  • Since I've been on a Q&A kick in /a/ and /r9k/ recently, I've decided to set up a formspring account for publicly answering 4chan related questions. You'll find it linked in the navbar as "?", and located here: formspring.me/4chan. Also, if you use Twitter, please follow @4chan. As always, I can be contacted via e-mail at moot@4chan.org (Despite the common misconception, I check it frequently and read every message I receive. Nobody seems to e-mail me about anything other than being banned though ;_;)
EDIT: Site went down due to a hardware issue. Should be fixed now.

I remember looking forward to habbo raids when I was still a 4chan larva on /b/. My life is still pathetic but it will never be as bad as then

no, that would be the gaia/scientology raids.

/b/ was shit long before that chanology bullshit, and Gaia roughly coincided with Habbo raids.

It was fun in the beginning but it became stale very quickly.

Then when people suggested "raiding" other types of sites with dress up options for the "lulz" you knew /b/ had enter a territory it would not be coming out of.

this post makes me realize /b/ is like a primordial soup for 4chan users. Eventually we cast off dumb /b/ shit and evolve into /v/irgins, /d/eviants, or whatever
    >> Anonymous 02/25/10(Thu)17:16 No.50709936
    >>50709745

Indeed. Also it happened pretty abruptly for me. I'd been going to /b/ for a few months in late 2007 when I got bored and started checking out the other boards... within a week I was wondering why I ever thought /b/ was good.

That was when /b/ started taking itself seriously. For a board that (was) about stupid funny shit and gore pictures thats a very bad thing
    >> Anonymous 02/25/10(Thu)17:19 No.50710162
/b/ is the kind of thing were I'm not sure if it just got really shitty, or I got older and my sense of humor changed. Same with south park

    Gore and weeaboo shit.

its funny because when I was a /b/tard i mostly hung around hentai and video game threads, and now those are exactly the boards i go to

Well OC dies completely. /b/ used to be home to fun photoshopping but obviously that requires too much skill for the new /b/ users.

One reason I like /v/ a lot is because photoshopping is a common practise.
    >> Anonymous 02/25/10(Thu)17:22 No.50710423
Somewhat related to this, apparently, someone, somewhere, has about 10,000,000 4chan threads dating back to 2005 archived, but unfortunately can't get them hosted.

If he ever does get them online, it would be interesting to browse though, see how all the boards have changed over time.
    >> Anonymous 02/25/10(Thu)17:23 No.50710537
    >>50710422
Yeah /v/ reminds me a lot of /b/ back when it was good, only mostly video game related

More like the Spawning Pool for new members of the 4chan hive.
    >> Anonymous 02/25/10(Thu)17:26 No.50710764
    >>50710162

I think it's a combination of the two. I look back on stuff I liked on /b/ as an underageb& and some of it I still like now, and others I find totally unfunny. Regardless, the drop in quality, in my opinion, is evident, since it hasn't produced anything that's interested me since 2007.
    >> Anonymous 02/25/10(Thu)17:28 No.50710928
I have a harddrive full of old pics I collected during my /b/ phase. I should probably poke through it sometime

If you're interested, here's a thread from /b/ someone saved from back in 05.

Some of you might remember it, it's Itoko Otoko.

No, I stick to SomethingAwful for photoshopping. It moves slower giving more people time to work on their shit.

I like /v/ because it's a bit quicker and you can go through more topics/ideas faster.
