If the Hammerhead reintroduces proper planetary exploration, I.. I don't even know.

The only problem with ME2's planets thusfar is that none of them are as brickshittingly awesome as ME1's planets. There are cool planets, but they're all much more realistic this time around.

But that, in a way, could be really good. It'd be awesome to be able to visit other colonies and shit for quests/NPC interaction, shopping, etc, but still have a vehicle aspect for N7 quests or whatever in the area.

Or maybe they won't do anything like that. I shouldn't get my hopes up.

Then they follow that shit up with saying it was a weapon used to fucking kill a Reaper.

But it crippled it and got it stuck in something's atmosphere.

    REAPER TIME.

Wtf is wrong with most of you? Nostalgia goggles? The Mako was never good, it controls like shit, I just want to kill someone everytime I aim at something and it hits at that far away mountain. Jesus Christ, I'm glad they took it out, and they're taking time with the Hammerhead, because I don't want another Mako.

As long as you didn't want to fucking climb a mountain with it, the MAKO did its job.

Anyway, drving it and exploring those planets was a million times more awesome than "launching probes"

It's not nostalgia goggles. The actual exploring was interesting, the problem was that the Mako couldn't climb up half of the mountains and all of the bases were pulled from one of three layouts.

While a lot of planets were the same shitty steep terrain, there was a lot that was still cool about it: unique atmospheres, the stories behind the planets, the occasional strange fauna (pyjaks!), neat hidden things, what have you.

No one's saying the Mako was anywhere near perfect, and Bioware is clearly willing to listen to the community's concerns so the Hammerhead will probably improve on the Mako in all aspects if it is indeed a planet exploring vehicle.

The point is that the Mako added depth to the game in the form of exploration, which ME2 is lacking at the moment.

also, real men killed everything on foot. fuck mako rockets
    >> Anonymous 02/20/10(Sat)19:15 No.50224861
The Mako missions would be better if all the planets weren't so damn boring, the sidequests so repetitive, and the thing handled better.

The ME series is great but planet exploration has always been weak. Really everything good about the games comes down to character, dialogue, and decisions. When you explore planets, there was just some arcadey driving bullshit and sometimes a warehouse full of dudes to kill. In ME2 the "land on planet" missions usually weren't even tied to a person on the Citadel or anything, they were just uninteresting. At their best they were about as diverting as a WoW quest.

I only seemed to have trouble on it with those really mountainous worlds. And worlds that are active enough to form mountains are likely to be able to support life, hence why many of the very mountainous worlds are grassy.

I thought the planets with huge looming suns, meteorites falling constantly and impacting the surface, fierce thunderstorms on one horizon with the sun at your back for that extra surreal look, and tiny plankton-like organisms drifting through the air were all pretty neat.

Yes, 37 million years ago a race killed a Reaper from the same harvest as Sovereign(they look the same) with a giant rail gun, the bullet kept going after hitting the Reaper and impacted Klendagon(?) making the huge crater/rift. Cerberus found both the Gun and the derelict reaper, you destroy the Derelict reaper in ME2.
