!7VARROT7Ms 01/18/10(Mon)12:06 No.47112925>>47112525 It is, however, fun to find special treasure.
Most
modern RPGs lack any form of making exploration fun. Alternate paths
with treasure don't go very far, the paths that ARE far almost always
have items that suck (turning it into nothing but a waste of time), and
sometimes you can't come back if you find you took the correct path all
along. And of course, it can be fairly annoying to backtrack to a
certain spot just to check one nook that has nothing in it.
It's
like if you built a town with ten houses, but there are never any NPCs
and only one house has a treasure chest, which contains only one
Potion. Of course exploring the game ends up sucking. There's nothing
new or exciting to find. Nowadays, it's only done in the very off
chance that someone or something is hidden there for you, which isn't
the case anymore. Like how RPGs USED to have optional hidden characters. |
