after XII there is a cataclysm that kills some of the races, and destroys airship technology, which is why there is an airship graveyard, and engineers are reviving the technology of old, like the guns.

Ah, the traditional Final Fantasy 9 disagreements. Always funny to watch for me, considering I never got to play the game to form an opinion on it.
