Ace Combat general threadLet's discuss the magnificence that is Ace Combat
Dumping wallpapers in the meantime
I have The Unsung War ost playing on repeat right now, rad.
FLYANSHOOTANCRASHANACE COMBAT GENERALBtw this is the first time I see that wallpaper.
Hresvelgr was piss easy to take down. Taking down Espada 1 & 2, however, was not.
>>48649941Ghosts of Razgriz, Frontline and Supercircus are the best songs in the soundtrack, imo.
Also, Mobius 1 was the coolest pilot. In the beginning of AC04, he already was a renowned ace pilot.
I have never played Ace Combat before. Is it... fun? What do you do, exactly? I'm getting the impression it's a kind of semi-open mission structure ala Armored Core titles.
I fuckin' want to tango whenever I hear Zero. Megalith was far more epic than any other song though. Your flying to save the world, twenty Yellows in front of you, meteors falling from the sky and operatic/techno backing you up. Win everytime.
Can anybody tell me why AC6 had shit selection for planes? Don't you dare tell me its the multiplayer, because fucking Forza 2 had hundreds of cars. Explain yourselves, ACE!!!
>>48650495When it all comes down to it, you shoot the target until it goes boom. But the thing about Ace Combat is, is that it can be VERY challenging at times. Its soundtracks and top-notch storylines also contribute to it being a fucking fun series. Some missions got me all teary-eyed, because they tend to get emotional. A lot.So yeah, go play Ace Combat.
>>48650495You DANCE WITH THE ANGELS. Go watch some vids or something.
>>48650689Is there any particular Ace Combat title I should start with? Going back to Armored Core, I wouldn't recommend anybody start with Last Raven, for instance, because of its utterly brutal level of difficulty.
>>48650668Oh, come on. The F-22, SU-47, F-16C and Typhoon are fucking great planes to fly in.
I never played the Ace Combat series. When I was a kid, I tried to play, but it was "too complicated". How can I start to play them?
>>48650768That got fucking annoying. Everybody said it. AC6's story sucked. I get it, your kid may be dead, quit bitchin about your woman shit.
>>4865082604, 5 or Zero. 5 and Zero are generally regarded as the best, with 04 right behind.6 is pretty shit though. It's pretty much the same as 04, but with online multiplayer and different names for the countries/superweapons.
>>48650879>Ace Combat>complicatedretard
>>48650826Well, all Ace Combat games have smooth learning curves so none are particularly hard. I recommend going after Ace Combat 04 first, then The Unsung War (or Squadron Leader in PAL regions) and then The Belkan War. All of these are for PS2.And AC 1-3 are still worth playing, by the way. They're just bad if you've played an installment released after 3.
>>48650974I was like, 9 years old when I played. Give me a break.
>>48650495The Ace Combat series is basically an animu in jet form
>>48650965>It's pretty much the same as 04, but with online multiplayer and different names for the countries/superweapons.Except 04 has no wingman as annoying as Shamrock. Or a wingman at all, for that matter. Fuck yeah, Mobius 1 winning wars by himself.
>>48650879>>48650826Well, I personally started with AC5, and it is really one of the easiest in the series (as well as the longest and with the most fleshed out plot, unless you count AC3 JP), so it's probably a good start for the series.Ace Combat Zero seems to be the one most people have played, or at least the one most people love, so keep that in mind too. AC6 if you really want something current gen, but (mind you I have not really played it myself) it's considered mostly inferior to the PS2 instalments. It also suffers from the online-age DLC addiction by developers to an extent. Many love 04 too, but not having played it myself, I don't have much of an opinion on it.
>>48650878Yeah, but what about everything else? AC0 had every plane from 4/5 (including the superplanes) and it was on PS2. I loved it. Get 360 with hopes and ambitions and there's only 20 planes and the CFA (ooooh). I don't care if they didn't think it was fair to put a laser plane in multiplayer, but they can just not make the laser weapon an option like the Nosferatu's uberweapon. You have to admit the ADF-01 and the X-02 would be fucking beautiful on 360. Variety is key for multiplayer.
>>48651489>AC0 had every plane from 4/5 (including the superplanes) and it was on PS2>AC5 had more planes than ZWell ok, most of them may have been variants, but...And in AC6, they try to make up in variety by making different paint schemes for each plane have different stats.Which, I am sure everyone agrees, is fucking retarded.
>>48651489True that. They should've just locked out superplanes from multiplayer, because those things got me fearing online play. And I guess you're right about the variety stuff, but who are we to complain, right?I also can't wait until Ace Combat introduces CO-OP. Man, that'd be fucking sweet.
>>48651336I will try that, thanks. Ace Combat is on my list of must-play series, with MGS and Armored Core.
>>48651723Some of these paint schemes are pretty kawaii, though.
I think this is the place Pixy is interviewed in, in the final cutscenes.
